Ecola State Park, Cannon Beach, Oregon - YouTube
Not only is Ecola State park beautiful but even the drive into this unique place is spectacular. The road is narrow so big vehicles have to be careful when there is approaching traffic.
Two beaches, the first is a view point and the second is where the surfers are.

The Ecola Point Site is an archeological site associated with the Tillamook people, located in Ecola State Park near Cannon Beach, Oregon, United States. Several ground depressions at the site have been interpreted by researchers as house pits, indicating the presence of a semipermanent village. Two dense shell middens have preserved extensive faunal remains, along with other artifacts. Radiocarbon dates taken at the site roughly span a period from ca. 1100 CE to ca. 1700 CE. The site has the potential to yield information related to environmental change in the Oregon Coast region, settlement and subsistence patterns, emergence of ethnographic patterns among coastal people, the change in cultural patterns from before to after contact with European Americans, and other topics.
The Ecola Point Site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.

Pacific Northwest Coast Road Trip Part 09 - Cannon Beach Hay Stack Rock and Ecola State Park, Oregon
An interesting fact that I learned while Shelley and I were on this trip is that multiple sea stacks are named Haystack Rock along the Oregon coast. The most recognized is the Haystack Rock that was used in the movie Goonies. This Haystack Rock is found on Cannon Beach. Shelley and I visited another Haystack Rock sea stack while driving along the Pacific coast. You’ll be able to read about that one in the next blog post when we visit Cape Meares Lighthouse and Cape Kiwanda.

HIDDEN Sea Caves, a Beach WATERFALL and The Goonies Rock - Oregon Coastal ADVENTURE
We had a great coastal adventure in Oregon at Ecola State Park. It was full of sea caves, hidden beaches and even a waterfall right on the beach! We hiked through a beautiful, mossy, tree lined path that led to the hidden Crescent beach and explored the vast rock formations. We found amazing hidden sea caves and had the place practically all to ourselves. Then we walked South to Cannon Beach and saw Haystack Rock (or The Goonies Rock) and found even more exciting sea caves. It was a great day of exploration on the Oregon Coast.
