GALWAY SHOP STREET AND EYRE SQUARE
Originally surrounded with a wooden fence ,it was enclosed with iron railings in the late 1700s. These were removed in the 1960s,and subsequently re-erected around St.Nicholas'collegiate church .In 1965,the square was officially renamed Kennedy Memorial Park in honoure of US President John F.Kennedy,who visited Galway city shotly before his assassination in 1963.Eyre Square centre located in the heart of Galway ,Eyre square centre has been described as Ireland most modern and yet historic shopping centre.The centre is Galway liveliest and attractive meeting place incorporating over 60 national and international shopping outlets.

Galway is a harbour city in western Ireland. Popular with students and tourists it is a cultural place where Irish music, song and dance traditions are celebrated.
We start our walk at the 18th-century Eyre Square in front of the Pádraic Ó Conaire statue for the Irish writer. We walk into the shopping area and through the Eyre Square Centre Mall which has some part of the old city wall inside.
The Hall of the Red Earl is also on our list - another 13th-century archaeological site. Walking further we enjoy the streets of Galway with many stone-clad cafes, pubs and old churches.
Some other part of the city across the River Corrib is a bit quieter. We continue our round back to the Shop Street and High Street until the weather starts to get rainy and windy. Some Irish weather experience just before can see one more sight - the Spanish Arc, where we end this walk.

Galway City walking tour in Galway Ireland. Galway is a larger town than most expect and parking can be difficult. Once you get into the city center to do your Galway walking tour you'll be met with cute shops and lots of tourists taking pictures of the Irish city.
You probably don't need more than 72 hours in Galway City as there isn't that much to do other than walk around and eat or shop. The best way to do it is to see Galway on foot because traffic is terrible in the city.
