Noel LeVasseur in Bourbonnais Illinois.wmv
The Kickapoo, Illini, Iroquois, Mascouten and Potawatomi Indians were inhabitants of the land before Francois Bourbonnais, Sr. came in 1832. Noel LeVasseur, a French Canadian trader, found Francois Bourbonnais living in what would be known as Bourbonnais Grove. LeVasseur bought a tract of land from Me-she-ke-ten-o. He brought his Indian wife Watch-e-kee (Watseka) and he established a trading post in what would later be known as the village of Bourbonnais. LeVasseur began recruiting French Canadians from Quebec in the 1830's and 1840's and forever impacted the Kankakee County area. Noel LeVasseur who arrived in 1832 is credited as being the first permanent settler in Bourbonnais Grove.

Bourbonnais, IL : Red Light Runner and Broken Streetlight.
Right as I finished delivering papers, I stumbled upon this wreck down the street from me. So here's the story:
The green car ran the red light and was struck by the gold car which lost it's front bumper, grill, and left headlight assembly. It was a Kia. Once it did that, the car slide across the intersection and clipped the Lincoln Navigator as they were turning onto Meadows Road North. Scary situation, considering how bad it could have been! The tow truck driver failed, as he knocked over one of Bourbonnais's new (installed 2009?) onto the neighbor's fence. Took down a few branches along the way. It's hard to hear, but in the video, the driver of the Kia car and Navigator recall the event.
