The Festetics Palace in Keszthely is the third Hungarian palace in size, while it is the most popular with visitors. It functions as a museum and an events center.
Christopher Festetics began the construction of the Festetics Palacein 1745. The two-storey, U-shaped, 34-room Baroque palace was rebuilt several times in the 18th and 19th centuries. Between 1769 and 1770 Paul Festetics III, Christopher’s son had the building reconstructed. The wings were enlarged while the facades remained unaltered. His son, George Festetics I, started the next major reconstruction in 1792. He added the southern library wing to the palace.
Between 1883 and 1887 Tassilo Festetics II had the northern wing demolished and a new wing built which was joined to the old one by a turreted central part. Thus, he almost doubled the size of the palace. The building was covered with a mansard roof, and fitted with central heating and plumbing. After the modification of the facades and the interiors, especially the staircases, the palace acquired its present form.
The building is surrounded by a nature reserve park. The sights in the park include trees that are hundreds of years old, colourful flowerbeds, fountains, statues – among them the full-figure bronze statue of George Festetics I –, the garden pond and the fountain decorated with lions. The palm house and the former coach house with the coach exhibition can be found in the park, while the new building of the hunting exhibition and the historical model railway exhibition is opposite the back gate of the park.

The Festetics Palace is a Baroque palace located in the town of Keszthely, Zala, Hungary. The building now houses the Helikon Palace Museum.
The palace's construction, started by Kristóf Festetics in 1745, lasted more than a century. During this time, the palace, built at first on the foundations of a ruined castle, was tripled in size in two subsequent building campaigns, most recently in the 1880s, to designs by Viktor Rumpelmayer, living in Vienna.
When Rumpelmayer died in 1885, the work was carried to completion by architects Gusztáv Haas and Miksa Paschkisch.The result is one of the three largest country houses in Hungary.

We then walk around the lake and the formal gardens and take a look at the Palace itself.

The Queen charged him with the drawing up of the decree called Urbarium, and conferred the title of Count on him in 1772. He also became the Queen’s Confidential Advisor and the Vice-President of the Hungarian Chamber. Apart from his political activities, Paul alsofounded the first primary and secondary schools in Keszthely.George I (1755-1819), Paul’s son, was the most significant member of the family. In 1797 he founded Georgikon, the first agricultural college in Europe. He commissioned the building of the first large sailing vessel on Lake Balaton, the Phoenix Galley. He was a generous patron of culture. He added the library wing to the palace and collected newly published books. He organized the first Helikon Festivities in 1817 with the participation of the greatest poets and writers of his age. He also established a grammar school in Csurgó.The highest ranking member of the family was Tassilo II (1850-1933), George’s great-grandson. He was considered ’the greatest Hungarian aristocrat’. He was Royal Court Chamberlain, Privy Councilor and Lord Steward. By marrying the English Princess Mary Hamilton, he got in connection with Western European royal families. In 1911 the title of Prince was conferred to Tassilo by the Emperor Franz Joseph.

S 111 dvoranami je ena največjih palač na Madžarskem. Ena najlepših soban je knjižnica z več kot 100.000 knjigami, ki so se čudežno rešile pred uničenjem med 2. svetovno vojno.

В этом видео я бы хотел показать дворец графов Фештетичей. Этот комплекс находится в старинном городе Кестхей на западе Венгрии.. В самом сердце города раскинулся великолепный парк, в котором в середине 18 века был возведен один из самых больших дворцов Венгрии.
Представители рода Фештетичей были известными меценатами. Благодаря им в городе Кестхей были построены первая гимназия, первое в Европе сельскохозяйственное училище, больница, несколько аптек. Первая лечебная купальня на озере Хевиз также была построена на средства и по инициативе меценатов Фештетичей.
На территории комплекса есть оранжереи , красивые пруды и множество музеев.
