Echo Lake Hiking Trail in South Lake Tahoe | South Lake Tahoe Vlog
Heyyy, the other day I decided to go up to Tahoe for the day with my boyfriend and our black lab puppy and hike around Echo Lake. We had a great day and Tahoe was looking beautiful as usual! We even took a fun little boat ride - although it was a bit of a surprise, too! I hope you guys enjoy this vlog! Thanks for watching.

MUST DO hike in Lake Tahoe!
We were in Tahoe last weekend for a wedding and decided to look up a hike to do. This one seemed to be a popular one, but a lot of reviews online said that it's a pretty intense hike as it's 9.5 miles round trip, takes anywhere between 6-8 hours and is a 4,000 feet elevation climb.
We should have started earlier so it wasn't so hot, but we lagged and didn't start the hike until 12 noon. According to one of the guys we talked to on the hike, we were close, but didn't even make it half way.

Lake Tahoe Vacation Travel Guide
Lake Tahoe Vacation Travel Guide
Filled with over 39 trillion gallons of pure Sierra snowmelt and pushed a mile into the Californian and Nevada skies, Lake Tahoe is the USA’s largest alpine lake and one of the country’s oldest, year-round vacation playgrounds.
Lake Tahoe has forever drawn travellers to its shores, from the Native Americans who call this place Big Water, to the trappers, timber cutters and pioneers who followed.
When you’re ready for a little alpine magic, take the four-hour drive from San Francisco to the sunlit shores of Kings Beach. Set on Tahoe’s northern end, this beach was named after local card shark, Joe King, who used his winnings to develop some of the lake’s earliest lodgings. On the lake’s southern shore, is Pope Beach, where you’ll find another Tahoe institution, Camp Richardson.
From Pope Beach follow the bike path to the Taylor Creek Visitor Center. An open-air classroom for the entire family, the center features fabulous interpretative walks such as the Rainbow Trail.
Nearby, at DL Bliss State Park, follow the spectacular Rubicon Trail into neighboring Emerald Bay State Park. This park is home to the Eagle Falls Trail, a moderate two-mile hike that takes in some of the Sierra high country’s finest views.
When the ponderosa pines bend with the season’s first snow, Tahoe transforms into the nation’s favorite winter playground. Whether you’re looking for snow-capped peaks or crystal clear coves, places to bond with loved ones or pockets of pure solitude, The Lake in the Sky has it all.

Hiking Mount Ralston 9•26•2018 / Desolation Wilderness / Lake Tahoe / California
9,235' give or take(depending on the source) 4.1 miles from the main trail sign to the peak. About 2,700' elevation gain from there. It was a beauty day! A little bit warm but not too hot. This was my second time bagging Ralston Peak. I took my nephew this time. His first peak bagged!
Ralston Peak is on the southern border of Lake Tahoe's Desolation Wilderness. The peak itself is the highest bump on a ridgeline that runs from Echo Lakes in the east, to Horsetail Falls Canyon in the west. This ridge, which can easily be seen looming above the roadway as motorists make their way up US 50 to Echo Summit, consists of Becker Peak, Talking Mountain, the Saucer Lake headwall, Baldy (Peak 9,188') and Ralston Peak itself. Skiers take note: this fine-looking ridge runs almost perfectly east-to-west, and is quite steep on the north side. As a result, the ridge holds snow well into late spring and early summer.
The south side of Ralston Peak is a sparsely forested hillside that drops about 2,500 feet to US 50 and the canyon of the South Fork of the American River in less than two miles. The northeast face of Ralston is a fairly steep series of cliff bands above Ralston Lake and the main Desolation Valley. The main route to the top is the Ralston Trail, up the more gentle south side of the peak. - SummitPost.org

A Northern California family hiking vlog. We made it to HEART LAKE!
This is vlog 21. On this video, we hiked from castle lake to heart lake in the beautiful and pristine wilderness of the Mt Shasta area. It was probably the most difficult hike we have been on as a family, and the most memorable.

Susie Lake Falls is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the Lake Tahoe area, dropping about 150 ft. on the outlet stream of Susie Lake on its way down to Grass Lake. But I wonder just how many people each year hike right by Susie Lake without even realizing there is an incredible waterfall just below the lake? Almost all of them, I imagine.

Eagle Lake & Eagle Falls Trail plus a Hailstorm in South Lake Tahoe
Eagle Lake is one of my favorite short hikes in South Lake Tahoe. This 2-mile trail has a waterfall and a beautiful lake nestled in the middle of some massive peaks. We hiked it about a week ago and got caught in a hailstorm which was a pretty crazy experience in South Lake Tahoe.

PODCAST 015 | TRIP SHORT: The Tahoe Rim Trail
When Backpacking Light Gear Editor and Podcast Producer Andrew Marshall set out on a fast thru-hike of the Tahoe Rim Trail, he knew he’d be contending with Sierra snow pack that was several hundred percent above average. The story of that trip - trail conditions, lessons learned, and gear tested - is the subject of this BPL TRIP SHORT.
After a brief introduction, Ryan and Andrew spend some time discussing the Tahoe Rim Trail and conditions in the Eastern Sierra. Among other things, the guys talk about Andrew’s route finding, food strategies, training, and how to walk on sun cups (hint - meditate).
In the second half of the pod Ryan and Andrew talk about the gear - what Andrew loved, what he didn’t, and what he wished he’d left behind. They wrap it up with a lament on the state of footwear in the ultra-light world.

We hiked Lake of the Woodin Desolation Wilderness to camp via the Echo Lakes Trailhead. We took the boat taxi to the start of the trailhead and enjoyed the ride. We also hiked to Lake Aloha. I highly recommend this hike and back country backpacking trip. Enjoy!
