The Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV) is an American non-profit and charitable organization of male descendants of Confederate veterans headquartered at the Elm Springs in Columbia, Tennessee. It is mostly known for erecting and maintaining American Civil War memorials and graves, observing Confederate Memorial Day, and encouraging Southern historical study. More recently, activists have placed new emphasis on the controversial right to display Confederate symbols in public. The organization was founded on July 1, 1896, at the City Auditorium in Richmond, Virginia, by R. E. Lee Camp, No. 1, Confederate Veterans. The objects and purpose of the Sons of Confederate Veterans is to encourage the preservation of history, perpetuate the hallowed memories of brave men, to assist in the observance of Confederate Memorial Day, to aid and support all members, and to perpetuate the record of the services of every Southern soldier.

Who The SCV Is Today
Today, the Sons of Confederate Veterans is preserving the history and legacy of these heroes so that future generations can understand the motives that animated the Southern Cause.
The SCV is the direct heir of the United Confederate Veterans, and the oldest hereditary organization for male descendants of Confederate soldiers. Organized at Richmond, Virginia in 1896, the SCV continues to serve as a historical, patriotic, and non-political organization dedicated to ensuring that a true history of the 1861-1865 period is preserved.
Membership in the Sons of Confederate Veterans is open to all male descendants of any veteran who served honorably in the Confederate armed forces.

The Oregon wild horse auction is live now! There are more than 50 horses from the South Steens herd available. See all the beautiful horses and place a bid before June 26! ????????
The horses from southeast Oregon average anywhere from 14 to 16 hands in size and from 900-1,200 pounds. Their color also varies, from pinto to buckskin, sorrel, bay, palomino, brown and black. Oregon's Wild Horse Corral Facility in Hines, Oregon, prepares all horses from the range for adoption. Before horses and burros are shipped from the facility, they are given a final brand and health inspection by a veterinarian.
All horses start out with a $125 bid.
Horses can be picked up from several locations across the country: Ewing, Illinois; Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; Elm Creek, Nebraska; Hines, Oregon; Kansas City, Kansas; Swanzey, New Hampshire; and Columbia, South Carolina.

Mississippi ( (listen)) is a state located in the southeastern region of the United States. Mississippi is the 32nd most extensive and 32nd most populous of the 50 United States. It is bordered by Tennessee to the north, Alabama to the east, the Gulf of Mexico and Louisiana to the south, and Arkansas and Louisiana to the west. The state's western boundary is largely defined by the Mississippi River. Jackson, with a population of approximately 175,000 people, is both the state's capital and largest city.
The state is heavily forested outside the Mississippi Delta area, which is the area between the Mississippi and Yazoo rivers. Before the American Civil War, most development in the state was along riverfronts, as the waterways were critical for transportation. Large gangs of slaves were used to work on cotton plantations. After the war, freedmen began to clear the bottomlands to the interior, in the process selling off timber and buying property. By the end of the 19th century, African Americans made up two-thirds of the Delta's property owners, but timber and railroad companies acquired much of the land after the financial crisis, which occurred when blacks were facing increasing racial discrimination and disfranchisement in the state.
Clearing of the land for plantations altered the Delta's ecology, increasing the severity of flooding along the Mississippi by taking out trees and bushes that had absorbed excess waters. Much land is now held by agribusinesses. A largely rural state with agricultural areas dominated by industrial farms, Mississippi is ranked low or last among the states in such measures as health, educational attainment, and median household income. The state's catfish aquaculture farms produce the majority of farm-raised catfish consumed in the United States.Since the 1930s and the Great Migration of African Americans to the North and West, the majority of Mississippi's population has been white, although the state still has the highest percentage of black residents of any U.S. state. From the early 19th century to the 1930s, its residents were majority black, and before the American Civil War that population was composed largely of African-American slaves. Democratic Party whites retained political power through disfranchisement and Jim Crow laws. In the first half of the 20th century, nearly 400,000 rural blacks left the state for work and opportunities in northern and midwestern cities, with another wave of migration around World War II to West Coast cities. In the early 1960s, Mississippi was the poorest state in the nation, with 86% of its non-whites living below the poverty level.In 2010, 37% of Mississippians were African Americans, the highest percentage of African Americans in any U.S. state. Since regaining enforcement of their voting rights in the late 1960s, most African Americans have supported Democratic candidates in local, state and national elections. Conservative whites have shifted to the Republican Party. African Americans are a majority in many counties of the Mississippi-Yazoo Delta, an area of historic slave settlement during the plantation era.
Interstate 80
Interstate 80 is a transcontinental limited-access highway in the United States that runs from downtown San Francisco, California to Teaneck, New Jersey in the New York City Metropolitan Area. The highway was designated in 1956 as one of the original routes of the Interstate Highway system. Its final segment was opened to traffic in 1986. It is the second-longest Interstate Highway in the United States, following Interstate 90. The Interstate runs through many major cities including Oakland, California, Sacramento, California, Salt Lake City, Utah, Omaha, Nebraska, Des Moines, Iowa and Toledo, Ohio, and passes within 10 miles of Chicago, Cleveland, Ohio and New York City.
I-80 is the Interstate highway that most closely approximates the route of the historic Lincoln Highway, the first road across America. The highway roughly traces other historically significant travel routes in the Western United States: the Oregon Trail across Wyoming and Nebraska, the California Trail across most of Nevada and California, the first transcontinental airmail route, and except in the Great Salt Lake area, the entire route of the First Transcontinental Railroad. From near Chicago, Illinois east to near Youngstown, Ohio, Interstate 80 is a toll road, containing the majority of both the Indiana Toll Road and the Ohio Turnpike. I-80 runs concurrent with Interstate 90 from near Portage, Indiana to Elyria, Ohio. In Pennsylvania, I-80 is known as the Keystone Shortway, a non-tolled freeway that crosses rural north-central portions of the state on the way to New Jersey and New York City.

Road Trip East Coast to West Coast Rawlins, Wyoming To Portland Or. - Day 3 Final! - July 7, 2018
This is the Day 3, the final day of driving from Raleigh, North Carolina to Portland Oregon. This day starts from where I ended on Day 2 in Rawlins, Wyoming traveling 943 miles on day 2.. Will continue in Wyoming west on Hwy 80w to Utah and Idaho on Hwy 84w into Oregon. This was the longest day 1035 miles arrived at my daughters house at 8:30 PST. What a great trip 4Runner did great only a few highway paving slow downs in Wyoming. The special Curcuma plant arrived safely as well thanks for joining me on this trip!
