PATAGONIA WILDLIFE: Spotting Penguins + Sea Lions on Valdes Peninsula | Chubut, Argentina
Peninsula Valdes was our first introduction to Patagonia and what a way to begin! Prior to visiting Patagonia, we envisioned landscapes dominated by snow-capped mountains, verdant forests and glacial lakes, and while that may be true if you travel along the Andes, there is so much more to Patagonia than that! Peninsula Valdes introduced us to the diversity that can be found within Patagonia by showing us the complete opposite of what I expected; I’m talking about arid steppes, salt lakes and pebbly shores dotted with all sorts of marine wildlife! Who knew? In this video, we spot elephant seals and sea lions basking in the sunshine along the beach, we visit the biggest Magellanic penguin colony in the world, and we have lunch at Estancia San Lorenzo where we sample Patagonian lamb. We hope you'll join us for this tour around Peninsula Valdes with Argentina Vision (

PATAGONIA WILDLIFE - Spotting Penguins and Sea Lions in Peninsula Valdes | Chubut, Argentina:
Hey guys! We are Samuel and Audrey, a travel vlogging couple from Canada. In this travel channel we share our travel and food vlogs while touring the world.
We had the privilege of traveling around Argentina for nearly 3 months from January- April 2019 on a trip covering a large section of the country.
We kicked things off with several days in Buenos Aires where we were joined by Audrey's parents eating and sightseeing around some of our favourite neighbourhoods in the city. We then flew from Buenos Aires to Cordoba where we spent a couple of weeks in the Sierras of Cordoba visiting both La Cumbrecita and Villa General Belgrano with highlights including hiking and delicious German and Swiss cuisine.
From Cordoba, we then travelled a considerable distance on an overnight bus to Mar Del Plata just in time for a special food festival called Feria Masticar featuring the best of Argentine food and wine. We spent several days enjoying beaches and seafood before heading south to Patagonia to visit the province of Chubut.
While on the Atlantic side of Chubut we visited Puerto Madryn, Peninsula Valdes, Trelew, Gaiman and Dolavon. To summarize our time in this area, we had incredibly close encounters with wildlife including penguins, sea lions and guanacos while also experiencing Welsh culture in Argentina.
Our time in Patagonia continued as we headed from east to west trading more barren landscapes for thick forests, impressive mountains and magnificent lakes. We spent significant time in both Esquel and El Bolson with day trips to visit Trevelin, Parque Nacional Los Alerces, Cholila and Lago Puelo. Highlights included sailing, hiking, riding vintage trains and partaking in the national asado festival.
We finished visiting Patagonia with time spent in Villa La Angostura, San Martin De Los Andes and Bariloche where we enjoyed more stunning scenery and hiking. On our way back to Buenos Aires, we took the Tren Patagonia to Las Grutas before meeting up with Audrey's dad again.
To finish off our trip in Argentina, we spent more time in the capital and later Mendoza where we got to experience wine tourism to its fullest extent. Overall, we had an amazing time travelling around Argentina having only scratched the surface of this vast and diverse country.
Overall our Argentina travel series explores cities, small towns that are off-the-beaten-path, and scenic attractions with a strong emphasis on Argentina cuisine and local culture.

Spotting SEA LIONS in Peninsula Valdes on a Boat Tour | Chubut, Argentina
For our last day on the Valdes Peninsula, we joined an excursion to visit Caleta Valdes and Punta Delgada, two destinations which are said to be great for wildlife spotting! First up, we kicked off the day with a boat tour to the loberia, which is a rocky outcrop where you can see sea lions.
Because we visited in February, there were lots of newborn pups playing and clumsily climbing around the larger sea lions; it was so fun to just sit back and watch them be. We also saw the alpha male strutting on his flippers, body arched upwards, observing his harem and eventually approaching a female. It was quite the scene and camera shutters were going off like crazy!
From there, we continued to Caleta Valdes, which is often referred to as a 'geographic accident'; it’s basically a long and narrow body of water that’s been naturally closed off by a strip of land, with only a small opening connecting it to the sea. We got to see Magellanic penguins here, who had built their nests on a rather steep hill!
We then continued to Punta Delgada Lightouse, a former post office and military building turned sheep farm, countryside hotel and restaurant. We had some empanadas and lamb stew for lunch (all very tasty!), before continuing on to a beach location where we watched as elephant seals made their way back to sea.
This was our final tour with Argentina Vision ( and then it was back to Puerto Madryn!

This strip of land is composed of boulder, dirt and sand and sea encloses a portion connected through a small mouth with the Argentine Sea. Inside there are two groups of islands with own geomorphological features (some of them are First, Second and Gaviota).
