Creating Marine Habitat The Artificial Reef part 2
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's (FWC) artificial reef program, created in 1982, provides financial and technical assistance to coastal local governments, nonprofit corporations and state universities to develop artificial reefs and to monitor and evaluate these reefs. Florida has one of the most active artificial reef programs among the 14 Gulf and Atlantic coastal states involved in artificial reef development. Thirty-four of Florida's 35 coastal counties spread along 8,426 miles of tidal coastline (1,200 miles fronting the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Ocean) are, or have been, involved in artificial reef development.

Pew’s ‘100&Change’ Proposal to End Illegal Fishing
Illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing is a global threat that harms fish populations, marine ecosystems, and the coastal communities that rely on fish for food and jobs. Every year, 26 million tons of fish are stolen from the world’s ocean.
This 90-second video was produced by The Pew Charitable Trusts for the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation’s “100&Change” competition, which will award $100 million to fund a single proposal that promises measurable progress in solving a significant problem of our time. In this video, manager Julie Janovsky describes Pew’s proposal to combine information-sharing and technology to address the global challenge of illegal fishing.

Does anyone know if this might be RED TIDE
I live on a small lake that the HOA has allowed harvest fish with a 25-30 foot net this man has been doing this for 14 years. I have lived here for two years now and this year it is blood red. I keep telling the HOA that this man is harvesting all of our algae eaters the tilapia, bull fish and pychostamus. Last year when he would drop the net there would be a huge hall, now this year I see him pull up next to nothing. I have complained to the HOA several times only to be told there is no such thing as RED TIDE in fresh water, and all this is drainage from the streets into the sewers then to the lake. There is a lake less then 1/2 mile from here about the same size NO red on there water, but they don't allow someone to net fish. I need feed back has anyone seen anything like this or is this RED TIDE?

How to Catch Hidden Fishing Bait on the Beach
In this video, I am going to teach you how to catch hidden beach bait to catch more fish on the beach. The bait we are targeting is sand fleas. These little creatures roam the beaches up and down the coast of Florida. The sand fleas move throughout the surf zone and bury themselves in the sand as the tide and waves move up and down. I used a grated metal rake to catch these creatures. They make great bait for many different species of fish, especially for pompano!

Catching Colorful Fish and a Giant Shark:
Shark Attacks our Giant Tuna
In this episode, I go fishing offshore with Carl from Slob City Fishing Charters using live bait to catch kingfish, sailfish, dolphin, and blackfin tuna. We used four kite baits and several flat-lined baits. Our first bite was a solid kingfish (estimated around 25-30lbs). Shortly after, we caught a dolphin (mahi-mahi), two smaller kingfish and a mutton snapper! While Carl was reeling in a kingfish, one of the flat lines started bending! Sailfish on! While I was fighting the sailfish, a hammerhead shark appeared out of nowhere and ate Carl's kite bait. Carl nearly got spooled by the hammerhead! As I was landing the sailfish, the hammerhead broke the line on Carl's reel. Later in the day, Carl hooked another hammerhead shark, but unfortunately, this shark broke the fishing line as well! At the end of the day, both Carl and I hooked two fish that we believed were tuna. I managed to catch mine before Carl; it turned out to be a bonito (false albacore). Carl got his fish to the boat; it was a giant blackfin tuna (over 30lbs)!! A sandbar shark attacked the blackfin tuna and nearly took half the fish! We worked all day to get that tuna bite, and at the end, the shark ended up taking half of the fish. We still had a great day on the water and caught a bunch of excellent fish!!

Tens of thousands of dead fish found at Greek lake
(19 Sep 2019) Tens of thousands of dead fish have been found on the banks of a lake in a protected nature reserve in northern Greece after high temperatures and drought conditions caused a severe drop in water levels.
State environmental officials said Thursday the water level at Lake Koroneia has dropped by more than 70% percent in the past three years, to 80 centimetres (31 inches), with the decline triggering the death of carp, sunfish, bleak and other freshwater fish.
Biologist Athena Patsia claimed the lack of rain and high temperatures during the summer led to the decline of the water level and oxygen in the water.
Once one of Greece's largest lakes, Koroneia is 30 kilometres (18.5 miles) east of Greece's second-largest city Thessaloniki.
Originally spanning 4,500 hectares (11,000 acres), it has shrunk to about a third of its original size over the past three decades.
The lake is part of the European Union's network of protected nature areas and Greek authorities have launched a long-term effort to try and prevent Koroneia from drying out, employing water diversions, temporary fishing bans, and a crackdown on the illegal disposal of industrial waste from nearby factories.
Water levels had stabilised at about three metres (10 feet) by 2015, but summers are getting longer and hotter.
Villages on the banks of Koroneia and nearby Lake Volvi have seen their livelihoods hit by the receding water.
There are thousands of dead fish near us and the smell is awful, said corner shop owner Nikolaos Rossias from the lakeside village of Agios Vassilis.
Our lake was beautiful, people visited fish taverns. Agios Vasileios used to have ten of them, he said.

Ninja Gator! Alligator climbs fence.
This video was shot in the parking lot of an Everglades tour company in Miami Florida; Where I worked for a year DRIVING AIR BOATS. (496 Big block General motors Engines) This is one of the 1.3 million (estimated) Alligators roaming free in the South Florida Everglades. I captured this event on my iPhone, only minutes after I had just pulled into the parking lot for work at 8am. Gators are truly amazing creatures and you'll never know all their secrets unless you actually spend time in the everglades (and observe them up close like I did.) It's amazing to think that some scientists don't even know that Alligators can do this.
The Gator in this video was in a public parking lot, so (part) of my job was to herd them away so they don't get hurt by the lot traffic; Or so they don't accidentally bite anyone... Trust me! The tourists that went here are pretty stupid, and are usually the instigators of Alligator bites themselves. I love Alligators, and would do anything to help any of these magnificent creatures (if in peril). With YouTube videos it's easy to get the wrong idea. I was not harassing this gator, I was helping.
Beautiful Boat Tailed Grackle
Boat Tailed Grackles are actually quite stunning and intelligent birds when seen out in the wild foraging in the morning sun. Their feathers constantly change colors and shimmer blue, green and purple. If you have only seen them in the cities you are in for a treat. Also check out this handsome BT Grackle:
They are primarily a bird of the southeast coastal areas and prefer marshes and wetlands. These birds forage on the ground, in shallow water, or in shrubs; they will steal food from other birds. They are omnivorous, eating insects, minnows, frogs, eggs, berries, seeds, and grain, even small birds.
Boat-tailed grackles have established significant populations in several United States Gulf Coast cities and towns where they can be found foraging in trash bins, dumpsters, and parking lots.
This bird's song is a harsh jeeb, and it has a variety of typically grackle-like chatters and squeaks.

Body found off of I 75 near Colonial Blvd exit
LEE COUNTY, FL -
Still calling it a death investigation, Lee County Sheriff's Office detectives remain are on scene of a body found on the side of I-75 south Colonial Boulevard.
They say it is very preliminary. Rain was blamed for hindering the speed of their progress when they arrived just before noon.
Crime tape marks the scene just beyond the exit ramp. After a couple of hours into the investigation, the body was removed from a high grassy area which was about a hundred feet from the side of I-75.
A lawn company truck was near the scene during the time the investigation was going on. The driver and passenger of the truck spoke to investigators however we have not heard what role if any, did they play in this case.
Traffic was slow going in the right hand lane during the noon hour when the first reports of law enforcement arrived.
Due to the investigation, traffic in the southbound lanes is restricted to only two lanes open near the Colonial Blvd. exit ramp.
Some of the equipment brought in to secure the scene has been cleaned up. There is no official word if this death is suspicious.Subcribe on my channel
