Review of Singapore Airlines Exit Row Seat Airbus A350 Singapore Airlines SQ368 SG to Milan Review
Today I fly on Singapore Airlines, Airbus A350, from Singapore to Milan Malpensa. For a grand total of USD 90, I managed to snag a preferred seat on this flight in the Economy cabin. What are preferred seats? Other names include Exit Row seats, Bulkhead Row seats etc. Once upon a time, passengers could request for such seats for free. These days, however, passengers have to pay an additional fee. Why are these seats preferred? Simple reason - more legroom. SInce this was a red-eye 12.5 hour flight, I decided to give it a try. I got seat 47J.
Verdict? It depends.
The Pros.
No doubt that the legroom was plentiful. I could stretch my entire leg horizontally, with no issues. This allowed me to have a very good sleep. But take note the disadvantages below.
The Cons
1. Preferred seats are right next to the toilets. Hence, this place could get very busy indeed, especially during peak hours for toilet use (e.g. after meals, before landing).
2. At 47J, you will hear a 'ding', 'ding', 'ding' (9:26), and a blue light coming on. What was that all about? Turns out that whenever a passenger presses the call button for a flight attendant, the ding sound will happen, and a small blue light will be activated. (9:26). The ding beeper and blue light is located right above the aircraft door, near 47J. You can imagine the 'ding', 'ding', 'ding' throughout the night. Fortunately, they gave me ear plugs, and I managed to sleep through. I think this wasn't an issue for 47B and 47C (i.e. the preferred seats at the other aisle), although I'm not sure.
3. Preferred seats have no space to put your backpack under your seat. Everything must go overhead.
4. The inflight entertainment screen can only be deployed when the aircraft is in the air. So you don’t have access to movies when the plane is on the ground, during take off, and during landing. Other passengers in normal seats have access to the IFE throughout.
Overall? Given that I had a good sleep (which was very important to me), the USD90 was worth the money. However, if I flew again, I would try 47A, 47B or 47C next time. (i.e the other side of the aircraft)
Seats-aside, the rest of the flight was good. We were served supper shortly after takeoff from Singapore Changi. I chose the Beef with Noodles option. I found the beef a bit tough, but it didn't bother me too much as I wasn't hungry. We were given a Magnum mini as dessert - that was nice. I slept a lot and woke up about 3 hours before landing. Breakfast was ok. I chose the noodles again. Everything went like clockwork and we landed in Milan safely.
Have a Blessed Christmas and a wonderful 2018.
Singapore Airlines - a great way to fly.

Civil Service Must Work Harder on the Exit Plan
Whitehall mandarins are being warned that the government will not accept excuses for lack of Brexit preparations.
The UK Civil Service has been told to accelerate preparations across the board for Brexit - including a plan for leaving the EU with no deal.
The government will also be compiling monthly delivery progress reports to track and ensure speedy progress.
Even though some thought that the chances of a no-deal scenario had significantly reduced, the pressure is still on to ensure the UK has a plan to deal with it.

Graceful Exit - Homily by Archbishop William Goh (14 Aug 2019)
A time will come when leaders need to make an exit because they are too old and weak to lead or because they have made some wrong judgements. How many of us have the magnanimity of Moses who was ready to let go of his power and authority? But it is not enough to step down from our offices. We must do so graciously by preparing and giving the younger generation the opportunity to learn, make mistakes and find their own ways of making things work. How many of us have the graciousness of Moses to pass on our wisdom, our experience and our knowledge to the next generation of leaders?

How to Pick a Great Airline Seat
Watch more Flying Tips videos:
Don't get stuck in a middle seat near a bathroom on your next flight. With a little time and effort, you can be sitting pretty.
Step 1: Figure out your priorities
There is no single best seat on an airplane — all have their pros and cons — so decide what's important to you. Legroom? Peace and quiet? A quick exit? A smooth ride?
Step 2: Check out seats
Don't assume anything about a seat without checking it out. Some bulkhead seats don't offer extra legroom, some window seats are between windows and therefore offer little view, and many exit seats, while providing more legroom, are narrower than other seats.
Tip
Find out what kind of plane you'll be on and then visit seatexpert.com: or seatguru.com: Click on any seat to see its pros and cons.
Step 3: Buy a better seat
Pay a small fee to ensure you get a seat with the most legroom. Many airlines now identify their best seats on their websites and charge for them accordingly.
Step 4: Don't forget about reclining
Take reclining into account. If you like to sit back, avoid the last rows in any section. If you hate people leaning into your lap, try to snare an exit seat; the seats in front of those rows usually don't recline.
Tip
Exit row seats are often not assigned until check-in. To snag one, get to the airport early.
Step 5: Consider the pitch
Consider the pitch of the seat, which is the distance between your seat and the one in front of you. You'll find this information on airline seat websites.
Step 6: Take turbulence into account
Take turbulence into account. If you're a white-knuckle flyer, sit over the front of the wing; that's where you're least likely to feel turbulence. Avoid the back, where you'll feel every bump.
Step 7: Consider the noise
If you need peace and quiet, avoid sitting in the back, where the engines are the loudest. And steer clear of the bulkhead, where families with babies are usually seated.
Step 8: Book early
When you buy your ticket, be sure to book your specific seat, either online or by calling the airline directly.
Tip
Increase your odds of sitting beside an empty middle seat by requesting a back row where either the aisle or window seat is already booked. The middle seats in back rows fill up last.
Step 9: Check back the day before
Check back 24 hours before your flight; this is when prime seating often is released. Plus, airlines occasionally switch planes, possibly turning your chosen seat into an undesirable one!
Step 10: Join a good-seat program
If you're a frequent flyer, consider joining an airline program that guarantees a good seat for an annual fee.
Did You Know?
The average airline seat in coach is just 17.2 inches wide.

No exit: China locks down second city as it steps up virus battle
Huanggang has become the second Chinese city to go into lockdown following the closure of Wuhan, as authorities step up efforts to halt the spread of a new coronavirus that originated in the latter in December and has now killed 17 people and infected 571.
Without a special reason, city residents should not leave Wuhan, the central city's special command centre to combat the virus said on Thursday, according to state media.
Hours later, state media in neighbouring Huanggang, a city of some six million people, said it was imposing a similar lockdown.
The moves are meant to effectively cut off the virus spread, resolutely curb the outbreak and guarantee the people's health and safety, the notice said, according to the official Xinhua news agency.
Stations and the airport in Wuhan were closed from 10am (02:00 GMT) with buses, the metro system, ferries and long-distance shuttle buses also suspended in the city. All public gatherings were cancelled in the city of 11 million residents.

Investing 101 | OFW Exit Plan | OFW Invessting | OFW Investment | Maranao Financial Planning | Maranao
Good day, I am a Maranao reluctant video blogger, I love creating videos, I do not video blog, my kids do. I have a secret blog, it’s hidden somewhere. I am an old soul, I write things that I want to. :)
This video is our dinner date with my friends where we talked about anything under the sun, including investing. :)
I also included here the tool that I am using in managing our finances as an OFW parent. My husband and I are both OFW. During the first phase of our marriage, si husband ang nagtake care sa lahat, as in he used to do everything including managing our finances etc while I used to careless, whatever! I was at my early 20s that time.
Then I gave birth to my daughters…things changed. Then I started to manage our finances, do this and that... all those usual things that typical moms do.
At the beginning, I used to just write in a notebook, I write everything, forecast our expenses for the upcoming month, write our expenses and many things. Pinagtatyagaan ko po isulat then sinishare ko sa husband ko. He is like my commentator or final approver etc.
So, I started to create our Goal, I call it also an Exit Plan, Retirement plan whatever you call it etc, nilagay ko yong lahat ng items which I think are important.
As an OFW, dapat kailangan my fall back tayo, something that we can turn into when we go back home especially if you have kids. I strongly believe with the thing called “destiny”, if something mean to happen, it will happen. But I also believe that we should always do our part, not just leaving everything to God without doing anything. Do what you need to do and leave everything to HIM. If you have done everything and still they didn’t work, then accept it. What to do yaani! :)
This tool which I included here can also be used by any moms, single employee, or kahit student pa lang. You can just modify it according to what you can do for now. But do not be so hard to yourself, enjoy your life with your kids, send them to some extra activities and spend your earnings moderately.
Finally, save, save, save, invest wisely, take a calculated risk and ENJOY PLANNING!!!
P.S: You might read something funny here and if you do, keep it with yourself. Hahaha…. If you wish to have soft copy of this tool let me know, I can send it to you (This is edited anyway or just a template). And also, if you wish to know how do we manage our tiny apartment back in Pinas, how we pay taxes and many others I can also share it with you.
