Finger Lakes State Park
Finger Lakes State Park is a state park in the U.S. state of Missouri consisting of 1,128 acres in Boone County near the city of Columbia. The park is unusual in that the site was reclaimed after having been strip mined for coal. Between 1964 and 1967 the area was known as Peabody Coal's Mark Twain Mine, from which the company removed 1.2 million short tons of coal. Peabody donated the land to the state for use as a park, and the state restored the site with one of a dozen federal grants issued with the intent to demonstrate the conversion of strip-mined land to recreational use.

Finger Lakes State Park is a public recreation area consisting of 1,128 acres in Boone County near the city of Columbia, Missouri USA. Dirt biking with Justin and Wendi at Finger Lakes. First time out on a track for all of us. I crash at 6 mins 40 seconds. First time using the helmet cam too, so hopefully I can do a better job filming next time.
Finger Lakes ATV & Motocross Park, Columbia, Missouri
This is a great place to ride for the $5 per rider. It has a motocross track, wide-open trails maintained by a bulldozer for new riders, a peewee track for the little bikes, and plenty of trails off the main open trail to test your skills hill climbing. When it is wet, there is plenty of mud and even when it is dry, there are still places to find that one can get muddy. It is great riding for all skill levels and you can ride for hours if you keep taking new paths and not double up. Then when you are done with the trails, hit the motocross track, which is being renovated and it is already in good shape. They are making many of the double jumps into tabletop jumps, for safety for all skill levels. The new track is set up better and safer. There are muddy spots, dry spots, serious hill climbs, medium hill climbs, and small climbs for the kids. Take it slow around the trees in the woods when headed off the main trail, some of the trails down and up are steep.
From the site:
In the open riding area of the park, a designated dirt trail is identified that leads motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles from the campground to the motocross track, the staging area and south to the park office. The trail takes riders through wooded landscape that has been reclaimed from Peabody Coal, which strip-mined coal from the area during the 1960s. Rider will pass by a number of lakes and steep mounds measuring 20 to 30 feet both deep and high.
This trail is marked with information signs leading riders to destination points in the park and is designed for all skill level riders. There are steep grades and mud along the trail as well as slippery surfaces and some downed vegetation.
This 5.25 miles of trail is the only designated and maintained trail in the off-road riding area. However, riders may have developed other paths and routes in the area. All riders are advised to use precaution at all times. Efforts have been made to make Finger Lakes State Park a safe riding area, however natural forces may create unknown hazards. Riders ride at their own risk.

Rocks, roots and/or downed vegetation on trail
Physically challenging obstacles
Steep grades and inclines more than 10 percent
Bluffs or drop-offs next to trail
Water/stream crossings without bridges
Occasional water over trail
Road/highway crossing
