The London International Wine and Spirits Fair.wmv
THE LONDON INTERNATIONAL WINE AND SPIRITS FAIR
Around 15,000 visitors from the UK and around the world use the Fair as a buying platform, to see what new wines are available and to research industry trends. It's perfect for: Importers; Wine merchants; Sommeliers; Off licence managers; Wholesalers; Restaurateurs; Producers; Pub / bar managers; Caterers.
LIWF and Distil Post Show Figures: The London International Wine Fair and Distil closed on 2011 with both exhibitors and visitors reporting a very successful and positive event. The seamless organisation of the three-day show by Brintex was praised yet again, as was the quality of the visitors attending the event.
There was a packed and varied timetable of interesting briefings, seminars, tastings and masterclasses, covering a wide range of industry topics; and the LIWF features, new and existing, proved to be as popular as ever.
The final visitor attendance figure stood at 13,754, a slight increase on the 2010 total of 13,684.
James Murray, Event Director commented: The feedback we have received so far about this year's show has been overwhelmingly positive. Despite tough economic trading conditions, UK agents were out in force alongside pavilions from all the major wine producing nations, as well as exciting emerging markets. Lebanon, India and Russia reported positive business leads and gave a feeling of optimism for the coming months. Whilst we're pleased that we have seen a slight increase in the visitor numbers this year, it is the quality of those visiting that is key to our exhibitors, and many have reported their most successful show for many years.
Matthew Dickinson, Commercial Director, Thierry's: Thierry's had a truly exciting trade fair this year in sponsoring the Access Zone. This allowed us to work on some really innovative communication projects with Vrazon and Brintex and we were delighted with both the number and quality of visitors, both real and virtual!
Giles Cooke MW, Marketing Director, Alliance Wine: As ever, there were very high quality attendees over the course of the three days. We have had plenty of very constructive meetings with lots of results in the bag.
Jeremy Rockett, Marketing Director, Gonzalez Byass: We have had some very high quality journalists, customers and other visitors. Every year opportunities come out of the Fair that we could never predict.
Su Birch, CEO, Wines of South Africa: Our new format has proved very successful and we have had a steady stream of people tasting, including media and buyers. Brintex did a great job as ever.

On of Joolz's favourite things to do in London is to visit all the old historic shops where lots of famous people throughout the ages have been customers.
In this London guide Joolz takes you on a tour of Berry Brothers & Rudd, Britain's Oldest wine shop. Take a trip back in time through the cellars whilst Francis, the manager of Berry Brothers, tells you about the famous customers past and present like Lord Byron and the royal family.
Berry Brothers started as a coffee shop in the 17th century but soon became a wine shop.
Today you can even do courses in wine tasting at Berry Brothers or hire the beautiful function room downstairs where Napoleon III to to host his private meeting when on exile from France.
They also used to house the Texas legation (like their embassy) when Texas was a republic.

An English Vineyard Tour, Wine Tasting and Lunch for Two with Red Letter Days
Are you partial to a tipple? Why not sign up to experience the process behind the art of wine-making on an English vineyard tour. Tours are available in Devon, Sussex, Suffolk, Essex, Surrey, West Yorkshire, West Sussex, Shropshire, Gloucestershire and Cambridgeshire. On the tour you will experience wine tasting of at least three different varieties of wine, a tasty two or three-course lunch or delicious buffet lunch and often a bottle of wine to take home (depending on vineyard tour location selected). The tour kicks off with an introduction to the estate and its history, then goes on to demonstrate the whole wine-making process, from planting to harvesting. Enjoy!
ENGLISH WINE TASTING WALK
I enjoy walking and I enjoy wine. Why not combine the two for a special day of english wine tasting and walking.
Kent has the perfect conditions and soil for growing grapes and producing wine. It is starting to produce some spectacular wines.
I visited Gusbourne vineyard in early June to explore the area with my walking group and to have a tour of the vineyard and wine tasting. It was the perfect day with the sun shining down on us.
The vineyard is very close to the picturesque village of Appledore. We walked for 5 miles taking in the royal military canal and finishing back at the vineyard. As we walked back to the visitor centre a table had been laid with wine glasses and little plates of delicious cheese, bread and charcuterie. Our guide took us through all the wines and then how the wine is made.

Tasting Room Wine Merchants in Bath (Somerset - South West England)
Tasting Room is first and foremost a wine & spirit merchant with a first floor wine-bar and cafe serving a great array of specialist wines and spirits along with a modern Mediterranean style menu to complement.
Customers can select from a broad, carefully selected wine-list chosen from the wines that are imported direct from the producers-an ever changing wine list with all wines available from their ground floor shop to take home. Wines are available to consume by the glass, carafe and bottle, as well as beer, cider, cocktails, pudding wines, port or just coffee.
An extensive whisky list offers whiskies from around the world, concentrating on Independent and unusual bottlings with a focus on Scotland, Japan and USA.
The Bar /café serves modern Mediterranean tapas style dishes, sharing boards, artisan cheese, as well as daily specials to complement the drinks using the best well sourced ingredients.
Their aim is to create a convivial atmosphere in which to serve high quality, characterful wines and imaginative food created from fresh, seasonal produce.
An important distinction of Tasting Room is the option to take wine home with you, hence our Wine Shop where nearly 300 wines are available to buy at highly competitive retail prices. You can also buy any of their wines online, with delivery available throughout mainland UK.
In the summer months make full use of their secluded terrace with a glass of wine, coffee or cocktail, or just unwind from a long day exploring Bath’s beautiful sights.
The Mount Vineyard (Perfect Day Trip From London)
The Mount Vineyard (Perfect Day Trip From London)// When you think of wine regions England is not the first place that comes to mine. The Mount Vineyard is located just outside of London in Shoreham making it one of the perfect day trips from London by train. If you are wondering what to do in London this weekend, then add this winery to unmissable day trips from London!
There are quite a few wineries in Kent and a great starting point to get your taste for English wine.
I highly recommend when visiting the Mount Vineyard that you book the wine tasting. One of the lovely staff members will walk you through English Wine Making in Kent, about English winemakers in the area and general history on how winemaking started.
This is another video in my London travel guide series so make sure you watch the playlist for more ideas!
