Elephant Green Hill Project - Chiang Mai- Thailand Vlog # 72
Eure Anni

Elephant Sanctuary - Elephant Green Hill - Chang Mai Thailand
Our trip to Chang Mai Thailand. My favorite part of traveling Thailand includes visiting Saddle Off Elephant projects where the elephants are no longer working or performing in the tourism industry. They get to be elephants. You can walk with and watch them forage freely, bathe, feed, prepare foods etc and participate in their daily regime. This was one of my favorites! They are newly joined to Asian Elephant Projects in Thailand.

One of the best days of my life!
If you come to Chiang Mai, don't miss out on visiting an ethical elephant sanctuary. Please do your research before booking anything! Riding elephants is cruel. Elephants are abused and terrorised; they undergo extreme restaints to crush their spirits.

TH Travels: Elephant Nature Park, Chiang Mai, Thailand
We spent 2 days at the Elephant Nature Park animal sanctuary in Chiang Mai, Thailand. It was an incredible experience that completely opened our eyes to the lives of elephants that work for a living, particularly in the tourism business. All the elephants at this sanctuary were either rescued from dangerous environments or brought to the sanctuary for medical care for injuries received in the wild or in captivity. For more information on visiting or volunteering at the sanctuary, or other ways to help, please visit elephantnaturepark.org

Our sanctuary is located in Chiang Mai in the mountainous terrains of Northern Thailand, Chiang Mai is the largest city in Northern Thailand, was the capital of the kingdom of Lin Na and is famed for being a haven for elephants. The elephant is the official National animal and it is renowned for its strength and intelligence and has always being associated with royalty and wealth.
*** Who we are ***
Our elephant Camp is a small family camp in the region of Mae Wang, close to Chiang Mai. The size of our camp is a rare advantage, because you get to be closer to the elephants and experience nature in all its glory. We are people from the White Karen hill tribe, we used to live for thousand of years with elephants in our villages. Elephants are more than just animals for us, they are our friends and they can be yours too.
*** What we do ***
Nowadays, villagers do not use anymore elephants to help them in the jungle and for agriculture, and we have less and less animals in the forest. The decrease in their number means that the ones left have more value, they are gentle giants that are adorable and intelligent. At Thong Elephant Sanctuary we want to save them and offer them a nice place to live freely. Our camp is an eco-tourism project that is also sustainable. So, by visiting the elephants, you are having fun with the adorable creatures and improving the wellbeing of the indigenous peoples and also improving the economy.
*** What you get ***
In our camp, you get to learn more about the history of elephants in the kingdom of Thailand, and how important they have been, why are they are national treasures. You also get to take free pictures with them, pictures that you can always smile at whenever you see them. You'll also learn amazing things about elephants, the different species of elephants and how to differentiate them. You get to take them to the mud spa and enjoy a good time giving them a wash while you also have immeasurable fun, we promise you a great time.

Chiang Mai Elephant Sanctuary – Sunshine for Elephants – Asian Elephant Projects
Sunshine for Elephants is an ethical elephant sanctuary near Chiang Mai. The project was established to help a former trekking camp transition out of elephant riding and adopt a more compassionate approach to elephant tourism. The elephants living here are relishing their retirement from logging and elephant riding and instead spend much of their day wandering the jungle, foraging on native vegetation with time to relax and interact with each other.
Visitors get to spend plenty of time with the elephants, feeding them fruit, walking with them along enchanting forest trails, and swimming with the elephants in the river. Observing the elephants in a natural environment as part of a small group offers some great photo opportunities. Guests are invited to assist with reforestation efforts by tying blessed ochre colored sashes around the trunks of trees to protect them from being cut down, as well as plant saplings in the rainy season. By visiting this project you are supporting ethical elephant tourism in Asia and helping to make projects like this sustainable so that they can continue to provide a better life for elephants.

The Elephant Jungle Sanctuary is an ethical and sustainable eco-tourism project in Northern Thailand - an initiative between members of the Karen hill-tribes and Chiang Mai locals. The sanctuary provides as many thai elephants as possible with good health, freedom, and happiness! They hope to lead by example and contribute to a positive change in the perception of elephants.
This is one of the most beautiful experiences I've had here in Thailand. The elephants are MASSIVE in real life, something the camera cannot even capture! It was a humbling experience to be with these beautiful, intelligent, and happy elephants. Thank you for sharing this joyful day with me!
Sending smiles your way :)

Day 2 in Thailand, Green Elephant Sanctuary Park Phuket
Day 2 in Thailand, Green Elephant Sanctuary Park Phuket : Ethical Elephant Experience. Thailand still has a lot of places where people ride elephants. At this place they rescue them and some are still scared of human beings.
This was a great interaction with the elephants, No riding and they are not chained at night. If you go to Phuket I highly recommend this place. It was R1240 each and it was worth it.
They have two tours, one in the morning and one in the afternoon here is their website:
Green Elephant Sanctuary | Phuket
After visiting a terrible Elephant Park on our last adventure to Thailand which included riding and big hooks we were sold on the idea of visiting an Elephant Sanctuary which would be good for the Elephants.
We choose Green Elephant Sanctuary in Phuket and the experience was totally awesome along with the facilities and transport to and from the hotel.
My only concern and hopefully someone can prove me wrong is that it appears the elephants are no better off as they have very little space and are either in their holding pens or out working with the customers being feed or having a bath. I didn't see any space for them to roam like I would have expected from a sanctuary.
I feel that this is the latest marketing ploy in Thailand to name them a Sanctuary which will make everything better as i said hopefully someone can prove me wrong as we had a fantastic time as you will see in the video.
If you do decide to visit the elephants this is a great experience and perfect for people of all ages.
Any questions please comment and let us know.

Thailand Elephant Sanctuary - Bathing Elephants & Chiang Mai Zoo
Fun times in Chiang Mai! Probably the funnest activities we've done so far in Thailand in fact. We visited elephants at the Maeklang Elephant Sanctuary and went to the Chiang Mai Zoo!
The elephant sanctuary was an amazing experience. We got shuttled from Chiang Mai up into the hillside with beautiful views until arriving at Maeklang Sanctuary. There we got educated on elephant rescues and how well they are treated in sanctuaries as opposed to parks / general tourism animal use. We washed bananas to feed the majestic elephants and then got to feed them by hand! It was surreal. After the feeding we then got to watch them roll in the mud before bathing them off in the river. (Elephants don't sweat so have to self temperature regulate) Once we started throwing buckets of water on top of them in the river and watching the little ones roll around and play, the big elephant started splashing us with his trunk! Another cool trick he would do is suck up water into his trunk and then spray it in the air like a giant fountain. The whole visit to Maeklang Elephant Conservation Sanctuary exceeded my expectations and was a blast, would highly recommend if looking for something to do in Chiang Mai or a place to visit elephants in Thailand.
The next day we went to the Chiang Mai Zoo and Aquarium. I'm a zoo fan as it is and this one certainly didn't disappoint either. It's open from 8:30 am until 5:00 pm and we were there basically that whole time walking around the park. The Chiang Mai Zoo had monkeys, big cats, an elephant bears and more. We even stumbled upon a Serow at the end who was in a more secluded are of the park and he was so playful! He ran up and down the fence with me, and then if I would stop and stare at him he would start stomping his feet and move a little until we would run around some more. Was sad leaving my little friend behind but if you ever visit Chiang Mai Zoo, visit my Serow for me and keep him company! The Aquarium portion was pretty cool and a nice cool down as well. It actually costs more than the zoo entrance fee (can buy separate or a bundle pass at the entrance, but if you change your mind and want to add on the aquarium pass once in the park it actually costs even more at the Aquarium gate itself. Just fyi) Nothing too crazy in there compared to some other aquariums but still had a few unique finds and the AC was a nice break from walking the hot park all day. One of the surprises was actually a smaller type of glass fish, you could see right through its transparent body to it's skeletal structure and organs inside. So weird.
Busy few days in Chiang Mai but if you're looking for some fun day activities to do I would definitely recommend both of these. Great way to actually experience Thailand and see the hills of Chiang Mai as well as opposed to just Chiang Mai city (Still beautiful though).
Next video we take in some of the town life of Chiang Mai. We visit the busiest market in Chiang Mai, the Sunday Night Market in Chiang Mai old city, walk around the Nimman district located near Chiang Mai university so plenty of stores and a pretty hip area, and wander around the streets after sundown.
Thanks for stopping by and visiting today! If you've made it this far in or liked the video feel free to hit the like button / leave us a comment and chat with us / subscribe for more content! It means a lot to us. ????
Take care and we'll see you next video!

Ethical Tourism - Elephant Riding | Elephant Nature Park Chiang Mai
Ethical Tourism - Elephant Riding! Elephant Nature Park near Chiang Mai is helping to combat the huge tourist attraction of riding Elephants. We vote each time we spend our money and there are a lot of practices in tourism that have been built on unethical principles. Being aware and doing your research can help change the world for the better.
