It is an exhibition about the game and the return to childhood. It is an exhibition with works of art of contemporary Greek artists who accepted the invitation of the Alma Art Gallery to compose and present original and imaginative works of art. The game constitutes the children’s right and it is of fundamental significance for the mould of the personality, the safekeeping of their physical, emotional and psychological health, offers joy, pleasure and entertainment, creates bonds, boosts self-confidence and cooperation, improves the skills of socializing and interaction. The man’s tendency to play is innate and o vital significance for the cultural evolution. The game has always claimed its own leading role in human life. Every civilization, from the ancient to the modern ones, has its own games, which constitute eloquent testimonies and capture philosophies and attitudes towards life. Yet, the game has always opened itself to enjoyment and liberation.
Apostolos Chantzaras
Στο εργαστήριο του ζωγράφου Απόστολου Χαντζαρά στην Αθήνα _ Inside Apostolos Chantzaras's studio in Athens, Greece
Apostolos Chantzaras develops his own visual world of bold lines, forms and saturated colors, drawing influences from Greek folk shadow theater, ancient Greek sculptures and Byzantine iconography. A rich legacy of symbols related to Greece, the sun, the islands, the sea and its fish, the cross, the bathers, all come together in a unique, perceptible artistic amalgam empowered by strong colors and intense movement. Yet the outcome is not verbose. Chantzaras succeeds in transforming it and making it something of his own.
He was born in Agrinio-Greece in 1977. From early childhood, he studied and worked in the atelier of Byzantine Painting beside his father, Eleftherios Chantzaras.
He studied painting in the Athens School of Fine Arts under Professor Chronis Botsoglou. He also studied fresco and photography in the Athens School of Fine Arts. In 2011 he designed the cover for the novel “Glass Industry” by Menis Koumantareas, which was published by Vima newspaper, and the cover for the novel “Imaginary Adventure” by Alexandros Kotzias which was published by Kedros publishing company. In 2013 he designed the cover for the novel: Olga or nothing by Lito Pitiris, which was published by Kedros publishing company.

Refugee Children Expressing Their Emotions Through Drawings
Have you ever realised the fact that, even thought Pulitzer and World Photo Press award’s has been given to refugees photographs focused on children’s frames, none of the journalists really tried to enhance their feelings?
Have you ever realised that, according to Waldorf library, child’s drawing certainly have the power to “unburden thoughts that have not been worked through, and help create the possibility to be able to confront one’s actual living situation with renewed forces”?
As a volunteer and independent journalist, I have made myself the decision to come to Athens, Greece, not only to see how is the refugees’ situation like and help in whatever it’s necessary, but as well to promote some activities for those who are slowly and painfully losing the most precious period of life: the childhood. Every day, the drawing activities at the Piraeus’ port revels “their hops, dreams, wishes, visions, and also anxieties, fears, hurts, and worries about past and future”.
Black Dreams at Sea: The Sardine Fisherman’s Funeral and An Opera of the World
Elizabeth Alexander, poet, essayist, playwright, scholar, and president of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, and Manthia Diawara, writer, cultural theorist, film director, scholar, and professor of comparative literature and cinema studies and director emeritus of the Institute of African American Affairs, New York University
Painter Ficre Ghebreyesus (1962–2012) from Asmara, Eritrea, and filmmaker Manthia Diawara from Bamako, Mali, meet metaphorically in this program focusing on their work. Political refugees, activists, scholars, and storytellers, both men settled in the United States and found themselves working odd jobs, joining the African American community of poets and each digging into his own artistic practice. Ghebreyesus’s epic painting The Sardine Fisherman’s Funeral combines symbols, historical references, and iconography from different cultures to express a depth of feeling for the power of the sea. Diawara’s film An Opera of the World (2017), based on the African opera Bintou Were, mines the Malian filmmaker’s own migration experience against the backdrop of recent tragedies among refugees on the Mediterranean Sea. In this post-screening conversation held on March 23, 2019, at the National Gallery of Art, Manthia Diawara and Elizabeth Alexander discuss and contrast Ghebreyesus’s painting with Diawara’s filmic inquiry into the power of bearing witness.
Creativity- The Integrative Paradigm: Albert J Levis, MD at TEDxManchesterVillage
Albert Levis is a psychiatrist, born in 1937 in Athens, Greece, where he experienced, during his childhood, WWII, the Holocaust, and the Communist Civil War. Intrigued, he spent his professional career pondering on behavior, religions and ideologies. He began his search for meaning at Athens College, studying medicine in Switzerland, at the Universities of Geneva and Zurich; he completed a psychiatric residency at Yale, and launched the Center for the Study of Normative Behavior in Hamden, Connecticut. There he identified what is universal in all stories: their plot. Studying patterns that repeat, he recognized it as a natural scientific conflict resolving mechanism. This order reflected the unconscious as moral and orderly, contradicting Freud's irrational and amoral unconscious. The conflict resolution mechanism became the unit of the social sciences, integrating psychology and morality into the Moral Science, the Science of Conflict Resolution. In 1987 he published: Conflict Analysis, the Formal Theory of Behavior. He also published Conflict Analysis Training including the Conflict Analysis Battery, a personality assessment based on the analysis of creativity for self-discovery and self-help. To promote awareness of this scientific breakthrough he acquired a historic inn, and installed the exhibits of the Museum of the Creative Process. A book on the museum exhibits, Science Stealing the Fire of the Gods and Healing the World, combined with the self-assessment, represents a program of emotional education creativity and power management that may be delivered in the classroom as well as in psychotherapy.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

DIALOGUES: Stereotypes/ Synopsis
On Wednesday March 21st, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation hosted the fifth event of its monthly series DIALOGUES, on “Stereotypes”.
The event took place at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center.
How are stereotypes created? Who defines what is deemed “different”, and who is the “other”? What makes a refugee “the stranger”? How can gender identity or sexual orientation define social rights? Who can censor art, and in what ways? Why can disability lead to limited accessibility and, as a result, exclusion?
The panelists included Nujeen Mustafa, the young refugee who crossed the long road from Syria in a wheelchair and became a symbol for strength and hope reaching the coast of Lesvos, Konstantinos Rigos, Director of the Greek National Opera Ballet, Ioanna-Maria Gertsou, President of Lara Guide-Dogs Hellas and a psychologist at Agia Sofia Children's Hospital in Athens, and Jason Antigone Dane, activist for human and animal rights, who turned to the Courts for legal recognition and registration as non-binary. They discussed the stereotypes they have perceived, experienced and defied at different moments of their lives.
The DIALOGUES are curated and moderated by Anna-Kynthia Bousdoukou.

How philosophy can save your life | Jules Evans | TEDxBreda
When Jules Evans was in his late teens, he started to be plagued by panic attacks, mood swings and other emotional problems. He eventually found help in the form of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). He went to interview the inventors of CBT, and discovered they were directly inspired by ancient Greek philosophy. This started him on a five-year journey of discovery, in which he found out how life-transforming the ideas of ancient Greek philosophy can be. He met and interviewed people from many walks of life who claimed to have been greatly helped by ancient philosophy, including gangsters, astronauts, soldiers and politicians. Now, he passionately believes that the therapeutic ideas of ancient philosophy need to be rescued from the dusty museum cabinets of academia, and brought to as many people as possible, to help them improve their lives.
Regarding Jules Evans
Jules Evans is policy director at the Centre for the History of the Emotions at Queen Mary, University of London. He is also a journalist, has appeared on BBC 2′s Culture Show, on Radio 3 and 4, RTE-1, ABC Australia, and has written for The Times, Spectator, Wall Street Journal, Prospect and many other publications. His book, Philosophy for Life and Other Dangerous Situations, is being published in 19 countries, and was described as 'a revelation' by The Observer.

Master of those who Know: Aristotle as Role Model for the 21st-Century Academician
Of all the great minds of antiquity, Aristotle’s is the one which most clearly celebrated curiosity for its own sake and has most profoundly affected how we all do literature, philosophy and science. There was no constituent of the universe in which he was not interested, whether it was empirically discernible to the senses (plants, animals, planets), or lying beneath and beyond the perceptible surface of things (ethical impulses, principles of logic, time, chance). This illustrated lecture first traces some key moments in the history of the reception, perception, representation and influence of the man whom Dante called simply ‘master of those who know’, il Maestro di color che sanno.
