In a story spanning more than a century on the Babcock Ranch Preserve in Punta Gorda, Florida, they discover how a rich history of natural and cultural legacies, passed on through generations, is carried forward in America's first solar-powered town where development is balanced with the local environment here on the Charlotte Harbor Gulf Island Coast.

Overturn the Englewood 4 and Dixmoor 5 Convictions
In July 2011, Color of Change director Rashad Robinson spoke to the press in front of the Cook County building in Chicago while delivering more than 60,000 petitions to State's Attorney Anita Alvarez, calling on her to overturn the convictions of the Englewood 4 and the Dixmoor 5. Both groups of teens were convicted of rape and murder based on confessions that were proven false by DNA evidence. Representatives from the Center on Wrongful Convictions of Youth and the Exoneration Project, as well as Terrill Swift of the Englewood 4, spoke out about juvenile false confessions. In November 2011 and January 2012, respectively, the Dixmoor 5 and Englewood 4 were finally exonerated.

Millionaire's Island - Gasparilla & Boca Grande Island, Florida
Boca Grande Village on Gasparilla Island in Lee and Charlotte counties, on the Gulf coast has been the home to the wealthy for decades. The village was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009. A $5 toll bridge connects the island to Charlotte county's mainland.
Visitors and residents agree that the charming island is a bit of paradise just miles from Fort Myers and Port Charlotte. The island has no stoplights or franchise food outlets. Structures are limited to two stories in height. There was no road access until 1958 when the bridge was built.
From a small fishing village in 1870 to a booming commercial port in the early 20th century, Boca Grande is now a tourist destination and second home for hundreds of millionaires.
Many structures are now placed on the National Register of Historic Places including the rail station, lighthouse, Gasparilla Inn, and marina.
There are quaint shops, two grocery stores, two banks, a school, and hair salons. There is no gas station or chain stores. A bike path runs most of the length of the island and golf carts are the preferred method of transportation.
Visitors are free to use wire-less internet at the Community Center 24/7 or the Johann Fust Library. The Boca Grande Reference Room at the Center has automated book check out as part of the Lee County Library system.
The Gasparilla Inn & Club has had guests including Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, and the George H. W. Bush family, as well as many other notable celebrities.
At the southern tip is Gasparilla Island State Park, a popular beach location and home to one of six Florida lighthouses open to public.
Visitor Tip: Pick up an excellent free Visitor's Guide published by local newspaper the Boca Beacon for everything one should know about the island.

389C.I. V8 Engine w/ Tri-Power Induction - 4-Speed Manual Transmission w/ Hurst Shifter - Coker Classic Redline Tires - Power Steering - Factory Tachometer - Black Interior w/ Bucket Seats and Console - Black Convertible Top - Finished in Mayfair Maize
John DeLorean was one of the greatest men in American automotive history, and Pontiac was by far his greatest achievement. He took it from being an “old lady” brand to being one of the most well-known high-performance manufacturers of it's day, and the car that helped achieve that was the legendary G.T.O. It also launched one of the greatest advertising campaigns of all time with the famous “Tiger” ads. Those advertisements came coupled with similar efforts from U.S. Royal (Uniroyal) with their new “Tiger Paw” tires coming as standard equipment on G.T.O.s, and Esso giving out faux tiger tails along with their “Tiger in Your Tank” ads. The G.T.O. was an absolute hit and an instant classic. It would forever be a legend in the automotive world. This G.T.O. sports the 389C.I. V8 engine with Tri-Power induction matched to a 4-speed manual transmission with a Hurst shifter. It also sports power steering, factory tachometer, and beautiful original style steel wheels with chrome center and lip, wrapped in new Coker redline tires. The exterior is finished in Mayfair Maize, the color that was often seen sported in those same G.T.O. “Tiger” ads. Inside you'll find black vinyl bucket seats separated by a center console. The black convertible top is in very nice condition and matches the interior well. This is one G.T.O. you just can't go wrong with, and is sure to bring lots of happy years to it's next owner. ARCADIA FL | ANTIQUE SHOPPING | A TRIP BACK IN TIME
Arcadia is famous throughout Florida for its historic downtown antique district. Additionally, on the fourth Saturday of each month, vendors from surrounding locations take over the streets with even more wares and precious finds. Tucked between the shops, you'll have the chance to enjoy cafes, home cooking, a tea room and even an old fashion ice cream parlor, complete with homemade delicious flavors, sundaes and shakes. The Arcadia All-Florida Championship Rodeo is held in March, the Annual Watermelon Festival in May at the height of the harvesting season, and car shows, parades, and special events take place throughout the year. The City of Arcadia is the county seat for DeSoto County. It is centrally located between Orlando, Ft. Myers; Sarasota and Lake Okeechobee at the crossroads of US 17 and State Route 70 on the banks of the Peace River.
Arcadia and other areas of Florida have a rich history of cattle-raising, which means it also had – and continues to have – a large contingent of cowboys, known locally as Florida Crackers (for the sound made by their whips). Located just one hour east of Sarasota and Bradenton and one hour north of Fort Myers, Arcadia sits in the middle of Florida cowboy country and it is a place where the Old West meets the Old South. Rodeos and other competitions in Arcadia are common, and the town also hosts the De Soto County Fair in January and the Watermelon Festival in May. Arcadia is also known for its peaceful orange groves, streams built for canoeing and woods made for camping. arcadia-fl.gov
