Florida Keys' Hidden Rain Forest - Lignumvitae Key
We caught a skiff out to Lignumvitae Key. Once a haven for Conquistadores, pirates, hermits, and the anti-Castro movement. We decided to visit because of its virgin tropical rain forest. He explained that the Keys namesake, Lignumvitae, is a unique and valuable hardwood. Europeans thought its oils could cure syphyllis. Unfortunately, it only made the symptoms go away and not the disease. But it did have other uses. It's another fascinting hidden gem of the Florida Keys.

The Laura Quinn Wild Bird Sanctuary, in Tavernier, Florida provides a humane, natural and protected refuge to hindered birds. The Sanctuary is open to the public, and there you can see birds rarely seen by people. The birds come from The Florida Keys Wild Bird Rehabilitation Center, for sick and injured wild native birds, when the rehabilitated birds cannot be released back into the wild.

Awesome Wildlife and Bridge Fishing in the Florida Keys!
Day 3 of my vacation to the Florida Keys and Everglades. In this video I film an endangered key deer, an alligator, a bald eagle, a manatee, and nurse sharks in the Florida Keys. I also do some fishing off of one of the bridges along the overseas highway and enjoy some seafood at Keys Fisheries!

Florida Key's Wild Bird Center Ribbon Cutting and Farewell to Joan Scholz
