Die Eremitage in Bayreuth
Ein Spaziergang durch die Eremitage in Bayreuth im Oktober 2018.
Direkt bei der Eremitage gibt es einen großen, kostenlosen Parkplatz. Dort steht auch eine Info-Tafel über die wichtigsten Sehenswürdigkeiten im Schlosspark, der ebenfalls ohne Eintritt besichtigt werden kann.
Hauptattraktionen sind die Wasserspiele bei der Oberen und Unteren Grotte, die stündlich für ca. 7 Minuten in Betrieb sind. Die Wasserspiele in der Unteren Grotte beginnen immer 15 Minuten später.
Im Neuen Schloss (ehem. Orangerie) befinden sich ein Café sowie öffentl. Toiletten (gratis). Das Alte Schloss kann mit Führung besichtigt werden.
Weitere Sehenswürdigkeiten sind u. a. die Laubengänge, der Sonnentempel mit Quadriga, ein Ruinentheater und vieles mehr. Diverse Bänke laden zum Verweilen ein.

Königreich der Phantasie: Die Eremitage in Bayreuth
Markgräfin Wilhelmine von Bayreuth, die Schwester des Alten Fritzen, des Königs Friedrich II. von Preußen, schuf mit der heute weltweit berühmten Eremitage für sich, ihren Gemahl und den Hofstaat ein einzigartiges Refugium für ihre Phantasie. Und sie entwarf damit zugleich ein Idealbild ihres Regiments. Unter der goldenen Quadriga des Sonnengottes Apoll versammelte sie symbolhaft die Elemente ihres traumbildartigen Kosmos: Wasserspiele und Skulpturen, Insignien von Macht und Wohlstand, aber auch der Liebe zur Kunst. All dies sollte auf den Landesherrn abstrahlen - wurde aber gleichermaßen von ihm als Legitimation seiner Herrschaft in Anspruch genommen.
Aufgeklärt, aber noch immer absolutistisch, sah sich das Herrscherpaar als Protagonisten eines neuen Zeitalters, in dem Esprit und Überfluß, aber auch Disziplin und Zurückhaltung das allgemeine Lebensgefühl prägen sollten. Ein Utopia, das zugleich sie selbst und - stellvertretend für den Rest der Welt - den überschaubaren Hofstaat beglückte, das aber auch ein damals durchaus fortschrittliches Staatsverständnis abbildete.
Die Musik ist eine Komposition der Markgräfin selbst, die nicht nur architektonische Entwürfe zu inspirieren wußte, sondern auch eine hervorragende Cembalistin war.
Nach Ideen der Markgräfin entstand ebenfalls das inzwischen zum Weltkulturerbe erhobene Markgräfliche Opernhaus und das Neue Schloss Bayreuth.

A soft late-Baroque park in gentle surroundings. Hilltop gardens have a special appeal in summer, because of their views and breezes. The court used to retreat here from Bayreuth and, regarding it as a hermitage, dressed in monk's habits and slept in comfortable cells. Frederick the Great's sister, Wilhelmine, was given the estate in 1735 and, in her words, made it 'one of the loveliest places in Germany'. She thought of it as her Tusculum, after Cicero's villa. There are parterres, a fine semi-circular orangery, an extravagant fountain, an outdoor theatre in the form of a Roman ruin, a cascade and a heavily rusticated grotto with a group of nymphs. On a busy day it is not difficult to recall the idealistic frivolity of a South German court in the eighteenth century. A serpentine park was added in the nineteenth century, as was done on many German estates, to create a grand transition from 'art to nature'. Baroque geometry everywhere gives way to the serpentine geometry of woods and fields. Since the garden is on a hilltop, there are many framed landscape views with foreground, middleground and background.

*Hermitage (in English) is the Old Palace and park of Bayreuth which was created in 1715 by Margrave Georg Wilhelm. After 15 years, the nephew of Margrave presented the Hermitage to his wife, Wilhelmine.

This is my promotional video for the city of Bayreuth, Germany. I teamed up with Bayreuth tourismus to create a visual symphony of all the unique aspects of Bayreuth Germany.
Filming took place in the winter and summer seasons where I followed a local to the Bayreuth opernhaus, Bayreuth university, and even the Fabrik Bayreuth nightclub.
Bayreuth is a city heavily influenced on opera and the famous composer, Richard Wagner. I wanted to create a video that visually highlighted all the city attractions but made you feel like you were watching it inside an opera house.
My Bayreuth local took me to Markgräfliches Opernhaus (UNESCO Welterbe), Universität Bayreuth, Eremitage, the Richard Wagner Museum, Bayreuther Winterdorf, Festspielhaus, the historic city center on Maxstraße where we ate bratwürste, the Rathaus, we ate at Liebesbier, Dubliner, partied all night inside of the Fabrik Bayreuth nightclub, and finished the tour at the Bayreuth Volksfest.

sehen kann und im Anschluss ging ich in den
Eremitenhof den es schon 200 Jahre gibt am
Stammtisch und habe z.B. besprochen:
- Warum hat auf unserem Sonnentempel die Quadriga
eine männliche Darstellung nicht die weibliche
wie am Brandenburger Tor
- Dazu habe ich dort vorgehaltene Literatur
gewälzt und Postkarten von 1910 gesehen mit dem
Sonnentempel - zu welcher Zeit keine Quadriga zu
sehen ist.

Bei einer Führung durch das alte Schloss des Markgrafen Georg Wilhelm der dort als Eremiten lebte, erwartet die Besucher eine interessante Geschichte rund um die Schlossanlage aus dem 18. Jahrhundert mit deren Bau im Jahre 1715 begonnen wurde. Die Teilnahme an der Führung durch das alte Schloss ist für Besucher des Hofgarten unbedingt empfehlenswert.

Bayreuth is a sizeable town in northern Bavaria, Germany, on the Red Main river in a valley between the Franconian Jura and the Fichtelgebirge Mountains. The town's roots date back to 1194.
The festival city of Bayreuth in Upper Franconia (Oberfranken) is relatively quiet most of the year until the Richard Wagner Festival settles in for 30 days every summer. Bayreuth features a wealth of impressive baroque and rococo architecture, as well as freshly-brewed Franconian beer in the local Biergartens. Although the city remains fairly tame compared to the much larger cities in Germany, the presence of almost 10,000 students at the University of Bayreuth means an active nightlife is not difficult to find.

Festival Theater (Festspielhaus), Festspielhügel Built in 1872, this opera house still ranks among the best in the world in design and acoustics. Home to the Richard Wagner Festival every summer. Just north of the main train station, take bus 5 to Am Festspielhaus. The grounds are crowded, tours seldom, and tickets rare during the annual Richard Wagner Festival in late July-August each year. 5 €
Garden Museum Fantaisie Palace and Park (Schloss and Park Fantaisie) The 18th century palace designed by the daughter of Margrave Friedrich and Margravine Wilhelmine, features Germany's first garden design museum. Located 5 km west of Bayreuth, take bus 8231, 8433, 8446, or 8449 towards Donndorf to stop Fantaisie. 3 €.
Hermitage/Old Palace (Eremitage/Altes Schloss) The old palace of Margrave Georg Wilhelm on the outskirts of town, the palace was expanded and the gardens created by Wilhelmine as a summer residence. The ornate fountains begin their waterworks on the hour from 10AM to 5PM. Guided tours are available. The Eremitage is approximately 6 km outside Bayreuth, take bus 2 or 3 to Eremitage. 2.50 €.
Margravial Opera House (Markgräfliches Opernhaus) The baroque opera house, commissioned by Margravine Wilhelmine and designed by famous Giuseppe Galli Bibiena and son Carlo from Italy, was completed in 1748 and remained Germany's largest opera house until 1871. This ornate opera house partially drew Richard Wagner's attention to Bayreuth. 5 €.
New Palace (Neues Schloss) The new residence of the Margrave Friedrich and his wife Wilhelmine after their old residence burnt down. It was designed and built by the French builder Joseph Saint-Pierre, and completed in 1754. The entrance fee includes entrance to the two museums inside: The Museum Margravine Wilhelmine's Bayreuth and the museum Bayreuth Faience - Rummel Collection, featuring porcelain manufactured in Bayreuth in the 18th century. Rooms of interest include the Garden Rooms, Cedar Room, Old Music Room, and the Cabinet of Fragmented Mirrors (designed by Wilhelmine herself). 5 €.
Spitalkirche (Spitalkirche), (At the west end of the main market street Maximilianstrasse).
Stadtkirche (Stadtkirche). The Stadtkirche is since 2006 closed and undergoing renovations.
For a town of its size, Bayreuth is rich in museums; over two dozen can be found in and around the city. Noteworthy among the many are the Richard Wagner Museum and Franz-Liszt-Museum, documenting the lives of these prominent German and Hungarian composers, the Guinness Book of World Records recognized Maisel's Brewery and Cooper's Museum, as well as the museums located in the New Palace: Bayreuther Faiences - The Rummel Collection, The State Galleries and Margravine Wilhelmine's Bayreuth. Every fall the museums offer a Bayreuth Museum Night (Bayreuther Museumsnacht). On this night, a single ticket allows entry to every museum in the city from 8PM until 2AM.
