Take a trip up in the Citrus Tower in Clermont, Florida. The Citrus Tower is a Florida landmark that was built in 1956.
The observation tower is 226-feet-tall, and sits at more than 500 feet above sea level; making it the highest observation point in Florida.
This used to be one of the most famous icons in all of Florida. Walt Disney World opened in 1971.

The Florida Citrus Tower is a 226-foot-tall (69 m) structure built in 1956 in Clermont, Florida.[2] Once the most famous landmark of the Orlando area, it was built to allow visitors to observe the miles of orange groves surrounding it; developments in the citrus industry since its construction have left it providing a view of suburban neighborhoods today. With the antenna reaching over 500 feet (152 m) above sea level, it is the highest observation point in Florida. In early 2015, the Citrus Tower received a new paint job, giving it a new but retro look, with an orange line going down the middle of each side.

Scott and Heather Homan have taken ownership of the historic property and are transforming the roadside attraction into a community space complete with a coffee shop, arcade, restaurant and other forms of retail. Citrus Tower in Clermont, Florida
This is the Citrus Tower in Clermont, FL. It opened here in 1955 in the middle Florida in an area that was known for it's Citrus production. This area was quite a site to behold as there were Citrus Groves litterally as far as the eye could see. That is, until the back to back freezes we had in 1984, 86, and 89 which destroyed all the citrus industries in the Central Florida area. Nearby Groveland was also hard it as it was where the citrus related industries were located.

We visited Citrus Tower right after leaving the President's Hall of Fame. They are right next to each other just off of US Hwy 27 in Clermont.

Downtown Clermont Florida is located 30 minutes west of Orlando also known as the South Lake area by locals. As you enter the downtown Clermont area on 8th Street you see a small lake with a bustling fountain to your left. We pass the tree-lined streets to get to the main areas of downtown Clermont. This area consists of one mile wide by .5 miles located in between Lake Minneola and going westbound on route 50.
