Yosemite National Park - Elizabeth Lake and where to begin
Driving Directions: The trailhead leaves from the Tuolumne Meadows campground, which is near the eastern edge of Tuolumne Meadows. From the Tioga Pass entrance, take the Tioga Road 8 miles (12.5 km) to the campground entrance. From Yosemite Valley, take highway 120 10 miles (16 km) north to the Tioga Road turnoff at Crane Flat, then take the Tioga Road 39 miles (62 km) to the campground.
The campground is near the eastern end of Tuolumne Meadows, just east of the general store. Pull in at a small stone building with a campground reservations sign on it; the campground is just behind. The trailhead is roughly half a mile from the campground entrance, and you can drive directly to it. The Google Street View vehicle hasn't made it all the way to the trailhead yet, but here's a panorama view of the campground turnoff, with Lembert Dome lurking in the background.
Parking: at the trailhead, which is at the far end of the Tuolumne Meadows campground. Drive into the campground, and as soon as you pass the entrance booth you'll spot signs pointing you to the Elizabeth Lake trailhead. The lot features not only bathrooms, but half a dozen bear-proof food containers as well.

a very nice little hike to get use to being at 10,000 feet.
Yosemite National Park's Gaylor Lake Trail
This hike is at Yosemite National Park right at the Tioga pass entrance. It's a little bit strenuous but a very rewarding 2 mile round trip hike. This is one of the most beautiful lakes I've seen in Yosemite.

Yosemite: Tenaya Lake
Tenaya Lake is a lake in Yosemite National Park, located between Yosemite Valley and Tuolumne Meadows.
Tenaya Lake was created by the Tenaya branch of the Tuolumne Glacier as it passed through Tenaya Canyon. The lake is supplied by a network of creeks and springs including Murphy Creek to the northwest and Tenaya Creek. Tenaya Creek is an outflow of Cathedral Lakes and serves as both the principle inlet and outlet of Tenaya Lake. Tenaya Creek also runs through Tenaya Canyon into Yosemite Valley. The surface of Tenaya Lake has an elevation of 8,150 feet (2,484 m).
Tenaya Lake is named after Chief Tenaya, who met the Mariposa Brigade near the shores of the lake. Tenaya protested that the lake already had a name: Pie-we-ack, or Lake of the Shining Rocks. This original name is now attached to a granite dome to the east of the lake.
According to the U.S. National Park Service, problems associated with visitor use have been persistent for decades. The Park Service has commissioned The Tenaya Lake Area Plan, a formal study and action plan to address solutions to these issues.

Gaylor Lakes - Yosemite National Park (HD)
The hike to Gaylor Lakes traverses one of the highest maintained trails in Yosemite National Park, and offers some of the most spectacular high-country views off Tioga Road. It begins from Tioga Pass, at an elevation of 9945 feet, and reaches heights of 10,540 feet along the saddle ridge between Gaylor Peak and the unnamed mountain to the south.
The hike begins with a fairly steep climb, which gains almost 600 feet during the first six-tenths of a mile. This is the hardest part of the hike, and will surely take your breath away, especially if you're not acclimated to the altitude. From this point forward, however, the trail travels along mostly easy to moderate terrain.
At the top of the saddle you'll be rewarded with spectacular views of Dana Meadows and 12,117-foot Mammoth Peak to the south, 12,764-foot Mt. Gibbs towards the southeast, and 13-053 Mt. Dana towards the east. On the other side of the ridge you'll have a birds-eye view of Middle Gaylor Lake and the entire Gaylor Lakes Basin.
