Wright's Falling Water, Mills Run, PA 11/14/10
First visit - Nov 14, 2010 for in-depth tour. $65 for over 2 hours, interior photos allowed only for personal use. I drove from Pittsburgh and it took at an hour and half and it was very cold, about 50 degrees.
I would love to come back to Falling water for Summer twilight when they have a tour at night, only available the last week of summer.
Amazing views, informative tour guide, a dream and bucket list for me. Well worth the travel to visit.

Fallingwater is one and a half hours outside of Pittsburgh in rural Western Pennsylvania. On the road to Fallingwater, we pass by corn fields, barns, and cows until we reach the Fallingwater estate, which appears like a mirage through a forest of trees.
The house was built in modern architecture style atop a waterfall with an architecturally daring cantilever design that allows the home to integrate into the nature. Even in today's standards it would be considered a unique stunning home, but it was built in the late 30s.
Fallingwater was built for Edgar Kaufmann, a successful department store businessman. The property was used as the family's weekend residence, and includes multiple bedrooms, balconies, and terraces. We take a one hour tour of the home and the interior.

Fallingwater 2019
On July 7, 2019, the UNESCO World Heritage Committee inscribed The 20th-Century Architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright to the UNESCO World Heritage List. The inscription includes Fallingwater and seven other major works designed by Wright. This series of Wright-designed buildings represents the first modern architecture designation in the United States.

The Shawnee State University Virtual Design Lab is located in Second Life at The size of more than four football fields, it houses hundreds of highly interactive art and design basics exhibits for our students. The more than 250 art works on the wall are all scripted to connect to internet info on the artist. In addition, there are buttons below most of the works that lead to videos by the artist or designer. The Frank Lloyd Wright exhibit has a teleport pad that takes your avatar to a full scale virtual Fallingwater at that you can explore inside and out. Immersive experiences map quite differently to memory (at more sites) so that the experience is not unlike visiting the site in terms of understanding the complex structure. Enjoy.
The Battle of the Clouds, Mill Run, Pennsylvania
On July 28, 1874, near a valley town called Mill Run, western Pennsylvania something occurred that until this day remains a mystery.
Hundreds of people watched the collision of two huge clouds moving in opposite directions. One of the clouds approached from southwest and the other from northeast.
This behavior is strange and not according to the known laws of physics.
Clouds move because the wind pushes them and they must therefore follow one direction. Yet, in this case these two clouds were heading straight at each other.
Both clouds were huge, black and tinged with a reddish hue. Scared people reported it seemed as if the clouds were engaged in a battle. The clouds were casting intense flashes of light at each other and when they finally collided and merged, people were convinced this was the end of the world, the doomsday.
The heavens exploded with incredible and terrifying lights and the ground shook. Then came the rain. The heaviest downpour anyone could remember. The valley was flooded within just a few minutes. Houses, bridges, and roads were destroyed. About 150 people died and a countless number of cattle.

The real Fallingwater house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright is in Mill Run, Pennsylvania. It's considered the “best all-time work of American architecture” by the American Institute of Architects. The house was completed in 1938 and is now open for public tours.

Fallingwater
Fallingwater or Kaufmann Residence is a house designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright in 1935 in rural southwestern Pennsylvania, 43 miles (69 km) southeast of Pittsburgh.[4] The home was built partly over a waterfall on Bear Run in the Mill Run section of Stewart Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, in the Laurel Highlands of the Allegheny Mountains.
Time cited it after its completion as Wright's most beautiful job;[5] it is listed among Smithsonian's Life List of 28 places to visit before you die.[6] It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1966.[3] In 1991, members of the American Institute of Architects named the house the best all-time work of American architecture and in 2007, it was ranked twenty-ninth on the list of America's Favorite Architecture according to the AIA
