In the Shadow of the Capitol: Theater in Segregated Washington Part 1
In the Shadow of the Capitol was aimed at preserving the history and memories of the African-American intellectual and professional community in Washington, DC, between the 1922 dedication of the Lincoln Memorial and the 1963 I Had a Dream speech by Martin Luther King, Jr.
The program culminated in a symposium at the Folger Shakespeare Library that brought some of that era's greatest luminaries to the attention of new audiences.
In this segment, actress and professor Juanita Fletcher moderates a panel that includes Owen Dodson, May Miller, and Anne Cook Reid.

STORYLINE:
Britain's Prince Charles and his wife Camilla said goodbye to Washington DC on Friday with a solemn tribute to America's war dead.
A military guard of honour greeted Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall as they laid a wreath of red and white flowers at the National World War II Memorial.
The couple walked slowly around the inside of the vast monument - a circle of 50 granite pillars flanked by arches around a pool and fountains - before stopping to chat to veterans.
Attending the ceremony were American and British veterans who fought in World War II.
Throughout the royal tour of the United States, Charles has underlined the bond between Britain and the US, forged in part by the shared struggle in World War II.
The couple were also due to meet students learning about Britain's greatest playwright, William Shakespeare, at the Folger Shakespeare Library before flying to New Orleans.
There, they will meet recovery workers in the impoverished lower Ninth Ward, which was all but obliterated when water breached one of the levees that protected the city during Hurricane Katrina.
Earlier, Charles, who in the past has advocated a greater understanding of Islam from the West, met representatives of Christian, Muslim and Jewish groups at Georgetown's Centre for Muslim-Christian Understanding.
The US tour, which began on Tuesday in New York, will also include a visit to San Francisco, California and is believed to be part of a careful palace plan to win acceptance for the Duchess.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
The National Mall is a landscaped park within the National Mall and Memorial Parks, an official unit of the United States National Park System. It is located near the downtown area of Washington, D.C., the capital city of the United States, and is administered by the National Park Service (NPS) of the United States Department of the Interior. The term National Mall commonly includes areas that are also officially part of neighboring West Potomac Park and Constitution Gardens to the southwest. The term is often taken to refer to the entire area between the Lincoln Memorial on the west and east to the United States Capitol grounds, with the Washington Monument dividing the area slightly west of its midpoint. A smaller designation sometimes referred to as the National Mall (proper) excludes both the Capitol grounds and the Washington Monument grounds, applying only to an area between them. The National Mall contains and borders a number of museums of the Smithsonian Institution, art galleries, cultural institutions, and various memorials, sculptures, and statues. The park receives approximately 24 million visitors each year.
