Honolulu is the perfect place to start your exploration of this dream Pacific destination. Hundreds of miles of pristine, white sandy beaches, epic surfing, world-class shopping – Honolulu has it all. Hawaii's capital is located on the island of O'ahu. If you are traveling to Oahu, Hawaii and are looking for the best places in Honolulu, here are some recommendations:
Iolani Palace – The only official state residence of royalty in the U.S., Iolani Palace’s grounds and galleries are now open to the public as a museum.
Hilton Hawaiian Village – The Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort is located on 22 acres of the best beach-fronts on Waikiki. At this resort, you will relax among tropical gardens, waterfalls and ponds. And, you need to check out the penguins!
Valley of the Temples Memorial Park – Built in the 1960s, the Byodo-In Temple is a replica of the 960-year-old Byodo-In Temple in Uji, Japan.
Nuuanu Pali State Park – Pali means cliffs, and the lookout at Nuuanu Pali State Park overlooks 985-foot cliffs of the Koolau Mountain Range. It’s extremely windy so wear a light jacket and be careful! You can often lean into the wind and let the gusts hold you up. According to the website, Nuuanu Pali State Park is open daily (weather permitting) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free admission.
Pacific Aviation Museum – You can spend all day learning about what conditions were like for sailors on board the ships at Pearl Harbor.
Surfing in Hawaii – In the winter, go to the north shore for the big waves; in the summer, head to the south.
Speaking of beaches, with 112 miles of coast, O’ahu Island has some of the best beaches in Hawaii:
On the North shore, go to Kawela Bay/ Turtle Bay for a great place to snorkel and the best place to see a Hawaiian green sea turtle.
Waimea Bay is famous for its gigantic winter waves. In the summer, the waves calm down and many tourists go to Waimea Bay to swim and snorkel.
On the South shore, visit Waikiki Beach-, an internationally famous beach, which has over 4 million visitors every year. Waikiki Beach is the best place in Hawaii to learn how to surf or canoe. Or you could book a sailboat and cruise the ocean.
The Sandy Beach is a favorite of former President Barack Obama and a popular local beach.

Honolulu Oahu Hawaii Part I
On this adventure I took a trip to the beautiful island of Oahu, Hawaii. The island is very tropical, scenic & nature wonder. I stayed on the Pearl Navy Base in the city of Pearl which is all connected to Honolulu. Spent time all over the island in the touristy expensive Waikiki area, Aeia Heights, Pearl & North Shore. The local Hawaiian fast food spots are cheap outside the main tourists areas like Waikiki. The indigenous Hawaiian people are so very friendly and kind, especially to other ethnic people like myself. The beaches are beautiful & clean. The island is very congested in the Honolulu area, you can easily forget that you're on a island in the middle of the ocean that is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. North Shore was quite a pleasant experience going to the Polynesian Cultural Center & trying food from the shrimp trucks. Chief's Luau was nice, great cultural experience and showman with fire & dancing. This was an amazing trip, Part II will be coming sometime early summer 2018. Sit back and enjoy!
