Food Of Mexico, Is It Good? | Playa Del Carmen Mexican Food Tour DIY
Mexican food is on a different level! Our first stop in Mexico is Playa Del Carmen and we're on a DIY food tour, the tacos....⬇ More Below ✈ Our 220 page guide on how to travel non-stop —
Creating our own DIY Mexican food tour has to be the best way to get introduced to Playa Del Carmen and Mexico! Enough tacos to feed us for days. We've both visited Mexico before, but separately, and didn't really have the chance to go full food mode and taste the authentic Mexican dishes.... today that changes.
We're spending some time in Playa Del Carmen so found some of the most local and well known spots for the authentic representation of Mexican food, some of them are definitely still a bit popular with tourists because of their reputation, but still very traditional feeling for the most part. Tacos are everywhere, but finding out where to get the most authentic tacos and the real flavours (unlike the taco mixes represented around the world) is vital!
So is the food in Mexico good? That's pretty bloody obvious - it's incredible! We could eat tacos for life.

Mexico Street Food Tour - Playa del Carmen
Took the fam for a guided tour to find some Authentic Street Eats around the City of Playa del Carmen.
I have to admit the food is so much better than the overpriced restaurants. That was not surprising to me, but what was surprising is seems almost no foreigners ventured outside of the beaten path. Really too bad as they're missing out! Plus it's always good to support the local community.

Playa Del Carmen, Mexico Best Restaurant | Things To Do
Mexico: Looking for the best food, restaurants, and things to do inn Playa del Carmen near 5th Avenue? Playa del Carmen has a lot of great eats and my favorite restaurant is Bio-Organics. There are several Bio-Organics in the area but you have to go to the one that's one block off of 5th Avenue. I usually go here every day for a Banana Smoothie and the Vegan Chorizo tacos! They are delicious and I promise you'll go back wanting more. The food at Bio-Organics is relatively inexpensive and there are many options for Vegans and Vegetarians. Be sure to place this restaurant on your list when you visit Playa del Carmen.

Tulum, Quintana Roo, Mexico:
My wife Ying and I, and our baby Micah, traveled to Mexico with my friend Carlos and his family. I met Carlos many years ago in University in Phoenix, Arizona, and he’s originally from Sonora, in Northern Mexico. Throughout University, Carlos and I would eat Mexican food non-stop, and we dreamed of traveling in Mexico to experience more. Finally we made this trip happen!
We actually flew into Cancun, and then immediately drove down to Playa Del Carmen where we based ourselves. On our first day we decided to take a day trip to Tulum, a small town on the Riviera Maya coast, and one of the official historical port cities of the Maya.
Taquería Honorio - First things first, we started off with some breakfast tacos at a well known Mexican street food spot in Tulum. I had a mix of four different types of tacos, all of which were extraordinary, but probably the best was the lechon, the roast suckling pig. This is a must eat tacos restaurant when you’re in Tulum.
Price for my plate - 64 MXN ($3.45)
Ruins of Tulum - 70 MXN ($3.77) - One of the main attractions in Tulum are the ancient Mayan ruins. It’s a beautiful place, and what makes it so incredible are not only the ruins, but the fact that they are right up along the gorgeous turquoise Caribbean coast. It was great to walk around, even though it was packed with visitors.
Playa Paraiso - Next we drove over to Playa Paraiso, just down the beach from the Ruins of Tulum, which crystal sparkling water.
Chamico’s - By lunchtime we were all very hungry, so we drove over to a place called Chamico’s a spot I had searched out on Google maps. Just from the photos it looked like a place I needed to go, from the relaxing atmosphere to the amazing fresh seafood. It was just as good as I had imagined. The restaurant was right along the beach, breezy, and the Mexican food was amazing. We had a few plates of ceviche, fried fish, and a shrimp cocktail.
Total price (for 4) - 1,180 MXN ($63.53)
Tulum, Mexico, is a true beach paradise, and it’s an amazing place to visit in Mexico. Thank you for watching!

Unbelievable Mexican Food - FIRE GRILLED MEAT + Cenote and Chichen Itza in Yucatán, Mexico!
Join us on this amazing Mexican food road trip through Yucatan, Mexico!
►SUBSCRIBE for 2 new videos per week:
►T-shirts available now:
We started off in the morning in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, and the plan was to drive all the way to Merida, the capital of Yucatan state. But on the way, we’d stop off to eat some amazing Mexican food, and also visit some attractions in Yucatan like a cenote and Chichen Itza. It turned out to be one of the most amazing days of my Mexico trip - here’s everything we did and ate.
Tacos De Cecina Estilo Yecaixtla - Before leaving Playa Del Carmen, we desperately needed some taco nourishment, and so we stopped at Tacos De Cecina Estilo Yecaixtla, a street food stall that’s known for their beef tacos. I tried a few of their tacos, all of which were outstanding, and overflowing with meat!
Price - 74 MXN ($3.97) for my plate
Cenote X'canché - We drove towards Valladolid, and not too far from there is a cenote known as Cenote X'canché. The hard thing about Yucatan and visiting a cenote is that there are so many to choose from, but since we had a car, I wanted to go to one that was a little more off the beaten path and quiet. It proved to be an amazing experience, so quiet and peaceful.
Entrance - 50 MXN ($2.69), Bicycle ride - 100 MXN ($5.37) per person
La Tía de Kaua - There’s a Mexican food Yucatan dish known as poc chuc, that’s one of the ultimate dishes from the region - usually made of pork marinated and grilled or cooked over a hot fire griddle. In the sleepy town of Kaua, we stopped at La Tía de Kaua for some incredible poc chuc and freshly ground habanero tomato salsa. It was such an insanely delicious meal.
Total price - 300 MXN ($16.11) for 4 adults
Chichén Itzá - Finally, to wrap of the day of Mexican food and attractions in Yucatan, we drove to Chichen Itza. It’s one of the most visited attractions in Mexico and it’s an amazing sight to see. We arrived in the late afternoon, and luckily it wasn’t too busy.
Entrance price - 242 MXN ($13) per person
Mérida - Finally we arrived to Merida at night. Stay tuned for the next Merida street food tour!

The BEST TACOS in Playa del Carmen ????
In this episode we spend the day searching Playa Del Carmen, Mexico to find the best tacos. We hit up four different spots mainly eating El Pastor tacos with a few other types along the way.
El Pastor is made with pork and cooked over a spit, it’s served wit pineapple on top.
We start the hugely popular El Fogon where we try an el pastor and chorizo taco.
Second up is Don Sirloin to try el pastor and chicken tacos.
Next up is Las De Asada where we each have an el pastor taco.
And lastly we head to the local favourite, El Nero to try el pastor and a pork chuleta taco.

Places featured:
El Fogon:
El Fogon is arguably the best authentic Mexican food in Playa del Carmen. The restaurant's specialty is Pastor. Pastor (slow roasted pork) is not available legally in restaurants in the United States because it is not cooked at a high enough temperature. However, in Mexico, this is not an issue. At El Fogon, you can get a pastor taco for the US equivalent of 50 cents. Everything on the menu is delicious and reasonably priced. Four people can leave completely stuffed for less than 30 USD. They also have a great selection of Mexican beers and sodas. There are few restaurants where you can get such amazing food for such a good value. If the locals says it's worth visiting, make it worth your while to try the food.
Don Sirloin:
Six years ago, Playa del Carmen opened it´s doors to a new concept in restaurants, Don Sirloin, with our specialty sirloin tacos.
Using only the best imported sirloin beef, we offer a select variety of presentations, all of which are accompanied by seven different salsas in order to better enjoy this mouth-watering cut of meat.
We are the first to offer a sirloin trompo (large revolving spit) which is marinated in our special house recipe, giving it a special touch of flavor not found in any other restaurants.
Our menu also offers a wide variety of choices, for starters you can enjoy our amazing “Don Charro” beans or a melted cheese pot, followed by an “arrachera”(flank steak), chicken, burritos, or a torta (large Mexican-style sandwich). If meat isn´t quite your thing, our menu also offers veggie options.
La Asada:
The food is excellent as it serves 100% Yucatan Tacos. The speciality is the Pot Chuc. Excellent service and great food. Definitely recommended.
El Nero:
If you want to try the real mexican tacos forget about fancy and expensive restaurants. The locals in Playa go to El Ñero, the tacos there are like in the good taquerías in México City. With a wide variety of meat options, these are hands down the best tacos in Playa del Carmen. Not only are they delicious, they are insanely cheap at only 12 pesos a piece!
