Vieille église Saint Germain de Carteret
La vieille église Saint-Germain est un édifice catholique de la Manche, situé à Carteret.
Elle est construite au début du XIIe siècle sur le cap de Carteret et dédiée à Saint Germain le Scot. La première mention trouvée date de 1125, année où elle est donnée à l'abbaye du Mont-Saint-Michel par Renaud de Carteret. D'autres parties datent du XVe siècle, dont une chapelle voûtée sur croisée d'ogives.
Il n'en reste aujourd'hui que les murs nord et sud de la nef et du chœur.
Menacée par la mer, l'église est abandonnée entre 1686 et 1689, et partiellement démolie : ses pierres servent à l'agrandissement de l'église Saint-Louis, qui prend sa suite en 1684 pour la célébration du culte.

Barneville-Carteret is a commune in the Manche department in the Normandy region of north-western France. For many years it has been a popular seaside resort destination.
Barneville Carteret resulted from a merger of two communes in 1964: Barneville-sur-Mer and Carteret whose port has ferry connections to the Channel Islands. The inhabitants of the commune are known as Barnevillais or Barnevillaises and Carteretais or Carteretaises.
Barneville-Carteret is located on the west coast of the Cotentin Peninsula some 40 km south by south-west of Cherbourg and 10 km north of Portbail. Access to the commune is by highway D650 from Les Moitiers-d'Allonne to the north which passes through the north of the commune and continues south-east following the coast to Le Pont de La Roque. The commune is both a seaside resort and a port.
The Port of Carteret is the present port of Barneville-Carteret. Sometimes called a port of the isles, it is located on the right bank of the mouth of the Gerfleur River, at the end of Cape Carteret. A rescue station was built in 1865. The large pier and south mole were completed in 1880. In the following year a ferry began service to Jersey. The small port was used as a shelter for fishermen during spring tide, In 1945 the port was enlarged with the help of combat engineers from the American 280th Battalion stationed in Carteret.

Barneville Beach is a residential area consisting primarily of campsites and vacation homes. The city is quiet out of season but experiences heavy traffic during the summer. The resort area spreads into the neighbouring town of Saint-Jean-de-la-Rivière, which was built on an ancient sand dune.

Cape Carteret is a rocky promontory of Cambrian origin on the Côte des Isles, in the town of Barneville-Carteret in the Channel. Barneville-Carteret is located on the west coast of the Cotentin Peninsula some 40 km south by south-west of Cherbourg and 10 km north of Portbail.
Located opposite the Channel Islands, it has always been a natural place of observation, allowing in fine weather a view of the islands of Sark and Jersey (the cape is the nearest continental point to Jersey, 22 km distant ) and on the south coast of Cotentin to Granville. It marks a limit between the coast of the harbors to the south and a more rocky coast in the north with dunes high perched, not far, the dunes of Hatainville protected by the Conservatoire du Littoral.
At the lighthouse, recently restored low dry-stone walls help preserve the site and guide visitors along the cliff tops.

Pour le plus grand coefficient de 2013, c'est dans le nord du Cotentin que nous nous sommes déplacés, au Cap de la Hague. Port Racine est souvent considéré comme étant le plus petit port de France.
Ouvert sur la mer et à même l'estran, sans bassin creusé ni chenal, ce charmant mouillage est protégé par deux solides digues de pierres. De longs cordages les relient l'une à l'autre, faisant penser à une toile de fils à laquelle sont arrimées des barques de pêcheurs. L'été, le port attire du monde : promeneurs, ou vacanciers venant y profiter du soleil, assis contre les quelques cabines qui le longent ou encore sur son fond sableux, quand la mer est basse. À défaut d'une dynamique de marée impressionnante, c'est la réputation du site, sa beauté et sa vie estivale qui font l'intérêt de cette vidéo.
