In France, dressing nicely is considered good manners, but not looking like a tourist is also a practical matter in Paris. The more you fit in, the less of a target you’ll be for scammers, pickpockets and people trying to sell you stuff you don’t want. It will also save you being stared at by disapproving locals in restaurants. You will get better service wherever you go if you are dressed according to French custom.'

A Video Tour of Paris, France. Paris France Points of Interest & Paris France Attractions. Many guests choose to enjoy a tour of Paris before or after their cruise. Paris, the ‘City of Lights', is one of the world's truly great cities. The River Seine, lifeblood of the city, splits it neatly in two, flowing past the Ile de la Cité and the famous cathedral of Notre Dame. The history and culture of Paris can also be discovered throughout its distinctive districts. The village atmosphere of hilly Montmartre with its elegant landmark the Sacre Coeur; the Marais district and its winding streets that evoke medieval Paris; and the grand 19th century boulevards that dominate so much of the city.

Paris has so much to offer with its huge variety of heritage, architecture and culture, from the grace of the Louvre Museum, to the ultra-modern Opera de la Bastille; from the wondrous Eiffel Tower, to the Champs-Elysées headed by the Arc de Triomphe. All this, together with wonderful restaurants and some of the best shopping in the world make Paris an unmissable place to visit.

Many people choose to visit Paris before or after their cruise, a visit in contrast to the peace and relaxation of the cruise itself. What is hotel barging?
Despite the growing popularity of cruising, especiallly on large river vessels, hotel barging is still a little known niche concept. Most hotel barges started life as cargo vessels but have since been painstakingly converted to offer luxury boutique accommodation for small groups of up to 20 passengers.
This is cruising, but in a very different style to ships plying the big rivers or oceans. The pace is slow, with a 6 day cruise covering maybe just 50 miles along a rural canal. Passengers can walk or bike the towpaths as their floating hotel glides gently along. Guests enjoy an intimate atmosphere, high levels of personal service and immersion into the culture, history and gastronomy of regions of Europe such as Burgundy, the Midi, or the Italian Veneto.
Every day there is an excursion, perhaps to a chateau, a vineyard for a wine tasting, or some other ‘off the beaten track’ location. About half of European Waterways’ bookings are for whole boat charters, ideal for families. Otherwise, clients book a cabin to join other like-minded people. Victoria Apartment in Paris, France
This is a light and spacious one bedroom luxury apartment in the first arrondissement, the very center of Paris. Located on the 5th floor of a 1860 Haussmann building on a quiet, tree-lined avenue only steps from the banks of the Seine and minutes from Notre Dame Cathedral, the Louvre, the Marais District or the Latin Quarter. The Chatelet metro station is a block away.
The Victoria apartment is very centrally located... almost in the exact geographic center of Paris. It is on a small side street one block from the Chatelet plaza with its beautiful fountain. The apartment is also one block from the quay along the Seine and adjacent to the transportation apex of the metro and bus network for Paris. There are many busses... and the metro is just at the end of the block. From this location you can literally walk to the following destinations: - Ile de la Cite (the original site of Paris) and Place Dauphine - Notre Dame Cathedral and La Chapelle - The Louvre - The historic 17 Century Maris district and the Pompidou center - The Ile Saint Louis - The Place Saint Michel on the Left bank and the Latin Quarter... and the Sorbonne - The Saint Germain des Pres district
The main metro line at Chatelet is line 1 and it runs directly to the Champs Elysées, Arch de Triumph, the Place de la Concorde, and the les Tuileries in one direction and the Place de la Bastille and the eastern side of the Marais district in the other direction. There is also a taxi stand just at the end of the block at the fountain/plaza.
Originally a typical Beaux Arts style apartment, the recent renovation and contemporary furnishings have added a modern twist to the elegant decor. Through two doors equipped with electronic card readers, you enter into the renovated historic hallway with access to the elevator; a short set of steps leads from the elevator to the apartment.
The large and impressive living room has high ceilings and two tall double-glazed windows (with black-out curtains) giving attractive wide views of the sky and street below. The classic feel of the original marble fireplace and over-mantle mirror is contrasted with the modern - and very comfortable - queen size sofa bed.
The bedroom is pleasant and light, also with two tall windows and black-out curtains. It has its own original polished marble fireplace and a very generous amount of built in wardrobe space. There is a separate flat screen television. The bed is queen size with a deep but firm mattress. Bed linens and towels are of the finest quality and there is an iPod player on the mantleplace.
The dining room features large windows as well and is contiguous with the kitchen but can be completely separated by an ingenious system of 'pocket doors' which slide away completely when not needed. The elegant Gustavian dining room table will seat four.
In the Swedish style kitchen there is a catalytic oven, vitroceramic stove with four hot plates, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and a very effective exhaust hood. All cooking utensils and other small appliances are top quality.
The large bathroom has a full size shower, basin, designer toilet and bidet, as well as a mirrored cabinet with power outlet. (A hairdryer and bathroom radio are provided.) A washer and separate dryer are located in a built-in cupboard (instructions are in English).
The apartment is equipped with fax and answering machine and two Ethernet DSL internet connection outlets and Wi-Fi.
Two LCD televisions plus cable decoders with 150 channels including CNN and BBC, a DVD player and a separate CD and radio sound systems complete the entertainment lineup.
In the hall closet, as well as space for baggage storage, there is a cyclonic HEPA vacuum cleaner, steam iron and ironing board plus a personal safe. The apartment has smoke alarms and a fire extinguisher.
SPECIAL NOTE: The elevator access is to alternate floors. There are ten steps to walk up from the elevator landing to the apartment if you press #4 or you can walk down if you press #6.

Paris is one of the most magical cities in the world! But man, it can be tough figuring out where to eat and drink like a local. It’s a city that is so popular with tourists - and that means there is an overwhelming choice of places and a fair few tourist traps to avoid!
So to celebrate our fantastic Ultimate Paris Food Tour I teamed up with our local Devour Paris expert Jess Timmins to take you to 11 places where to you can try some of the must-try tastes in this incredible city.
We focused our food tour in Le Marais district, which is a gorgeous historic part of Paris with lots of family-run business and beautiful winding streets, some of which are as they were centuries ago.
