American Artifacts: Philadelphia's Carpenters' Hall
Carpenters' Company historian Roger Moss leads a tour of the building that served as the meeting place of the First Continental Congress in 1774. It was also the former home to Ben Franklin's Library Company, the American Philosophical Society, and the First and Second Banks of the United States. The building was constructed in 1770 by members of the oldest trade guild in America.

Philadelphia
Congress Hall
First Bank of the United States
Betsy Ross House
Fireman's Hall Museum
Carpenter's Historic Hall

Franklin's Harmony A Tribute to Firefighting
The Fireman’s Hall Museum, located in Olde City, partnered in a documentary video that was projected at dusk on the north wall of the historic firehouse. The historic fire house owned by Brandywine was the last home of the Harmony Fire Company.
This video was part of the event that recognized the history of firefighting beginning with the first volunteer fire company established by Benjamin Franklin and the subsequent establishment of the Philadelphia Fire Department, which resulted in the retirement of one of the last all-volunteer firehouses located at the 730-32 South Broad Street address.
The Brandywine Workshop and Archives, payed tribute to Benjamin Franklin, the founding father of firefighting in the United States, and celebrate the founding of the Philadelphia Fire Department in 1871 as well as the 50th anniversary of the local station. As part of the festivities, one of the last all-volunteer, nationally historic firehouses built in Philadelphia (1849) was highlighted. Captain John Narkin organized the celebration of the 711 South Broad Street station’s 50th anniversary and Brandywine Workshop hosted the celebration on the Grass Plaza at 728 S Broad Street.

A gunman killed himself after opening fire on a Florida school board meeting. He was confronted by two school officials, one who attacked him with her purse, and another, the security chief, who fired his gun at the shooter.
Police said a 56-year-old man disrupted the the Bay District School Board meeting in Panama City, Fla., walked up to the podium, pulled out a can of red spray paint and painted a large letter V with a circle around it.
The shooter approached the front of the board members, spray painted a symbol on the wall and fired an unknown amount of rounds, said Panama City Police Department spokesman Sgt. Jeff Becker.

Firefighter Funeral
A long procession of fire trucks and police cars from many other police and fire agencies throughout the area turn into Lake View Gardens of Memory in Fairview Heights on Friday. They were following the fire truck carrying the casket of James McQuary, who died Sunday at age 80. He was a veteran member of the Caseyville Fire Department, and was previously a Caseyville fire marshal, a member of the Madison County Task Force, and a former member of the Caseyville auxiliary police department. He also served in the Korean conflict in both the U.S. Army and Air Force. A fire department honor guard carried his casket from the fire truck into the Reiss Chapel for final blessings and the traditional ringing of the fire bell for a fallen firefighter.

Newark Sabres vs Raiders Hockey Semi-finals 1992 Ep#2 Renna's Arena
Exclusive! The Sabres, Newark's own Semi-pro Hockey team, face-off in the third and final game against the Raiders in the best-of-three Semi-final series.
After tying the series at one game apiece, the Sabres look for a win, advancing to face Suffern, NY in the Championship Game.
The Sabres drew home ice advantage for Game 3 and played in front of a raucous crowd at the classic Ironbound Arena on Wilson Ave. in Newark, NJ, just down the block from Krug's Tavern, where the Sabres' #1 Fan, Margie , hosts the team's post game festivities.
With the score tied 1-1 at the end of the 2nd Period, we begin our video during the intermission interviewing players such as Center #12 Brian Decker, defenseman “Rambo”, and “The Fireman”.
(6:08) Also we interview Margie of Krug’s Tavern (4:34) and Team manager, Keith Yurick whose commemorative banner hangs from the rafters.
(30:36) Brian Decker assists on a pretty play to #18 Ryan Schiff who found the back of the net to tie the game at 2-2 in the 3rd.
(35:52) Sadly, the Sabres lost 3-2 in this semi final game on a late power play goal from the Raiders #5 Olson.

Funeral Procession - SFFD LODD - Lt Vinnie Perez and FF Tony Valerio
The San Francisco Fire Department is mourning the loss of two of its members from Engine Company 26, who were both critically injured during an explosion while bravely fighting a house fire in the Diamond Heights neighborhood on June 2, 2011. Both died at the hospital as a result of their injuries after all rescussitative measures were taken by the Emergency Trauma staff at San Francisco General Hospital.
Lt Vincent Perez and FF/PM Anthony Valerio - The two firefighters fought fires together, died together, were memoralized together and were buried together.
Fire Departments from throughout California sent equipment to participate in the Funeral Procession, and many departments from around the United States, Canada and other countries sent representatives.
The funeral procession is preceded by a large team of San Francisco PD Harley Davidson Motorcycle officers moving ahead of the procession to setup road closures. Earlier motor officers from other departments had closed the streets closest to St Mary's Cathedral.
Trickett's Tickets: Continental Congress Bookbinder and his Blank Books Made in the USA, 1775-1780.
This video discusses the colonial emigrant bookbinder William Trickett (ca. 1738–1780), the only American whose ticketed bindings can be found among the records of the Continental
Congress, the first government of the United States of America (USA). Trickett was a stationer, a Freemason, and may have been a Patriot during the Revolutionary War.[1] As of 2017, the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) retains probably the
largest collection of Trickett bindings. Biographical information about Trickett, combined with his well-preserved handiwork, e.g., his distinct style of using tickets, tools, and materials to construct and decorate the covers of the books he sold, help to unravel a mystery, and what was once thought to be an impossible task, that of identifying who bound-by-hand blankbooks that now contain the USA’s earliest manuscript records.[2] Presented in this video are Trickett’s five “tickets,” a type of trade or business card attached inside his bindings, serving as a signature. Ticketed Trickett bindings help to attribute some of NARA’s twenty-nine additional, but ticketless, originals to him. The significant content captured in Trickett’s blankbooks includes the Founders’ real-time minute entries, indicating the USA’s declaration of independence from Britain.[3] These bindings should be preserved as artifacts
and are as American as the words contained within.[4]
[1] In this instance, a Patriot refers to an American colonist who rebelled against the British in 1776. The American Revolution lasted from 1775 to 1783.
[2] This essay is dedicated to the memory of Willman (1920–2010) and Carol (1929–2016) Spawn. I adopted the methodology they developed over sixty years, that of connecting biographical facts about bookbinders with the material features they leave behind on the books they made and decorated. Later, Tom Kinsella joined their efforts. They encouraged my work and taught me their techniques. In addition to providing me with numerous photocopies of their articles, they shared a six-page document of unpublished Trickett research with me, referred to herein as “Spawn’s unpublished research.”

It contains the 4 July 1776 entry on pp. 94–97 and an 11 July 1776 entry on p. 124, indicating that Congress paid Trickett for stationery; see Appendix 4. Trickett’s Accounts, #2. TEDxPhiladelphia - Unintended Consequences
The moment that we recognize the impact of an unintended consequence, a new story unfolds. Ideas that arise from unintended consequences are deeply personal. An unintended consequence forces us to reassess our assumptions and challenge our narratives.
Unintended Consequences is the official theme for TEDxPhiladelphia 2019.
The daylong multidisciplinary conference will bring together engaging speakers, performers, and participants to share their stories and experiences of unanticipated moments, their challenges and unexpected opportunities that arose from this, and how it's shaped who they are and what they do today.
