Best Things to do in Kauai
► Hike the Na Pali Coast! The Na Pali Coast is one of the most beautiful places on planet earth! Have you seen Jurassic Park? You remember the iconic helicopter scenes? Those are here at the Na Pali Coast! The best way to see the Na Pali coast from above is by hiking, and the two best hikes we found were the Awa-awapuhi and Honopu Ridge trails. The Kalepa Ridge trail is also supposed to be incredible, however the trail entrance was blocked by a ranger when we visited. On top of those hikes, the Kalalau and Pu-u O Kila Lookouts are also incredible and bring you literally sky high! We were above the clouds at Pu-u O Kila!
► Capt Andy's Raft Excursion! This is simply the best excursion on the island if you are interested in adventure. The guide takes you on an incredible journey of the Na Pali Coast including stops at caves, waterfalls, beaches, and ruins of a native settlement. The day is full of dolphins, sea turtles, snorkeling, laughter, and meeting new friends! And our guides were absolutely incredible, we truly feel that this was our best day in Kauai.
► Queen's Bath. First things first, only visit the Queen's Bath during a safe period. At high tide when waves are crashing on the rocks this can be a dangerous place. Check ahead of time when and whether you should be going. When you do reach the Queen's Bath, you'll have an incredible time. The bath is a beautiful tide pool that fills with colorful fish and even has a small cliff jump!
► Explore Wailua! The Wailua area has the most beautiful waterfalls on the island, and is home to the Kuilau Ridge, one of our absolute favorite hikes on the island. This trail takes you on a wildly beautiful ridgeline with the Hawaiian jungle surrounding you. Wailua Falls and Opaeka'a Falls were our favorite waterfalls on the island!
Where to Stay in Kauai
We recommend exploring a few different hotels during your time, so that you get a taste of each part of the island! Here were our 3 favorite hotels on the island, which each give you a unique experience:
► Grand Hyatt Kauai
► Waimea Plantation Cottages
► Kauai Beach Resort
If you have any questions, we would love to hear from you in the Comments or on our About Us page. Looking forward to hearing from you!
Hi, we are Julie & Zach, a couple who sold everything in 2018 and took off an adventure around the world! So far, this journey has taken us in a van ALL ACROSS the United States and Canada, from snorkeling with manatees in Florida to camping in the Grand Canyon to climbing glaciers in Canada, and everything in between! We were both working and going to school while living in Chicago in 2017 and 2018, and to be honest it really wore on us. We were exhausted, unfulfilled, and ready for an adventure. So, we made it happen! We saved up AS MUCH as we could over those 2 years - all homemade meals, no shopping, walk or bike everywhere, etc - and sold almost all of our belongings! With that money, we bought a renovated a van that we have been living in ever since! We started our YouTube channel a few weeks ago and have been loving creating videos! When we started, we were SO SO SO SO bad at it, and to be honest we still kinda suck, but we want to get better! What videos do you want to see? What do you want to know? Let us know and we will make it happen!
We believe that travel is truly a life-changing experience, it certainly changed ours! When you get out of your everyday world and experience new cultures, foods, places, people, sights, sounds, and take an adventure, you grow as a person and you become a better version of yourself! You are WAY stronger than you know, and stronger than you give yourself credit for. You have the ability to do anything, so make it happen! BE FOREVER FREE!

Where is the dumpster?
This video was filmed in the spring of 2018 in the Ukumehame area in west Maui. The 150 acre parcel is County land that has not been managed properly for many years. The County generously provided 3 dumpsters so the homeless folks had a place to put their rubbish and pick up the trash that had been accumulating for at least 15 years. Maui County picked up about 25 vehicles in the area as of 10/23/18, but the area remains trashed out. Many more vehicles on State and County land need to be removed. Many more dumpster loads of trash need to be removed as well. Anticipating a planned clean up with State and County resources In the summer of 2018, Maui County evicted the homeless people, but never followed up with any enforcement. They remain there today. As of today, 10/23/18, I am not aware of any date scheduled for the clean up project. The County access road remains open to the general public and illegal dumping of abandoned and stripped vehicles, household rubbish, and garden trimmings continues almost daily.

Had a great time on my hike with Andrew. He took me to places I didn't know existed. Our hike was amazing.
I went with my wife and 10 month old child. We went on a hike off the beaten path and didn't see many people along the way. Great for families.

Kauai Hawaii 2015
Kauai Hawaii Things to Do 2015
Don't leave Kauai without checking out the dry West side of the island. You'll discover Kokee Park, Waimea Canyon, Polihale Beach and Waimea Cottages where you can sup and sip your way to fun and a stunning sunset.
This is old Hawaii at its finest. This property used to be a plantation - the workers lived in these bungalows that are now $200 to $500 per night.
Hey you can also stop in and eat at Kalapaki Joe's and they have a great happy hour 3 to 6PM - no one cares if you get an ice tea but most won't. Deals on appetizers too and the setting is surreal.
That's a bargain with incredible scenery. Awe-inspiring.
Yes it is a drive from the north shore, takes about an hour from Kapaa, but its worth it.
Great for birthdays, or every day.

Kauai - Hawaii Our Trip Video 2 Buddy Huggins
Kauai -Hawaiian: is geologically the oldest of the main Hawaiian Islands. With an area of 562.3 square miles (1,456.4 km2), it is the fourth largest of the main islands in the Hawaiian archipelago, and the 21st largest island in the United States. Known also as the Garden Isle, Kauaʻi lies 105 miles (169 km) across the Kauaʻi Channel, northwest of Oʻahu. This island is the site of Waimea Canyon State Park.
The United States Census Bureau defines Kauaʻi as Census Tracts 401 through 409 of Kauaʻi County, Hawaiʻi, which is all of the county except for the islands of Kaʻula, Lehua, and Niʻihau. The 2010 census population of Kauaʻi (the island) was 67,091,[5] with the largest town by population being Kapaʻa.
Island facts
Some of Kauaʻi's feral chickens at Lydgate Beach Park
Hawaii Standard Time is observed on Kauaʻi year-round. During DST, for example, the time on Kauaʻi is three hours behind the West Coast of the United States and six hours behind the East Coast.[15]
The city of Līhuʻe, on the island's southeast coast, is the seat of Kauaʻi County and the second largest city on the island. Kapaʻa, on the Coconut Coast (site of an old coconut plantation) about 6 miles (9.7 km) north of Līhuʻe, has a population of nearly 10,000, or about 50% greater than Līhuʻe. Waimea, once the capital of Kauaʻi on the island's southwest side, was the first place in Hawaiʻi visited by British explorer Captain James Cook in 1778.
Kauaʻi is home to thousands of wild chickens, who have few natural predators. Kauaʻi's chickens originated from the original Polynesian settlers, who brought them as a food source. They have since bred with European chickens that have gotten free from farms and cock-fighting breeders.
Kauaʻi is home to the U.S. Navy's Barking Sands Pacific Missile Range Facility, on the sunny and dry western shore.
HF (shortwave) radio station WWVH, sister station to WWV and WWVB in Ft. Collins, Colorado, is located on the west coast of Kauai about 5 km south of Barking Sands. WWVH, WWV and WWVB are operated by the US National Institute of Standards and Technology, broadcasting standard time and frequency information to the public.
The Kauaʻi Heritage Center of Hawaiian Culture and the Arts was founded in 1998. Their mission is to nurture a greater sense of appreciation and respect for the Hawaiian culture. They offer classes in Hawaiian language, hula, lei and cordage making, the lunar calendar and chanting, plus trips to cultural sites.
Tourism is Kauaʻi's largest industry. In 2007, 1,271,000 people visited Kauaʻi. The two largest groups were from the United States (84% of all visitors) and Japan (3%).[12] As of 2003, there were a total of approximately 27,000 jobs on Kauaʻi, of which the largest sector was accommodation/food services (26%, 6,800 jobs) followed by government (15%) and retail (14.5%), with agriculture accounting for just 2.9% (780 jobs) and educational services providing just 0.7% (183 jobs).[13] In terms of income, the various sectors that constitute the visitors industry accounted for one third of Kauai's income.[13] On the other hand, employment is dominated by small businesses, with 87% of all nonfarm businesses having fewer than 20 employees.[13] As of 2003, Kauaʻi's unemployment rate was 3.9%, compared to 3.0% for the entire state and 5.7% for the United States as a whole; and, Kauaʻi's poverty rate was 10.5%, compared to the State's 10.7%.[13]
As of mid-2004, the median price of a single-family home was $528,000, a 40% increase over 2003. As of 2003, Kauaʻi's percentage of home ownership, 48%, was significantly lower than the State's 64%, and vacation homes were a far larger part of the housing stock than the State-wide percentage (Kauaʻi 15%, State 5%).[13]
In the past, sugar plantations were Kauaʻi's most important industry. In 1835 the first sugar plantation was founded on Kauaʻi and for the next century the industry would dominate the economy of Hawaii.[14] Most of that land is now used for ranching.[12] Kauaʻi's sole remaining sugar operation, the 118-year-old Gay & Robinson Plantation plans to transform itself into a manufacturer of sugar-cane ethanol.[12]
Land in Kauaʻi is very fertile and is home to many varieties of fruit and other crops. Guava, coffee, sugarcane, mango, banana, papaya, avocado, star fruit, kava and pineapple are all cultivated. Support Me Here At This Link
2015 Kauai 1
2015 January Kauai Ghetto Tennis
Ep 2: A week in #Kauai. Exploring Kauai.
Visited Kauai for about a week in November of 2018.
Day 1: Took a helicopter ride by
Make sure to choose one without the door.
Day 2: Went on a snorkeling trip by
We were asked to go for a catamaran rather than the speed boats. Catamarans are much more stable with more room to roam about for a more comfortable journey. On our way to Napali coast, we also saw white bellied dolphins.
Day 3: We went for an early morning yoga at Princeville. After that, we decided to hike the Ho'opi'i falls. It is a very small hike with 3 waterfalls that you can take a dip into.
Day 4: We hiked and canoed to the Secret Falls. We had to take the canoe from the Kamokila Village, which is an authentic Hawaiian village. From there you take the canoe upstream to a spot where you can park and then hike about 45 mins to reach the Secret Falls. Remember to take good water shoes as the trail will get muddier with increasing tourists visiting the falls.
Day 5: We again went on a hike to the Awa'awapuhi Trail ( Hands down one of the best trails I have been on so far.
Day 6: We toured the island for one last time. We went north to Hanalei from where we shopped a bit, eat a lot and then drove south stopping at Kilauea Lighthouse and then at Poipu.
Our stay:
Restaurants we visited in no order of rating:
- Best poke in town. Must try! They also have a branch in Poipu, but recommend visiting the Hanalei one.
- Great vegan options. Beware! Roosters roam about around the tables, don't let them steal your food.
- Fresh juices. Try their Sugarcane Baby which is usually served on Thursdays and Saturdays.
- Sonal's favorite place in Kauai. They have large varieties of Acai bowls and juices which are made right there and then. Freshest juices on the island!
- Awesome views of the ocean. Great Mai Tais!
- As the site says, the best pasta in Kauai!
- Descent menu and food.
- Great coffee, we started our day with Ha coffee every other day while we were in Kauai.
- Awesome views of the largest pool on the island, great place to chill.
- Live music and good local food. Not a must visit, so plan accordingly.
Sanchez Hawaii Honeymoon Oahu
Dan and Jen Sanchez enjoying there unforgettable Hawaii Honeymoon in Oahu in 2013. We had so much fun. We got to do a helicopter tour, Marlin fishing charter, shark diving, pearl harbor, and we enjoyed all the fine dining and beautiful scenery available on the island. We stayed at the Hyatt and the Hilton in the penthouse suite.
