Japan Train Bento Top 8 Must-Buy at Tokyo Station | Japanese Street Food Tour
Japanese Street Food Tour and Japan Train Bento / ekiben Top 8 Guide at Tokyo Station. This Tokyo Guide shows what Shinkansen Bento to buy when at Tokyo Station for Japan travelers. This Food Tour of Tokyo Station reviews eikiben food shop options and recommends my favorite Japanese bentos. Street Food in Japan is amazing and the Japanese food offered at Tokyo station is a must try.
Tokyo station is one the main transportation hubs connecting local and shinkansen train lines. But what a lot of people don’t realize, is that Tokyo station has some of the most incredible food shops in Tokyo. And some of the bentos are a must pickup, before getting on a long shinkansen train ride.
Basically, there are 4 main bento shopping areas at Tokyo station. Ecute Keiyo Street, South Court Ecute, Ekibenya Matsuri and Gransta. Gransta is on the basement floor, while the other 3 are on the 1st floor.
Bento (弁当 bentō) is a single-portion take-out or home-packed meal common in Japanese cuisine. A traditional bento holds rice or noodles, fish or meat, with pickled and cooked vegetables, in a box.
Containers range from disposable mass-produced to hand-crafted lacquerware. Bento are readily available in many places throughout Japan, including convenience stores, bento shops (弁当屋 bentō-ya), railway stations, and department stores.
Ekiben (駅弁, railway boxed meals) are a specific type of bento boxed meals, sold on trains and train stations in Japan. They come with disposable chopsticks (when necessary) or spoons. Ekiben containers can be made from plastic, wood, or ceramic. Many train stations have become famous for their ekiben made from local food specialties (tokusanhin).
Ekiben were first sold in railway stations in the late 19th century, and developed at a time when meals on train were necessary during a long train journey.
Tokyo Station (東京駅 Tōkyō-eki) is a railway station in the Chiyoda City, Tokyo, Japan. The original station is located in Chiyoda's Marunouchi business district near the Imperial Palace grounds. The newer Eastern extension is not far from the Ginza commercial district.

Curry Restaurants in Japan: Going on a spicy journey to the city of curry Kanda!
When thinking about curry, India and Southeast Asia comes to mind. What most people don't know is that Japanese people LOVE curry. There even is a whole area in Tokyo dedicated to the spicy treat. That's Kanda!
With a more than 400 curry restaurants, Kanda is often called curry battlefield or the sanctuary of Japanese curry.
Curry isn't just curry. There are countless variations, such as Japanese style curry rice, curry bread, curry udon, curry ramen, European style curry, Indian curry, Thai curry, Asian curry and so on!
From the end of August until the end of November every year, a Stamp Rally event takes place in the area surrounding Kanda. A huge number of participants eat at as many curry places they can to collect stamps in order to win the title Kanda Curry Meister.
In addition, at the Kanda Curry Grand Prix held in November, the most delicious curry restaurant in the area is chosen. It is the biggest curry festival in Japan where you can eat and compare various curries at reasonable prices. Don't miss it!
But even if you can't make it in the curry season - that's no problem!
The city of curry Kanda with its spicy and delicious scent is awaiting you all year round.
Stay tuned for more information about unique curry restaurants in Kanda!

Hi guys! I did another episode of TOKYO EXTRA! This was a really short episode so I just went to the cat shrine at Gotokuji! I've never seen so many cat statues in 1 place! It was cool but kinda creepy at the same time haha. Unfortunately it is a very short vlog because I was really busy that day, had to run back home and pack for my next trip :(

【Y. & SONS】
Found right next to the ‘torii’ gate of the 1,300-year-old Kanda Shrine, worshipped as the protector of Edo (the old name for Tokyo), is ‘kimono tailor’ Y. & Sons.
Specialising in kimono for men, they combine the traditional garb with modern-era accessories and work to discover and transmit the contemporary charms of the kimono.
Last summer they opened a pop-up store at Isetan Shinjuku, showcasing a yukata robe you can wear casually to the beach.
This year they’re planning to collaborate with music festivals.

I was walking around Yaesu Central Entrance of Tokyo Station from JR Yamanote Line platform. Yaesu Central Entrance is located on the east side of the station. “Served by Shinkansen high-speed rail lines, Tokyo Station is the main inter-city rail terminal in Tokyo. It is the busiest station in Japan in terms of a number of trains per day (over 3,000), and the fifth-busiest in Eastern Japan in terms of passenger throughput. Conveyor Belt Sushi in Japan | TOKYO FOOD GUIDE
Conveyor belt sushi is a MUST-TRY if you visit Japan! In this video, I'll show you my 2 favorite kaitenzushi (conveyor belt sushi in Japanese) in Tokyo: Hanamaru and Sushi Nova. Hanamaru is a traditional conveyor belt sushi where you can grab what you want off the belt as well as ordering from the chef, whereas Sushi Nova (which is also called Sushi Kappa) lets you order from an iPad and delivers the food on the belt. Both are absolutely delicious and offer great value for the quality.
Check out this all-you-can-eat sushi place with me:
Don't forget to leave me suggestions in the comment section if you have any restaurants you want me to show in Tokyo! And as always, feel free to ask any questions! (*^▽^)/
Places mentioned:
HANAMARU SUSHI
〒100-0005 Tokyo, Chiyoda, Marunouchi, 2 Chome−7−2, JPタワー KITTE Mall - across the street from JR Tokyo Station South Exit or 3min walk from Nijubashimae Station Exit 4 (they have another location in Ginza as well)
SUSHI NOVA/KAPPA
〒150-0001 Tokyo, 渋谷区Jingumae, 5丁目52−5 青山オーバルビル
*About 3min walk from Omotesando Station Exit B4
UPDATE: sadly this place has closed down (T⌓T) I was always amazed that it had great quality but affordable food but not many people in a touristy area. I hope to hunt for a new sushi place and I'll show that once I find a satisfactory option o(^◇^)o

21 Secrets & Things to do in Tokyo, Japan
My Tokyo travel guide includes 21 secrets, things to do and best places to visit which I carefully selected for this ultimate Japan travel experience. You won't believe number #6 which is a must-see attraction. Subscribe to my channel ► for weekly videos!
I have visited Tokyo many times to create this new travel guide video and includes gems like the Parasite Museum, Robot Restaurant, Kawaii Monster Cafe and tips for the vivid Tokyo nightlife. The places featured are split up by district so you can easily do multiple things in the same area to save yourself precious time in this expensive city.
The first thing you have to remember about Tokyo is that it doesn't have an actual city center, but has huge districts with each their own city center. Everything is very spread out in this massive metropolitan city so try to at least visit a new district every day. For instance: Shinjuku, Harajuku & Shibuya on day 1. Roppongi, Chiyoda, Akasaka, Tsukiji & Ginza on day 2 and Akihabara, Ikebukuro and Koenji on day 3.

Bookworms welcome! An introduction to the world's largest book city Jimbocho!
If you love books, Jimbocho is the place to go!
With about 200 bookstores, Jimbocho has a lot to offer. Most of the bookshops sell antique and rare books, however, they also offer a variety of other print media, such as old maps, old movie posters, and movie scripts. Furthermore, some bookstores are specialized in one genre, such as manga (comic) books, architecture related books, and art books and exhibition catalogs. Whether you are doing some research on old Japan, you study Japanese, or you are just looking for some nice home decor articles, Jimbocho is worth a visit!
These are some of our bookstore recommendations!
◆ ◆ ◆
◆ ◆ Antique books, maps and woodblock prints from the Edo period: OHYA SHOBO
Ohya Shobo
The first thing that catches your eye is the huge map of Edo Tokyo in the shop window of this bookstore. When entering the shop, shelves over shelves filled with antique books and scripts from the Edo period (1603-1868) will astonish you. The shop offers books from every genre you could think of, such as history, literature, art, calligraphy, tea ceremony, martial arts, medicine, picture books, etc. Old maps and ukiyo-e woodblock prints can be used as beautiful home decor.
◆ ◆ Art books, catalogs and artist's memoirs: BOHEMIAN'S GUILD
Bohemian's Guild
This is a must-go bookstore for everyone who loves art! The store offers an eclectic collection of foreign and Japanese art books, artists' books, and exhibition catalogs. Behind the cash register and on the second floor, several showcases show original art pieces by Takehisa Yumeji, Ogai Mori's drafts and letters from Ryunosuke Akutagawa.
◆ ◆ All about architecture - from old books to the latest volumes: NANYODO SHOTEN
Nanyodo Shoten
This bookstore is all about architecture. So it comes as no surprise that the building of the shop itself is a beautiful concrete architecture with a large window that makes the structure look light and welcoming. The first and second-floor offer are old and new Japanese architecture books as well as magazine back numbers, while the 3rd-floor has a collection of Western books.
◆ ◆ Looking for the latest manga issues or cute accessories? Check out BOOKS SANSEIDO
Books Sanseido
With over 1.4 million books of each genre, this bookstore is like a department store for books. If you are looking for the latest Japanese manga, go to the Comic Station on the 6th floor. The huge comic corner offers everything from manga classics to the latest issues. The hand-drawn signature boards of famous manga artist are also worth a look.
◆ ◆ Need a break? Read a book in a Japanese retro café!
Jimbocho area isn't only famous for its bookstores, but also for its retro cafes. One of the most popular ones is the Sabouru, which is nestled in a back alley close to Jimbocho station. The cottage style café seems like a cozy cave and once you go in, you don't want to leave ever again. The settled lighting is just bright enough to read a book. Here, you get great coffee - but if you want to order the local's favorite, you should go for the strawberry juice!
◆ ◆ ◆
Stay tuned for more information about Jimbocho in the future!

Tokyo | Our First 24 Hours In Tokyo | 東京
I Genuinely Can't Believe The Things You Can Do In Japan | Our First 24 Hours In Tokyo
Tokyo has so much to do you could spend weeks exploring this epic city! But if you only have a short time, what things should you prioritise? Check out our first 24 hours in Tokyo for some ideas, inspiration and some giggles!
Digital art museum - Awesome for some surreal selfies and the odd collision with a mirror in the dark! Heads up - It gets SUPER busy, even if you arrive before it opens. If you are visiting with kids definitely get upstairs, there is an awesome kid friendly section that your little ones will love.
Karaoke - Loads of places around, super cheap and lots of fun :-) Sorry we had to edit our WONDERFUL singing out due to copyright requirements - I think you might be grateful for that!
Beautiful city temple - called the Atago shrine and is only a short walk from Shimbashi train station (JR line). To be honest we have visited MANY temples in Asia, but this one has a real charm and beauty that surprised us for an inner city temple. It is ornate, beautiful and very Jap-tastic.
Crazy rainbow food and a clash of esoteric Japanese fashion - Harajuku street and the surrounding walking streets are perfect for crazy fun and food that doesn't look real. Things are pretty pricey - so it is worth seeing it as an experience and enjoying the random craziness.
The Shibuya crossing. This giant crossing is too much fun - like many enamoured foreigners we found ourselves going back and forward and filming the chaos.... but the absolute best part for us was how ridiculously cute baby boy was... it melts us every time we watch it!
Genki sushi: A 2 minute walk from the Shibuya crossing - just of Shibuya Centre Street (a walking street) - great prices for Japan and the sushi was a dream. We ate far too much and did NOT regret it!
Awesome budget hostel - Bocchi Hostel was cheap, clean, comfy and pretty spacious. It is a little out of the way. It is about a 15 minute walk from Minami-senju station (which is on the JR line). Book in advance.

VIDEO GAME (When Imaginary)
Akihabara (秋葉原?) is a district in the Chiyoda ward of Tokyo, Japan. The name Akihabara is a shortening of Akibagahara (秋葉が原?, autumn leaf field), which ultimately comes from Akiba (秋葉?), named after a fire-controlling deity of a firefighting shrine built after the area was destroyed by a fire in 1869.[1]
Akihabara gained the nickname Akihabara Electric Town (秋葉原電気街 Akihabara Denki Gai?) shortly after World War II for being a major shopping center for household electronic goods and the post-war black market.[2][3] Nowadays, Akihabara is considered by many to be an otaku cultural center and a shopping district for video games, anime, manga, and computer goods. Icons from popular anime and manga are displayed prominently on the shops in the area, and numerous maid cafés are found throughout the district.
Sega Games Co., Ltd.[a] (stylized as SEGA)[b] is a Japanese multinational video game developer and publisher headquartered in Tokyo. Its international branches, Sega of America and Sega Europe, are respectively headquartered in Irvine, California and London. Sega's arcade division, once part of Sega Corporation, has existed as Sega Interactive Co., Ltd. since 2015. Both companies are subsidiaries of Sega Holdings Co., Ltd., which is in turn a part of Sega Sammy Holdings.
Sega was founded by Martin Bromley and Richard Stewart as Nihon Goraku Bussan[c] on June 3, 1960. The company became known as Sega Enterprises, Ltd. after acquiring Rosen Enterprises, an importer of coin-operated games. Sega developed its first coin-operated game with Periscope in the late 1960s. In 1969, Sega was sold to Gulf and Western Industries. Following a downturn in the arcade business in the early 1980s, Sega began to develop video game consoles, starting with the SG-1000 and Master System, but struggled against competitors such as the Nintendo Entertainment System. In 1984, Sega executives David Rosen and Hayao Nakayama led a management buyout of the company with backing from CSK Corporation.
Sega released its next console, the Sega Genesis (known as the Mega Drive outside North America), in 1988. Although it was a distant third in Japan, the Genesis found major success after the release of Sonic the Hedgehog in 1991 and briefly outsold its main competitor, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, in the U.S. However, later in the decade, Sega suffered commercial failures such as the 32X, Sega Saturn, and Dreamcast consoles. In 2001, Sega stopped manufacturing consoles to become a third-party developer and publisher, and was acquired by Sammy Corporation in 2004. In the years since the acquisition, Sega has been more profitable. Sega Holdings Co. Ltd. was established in 2015, with Sega Corporation being renamed Sega Games Co., Ltd. and its arcade, entertainment, and toys divisions separated into other companies.
Sega produces multi-million-selling game franchises including Sonic the Hedgehog, Total War, and Yakuza, and is the world's most prolific arcade game producer. It also operates amusement arcades and produces other entertainment products, including Sega Toys. As a company, Sega is retrospectively remembered for its time supporting its own video game consoles, its creativity, and its innovations. It has been criticized for misguided business decisions and a loss of development creativity.
