The Evergreen Memorial Cemetery founded in the early 1820's, is a historic cemetery nestled in the heart of Bloomington, IL. The 87 acre cemetery begins with a simple entrance, winding avenues, towering trees and an elaborate mausoleum. It is a wonderful example of preservation, culture and tradition in Central Illinois.

Additionally, It will provide information about cemetery architecture, monument types and materials, and common symbolism that can be found throughout this over 150 year old historic cemetery. This video is also to be used for training purposes for the McLean County Museum of History's annual outdoor theatrical event The Evergreen Cemetery Walk, which is held the first two weekends in October.

The man who filmed this is no longer living. A friend of mine gave me this video. They found the camera on the floor in this abandoned attic in a house/apartment somewhere in Central Illinois, U.S.
The man was filming at night in the building. He had no company and no one knows how he accessed the building. He was talking about a local ghost story in a town near Bloomington, IL. The legend is of a man named A.W. Schroen who had been involved in bootlegging during prohibition. A.W. Schroen was captured by a local mob for swindling them out of $58 worth of bootlegged bourbon. The mob took him to the attic(of the same building where in March of 2015 the cameraman of this video went missing), a place in which he was beaten, then, brutally decapitated and partially dismembered. His body was discovered by a tenant at the time who noticed an odd staining on her second floor ceiling. Police identified the body as Schroen's and a funeral service was held at Evergreen Cemetery February 18th 1932. The story surrounding his death has been told by many local parapsychologists but the building in which haunting supposedly occurred has been closed to the public since 1991. The cameraman in this video took what may be the only existing evidence of this apparition. Local Illinois Sheriffs have posted a missing person's report on the cameraman(whose name cannot be shared by his family's request). The video cuts out after the apparition is spotted and we hear what sounds like a struggle after the cameraman's light went out. Was he struggling with the possible ghost of the local Illinois mob who killed A.W. Schroen nearly 83-years before? You decide.

Action Bloomington IL Corruption, Failure to Enforce SFIA Despite Hard Evidence
This video is asking our State officials as to why they are not enforcing the laws, despite official complaints, documented hard evidence, and the local police, local health department, and the State of Illinois have basically conspired not to enforce the law, not to investigate the evidence, not to take action, and let the same violations continue to protect a handful of bar owners. And they are still continuing and no one will enforce the law. Which makes us taxpayers very angry as we are paying for law enforcement we are not getting. While the violators are shielded. How in your face does Illinois corruption have to be, before something get done? Look at these videos, alleged bar employees, bar patrons, openly violating the Smoke Free Illinois Act, in front of the Bloomington Police, and the law has not been enforced in front of this venue for over six years, despite official complaints, video evidence, and the State still allows them to operate as if nothing ever has happened. Its just blatant corruption, protecting someone's friends. See for yourself. How can you trust possibly trust your local officials?

The Tilbury Flash, a racer plane built in Bloomington in the 1930s, was recovered in 1975 and restored by the Bloomington (IL) EAA Chapter. It is now on display at the McLean County Museum of History in Bloomington.
The plane set a world speed record for smallest class of planes and it flew in and won aircraft racing competitions, largely ones sponsored by governments interested in the military potential for small, highly maneuverable aircraft.
Irene Delroy (Josephine Sanders) Collection
This video exhibits the Irene Delroy collection in the archives of the McLean County Museum of History in Bloomington Illinois.
Irene Delroy bio:
Josephine Lucille Sanders was born July 21, 1900 in Bloomington to parents Royal Woodsen Sanders and Della Sanders (nee Soverns). Her parents were married Sept 2, 1897 and Josephine was their first child.
Josephine had one brother, named Lindley Soverns Sanders, who was born Oct 31, 1902. During these early years of her childhood her father was a teacher of mathematics, civics, and commercial law at Bloomington High School and was also in charge of the girls' basketball team. Sometime between 1902 and 1908 the family moved to Minneapolis, MN.
Lindley died in Minneapolis, MN at noon on May 31, 1909 of scarlet fever. His body was returned to Bloomington, IL to be buried at the family plot in Evergreen Cemetery.
Irene studied ballet in Chicago in her late teens, and secured a spot in the Chicago Opera Ballet in 1919. Although her parents were initially reluctant to let her seek a career in show business, her success with the Chicago Opera convinced them otherwise. Around this time Josephine Sanders took her stage name Irene Delroy. The Delroy was a combination of her parents' names, Della and Royal. During her career Royal Sanders lived in Peoria, IL, and Della Sanders traveled with Irene.
Until 1930, Irene starred consistently in follies, plays and musicals, including Greenwich Village Follies, Ziegfeld Follies, Hitchy Koo, Follow Thru and Here's Howe!. She then signed a contract with Warner Bros. She made four movies with them, of which the best promoted was Divorce Among Friends, until 1931, when she decided to marry William L. Austin, Jr., a business man. Bill Austin did not want her to continue her career, despite the fact that her contract with Warner Bros was good for another four years, so they signed a prenuptial agreement in which Irene Delroy would receive a large amount of stock in Austin's company in exchange for canceling her contract. Irene Delroy became known as either Mrs. William Austin Jr. or Irene Delroy Austin.
The marriage was unsuccessful, and after a separation agreement in 1935, Irene moved to Reno to obtain a divorce in 1937. Bill Austin remarried, and died in 1963. Irene Delroy became known as either Irene Delroy when performing or Mrs. J. Sanders Austin.
After the separation Irene went back to work in show business, and played in a 1935 production of Anything Goes with Victor Moore and also put her beautiful voice to use in radio productions. During the war she was a volunteer nurse's aide at Memorial Hospital, New York. Josephine was interested in genealogy and was a. member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She remarried in November 1972 to Dr. Girard F. Oberrender, a throat specialist. She then became known as Mrs. Josephine Oberrender. She died June 14, 1985 in Ithaca, NY.
The Career of Irene Delroy took Josephine Sanders all over the country; many places that people from Central Illinois only dreamed of visiting. The story of Josephine Sanders is an interesting one to say the least. While the places that her career took her and the people she met along the way are something of a fairytale for a girl from the Midwest, it was not without certain consequences. The profound career of Josephine Sanders put an immense amount of stress on her family, particularly the marriage of her parents Royal and Della. With Royal and Della being separated for long periods of time, it was difficult for them to cooperate in raising their daughter, and they both experienced periods of depression. Royal spent much of his time traveling around Illinois to find as much business as he could, so as to have enough money to support himself and also send money East to support Della and Josephine. Royal had strict guidelines on how he felt money should be spent and who Josephine should be surrounding herself with. Much of the conflict between Royal and Della is due to the people Josephine surrounded herself with and her spending habits. Unfortunately, the marriage of Royal and Della would be filled with disagreements and feelings of distrust until Della's death on February 5, 1933.
The career of Josephine Sanders would bring her fame and fortune, but would bring her many misfortunes as well. During her time in show business she would see the destruction of her parents' marriage, she would struggle with the pressures of being in the spotlight, she would be stalked, and would enter into a marriage that would end in divorce and effectively end her career. When looking back on the career of Josephine Sanders one must not focus completely on the fame that she found, but also consider the effect her fame had on her and her family. It is truly a story of a hometown girl who made it big, but is also a tragic story of a family torn apart by the fame and fortune acquired while in the spotlight.

On 2/21/2010 at approximately 1130 hours, units from the southside were dispatched to a working house fire on Virginia Ave in Bloomington, MD in station 36's 1st due. Engine 361 was the first to arrive on the scene and report a working fire in the residence. D/C Bosley had the Virginia Ave Command. Engine Tanker 22 responded with 7 volunteers and Chief 22 Dayton. Units dispatched on the call were Engine Company 36, 22, 19, Truck 24 and EMS 50. Engine 361 upgraded to a working alarm bringing Engine 221, Engine 24, Air 3, Brush 19 and ER 23 transferred to Station 36. When Engine 361 arrived, they pulled an 1 3/4 attack line to Side A of the single story single family dwelling. Engine 361 had the own hydrant from North Branch Ave. Engine Tanker 22 was advised to pick up the Hydrant on Hampshire Ave and lay in from a secondary water source. Engine Tanker laid approximately 1000' of 5 supply into the fire. The crew off of the Engine Tanker were assigned to pull a back up line. The crew pulled an 1 3/4 attack line to Side A. The crew then made entry on side A to the seat of the fire. The crew made a quick knock on the bedroom fire with some extension into the hallway and two additional bedrooms. Truck 24 ladder the building and cut a ventilation hole on the roof. Engine 221 responded with 5 volunteers and Safety Officer Karalewitz. Crews were on the scene for an extensive overhaul operation before returning to service. Multiple crew members on the Engine Tanker had helmet cameras.

This film has been restored and conserved through a grant from the National Film Preservation Foundation. The running time of the full film is 18min. This film is part of the Circus and Allied Arts Collection at Illinois State University's, Special Collections, Milner Library.
Bloomington IL Government Aback More Kangaroo Law Enforcement
More video footage of kangaroo law enforcement taxpayers are getting in the downtown bar district. Here we see cars and trucks parked in the Party Bus Tow Zone being towed and ticketed as they are supposed to when people park during enforcement times. But, then we see what appears to be patrons of a certain bar, basically being allowed to park an additional 40 minutes without being towed, as police know they are illegally parked but do not tow them, like they do everyone else. Then we see more socializing of police with the bar's personnel, and ignoring bar patrons in alleged open violation of the Smoke-Free Illinois Act right in front of them while they socialize with the violator. So many reports to the State of Illinois go uninvestigated, no fines, to tickets, despite hard video evidence. Its just outright ignored. A complete corrupt farce, as its managed locally, which means its never dealt with, or ever investigated, or ever punished. There are so many videos of not only alleged bar employee's and bar patron's allegedly violating the SFIA on this bar's property, all ignored, despite hard evidence, and so many videos of the law being broken right in front of the police, its scandalous. its corrupt, and no one will do anything about it, and its been going on for years.
