Skiing in SkiWelt Tirol - Winter Guide
It’s quite possibly one of the largest ski resorts I’ve ever been to, and I’ve been to my fair share. The SkiWelt story began 40 years ago, when six villages between Brixental and the Wilder Kaiser linked up to form SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser – Brexental (the full name).
SkiWelt is made up of 9 towns and villages, listed below. They’ve since invested millions of euros into the infrastructure and ski lifts, created jobs and built SkiWelt up in to a thriving resort and snow lover’s paradise.
For the video, we decided to set a challenge, and try to complete 25 different runs, without repeating a run, in just 3 hours. This was going to be some serious skiing, and with the help of our guide and local expert Janine, we set off in the morning. To see if we completed the challenge you’ll just have to watch the video above, it was very close!

The Wilder Kaiser holiday region in Tirol/Austria is readily accessible from anywhere in Europe by public transport.
Once here, getting around the local area is largely free of charge or inexpensive. The free-of-cost KaiserJet is the Wilder Kaiser region’s most important means of transport. It connects village centres, bathing lakes, indoor pools, excursion destinations, the starts of hiking trails and the cable cars.

Ellmau - Skiing fit for kings!
The resort of Ellmau, easily reached via the Inntalautobahn, is one of the numerous winter sports resorts around the Hohe Salve, at the foot of the Wilder Kaiser.
Located in the Kitzbüheler Alps, Ellmau, together with its neighboring resorts, is part of Austria’s largest connected ski area.
Modern and capable lifts and gondolas bring you to a ski area equipped with the newest snow canons that are capable of covering up to two thirds of the 250 km of pistes.
If you’d like to explore more ski areas, we recommend the lift pass ‘’Kitzbüheler Alpen,’’ which grants you access to the seven ski areas of Kitzbühel, SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental, Schneewinkel, Alpbachtal, Wildschönau, Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang and Zell am See-Kaprun.
1,085 km of piste means unlimited skiing fun! The Kitzbüheler Apls is a nearly incomprehensible sea of peaks that makes up Tyrol’s most scenic ski area.
Everyone will get their money’s worth in Ellmau: never-ending cross-country trails, fun-parks for snowboarders, fantastic downhills for all skill levels, and incredible pistes are awating your enjoyment.
Connection to the resorts Mittersill and Hollersbach as well as the connection between Westendorf and Brixen im Thale via the Choralpe are all new since the 2008/2009 season, and this makes the perfect link between the ski areas of Wilder Kaiser-Brixental and Kitzbühel.
This is how the region has come to be a part of the three largest interconnected ski areas of the world!
