Amazing Korean Food and Attractions in Seoul! (Day 2)
Dongdaemun Grilled Fish Street►
Seoul Travel Guide here►
Day 2 on Seoul turned out to be a great one full day tour of Seoul. We started by visiting a few of the most famous Seoul attractions, had an incredible lunch, and then continued on to visit more attractions and ended with an amazing Korean grilled fish dinner.
00:51 Deoksugung Palace; 1,000 Won ($0.84); City Hall Station, Exit 2. For our first stop for the day, we took the Metro to Deoksugung Palace, which is one of the number of famous Royal palaces in Seoul. It was a nice place to walk around, still pretty quiet in the morning when we got there.
1:54 Gyeongbokgung Palace, Gyeongbokgung Station, Exit 5; Entrance price - 3,000 Won ($2.53). One of the most famous attractions in Seoul is the Gyeongbokgung Palace, and it’s an absolutely huge complex where you can walk around and see the different palaces and temples. We didn't’ have a lot of time, but I did spend a few minutes watching the guards at the front, and then walking around the inner sections of the palace. It’s one of the must visit places in Seoul.
3:46 Bukchon Son Mandu Restaurant (북촌손만두); 35,000 Won for 4 bowls of noodles, 1 combination plate of mandu dumplings for 12,000 Won. Located near to Bukchon Hanok village is a legendary restaurant in Seoul known as Bukchon Son Mandu (북촌손만두). I had eaten there before on a previous trip to Seoul, but at a different location at Insadong. This time we ate at their original location, and they specializes in both mandu dumplings, and bowls of noodles. We ordered a mixed plate of mandu which included both fried and steamed mandu and I got a bowl of mul naengmyeon (랭면), which is a Korean ice cold noodles dish. All the food was delicious. Bukchon Son Mandu is a great place to eat when you’re in Seoul.
9:54 Bukchon Hanok Village; Another one of the top attractions in Seoul is the Bukchon Hanok Village, an old village in the heart of Seoul where you can find traditional buildings and homes and businesses. It has become a bit on the touristy side, but there are many locals that visit, and I think it’s a great place to take a walk and enjoy the atmosphere of Seoul. We also stopped to have a couple skewers of what is one of my favorite Korean street foods, dakkochi, which are grilled chicken skewers.
11:07 Korean Street Food near Dongdaemun Market: In the evening, we took the Metro over to Dongdaemun station and found a small side street to eat some Korean street food snacks. We had tteokbokki, gimbap, and some kind of boiled fish tofu on a stick. All the snacks together came to 7,000 Won ($5.91).
13:18 Dongdaemun Grilled Fish Street: For dinner, we didn’t really have any plans, but we just happen to stumble into what I later found out was the Dongdaemun Grilled Fish Street, because there were at least a half dozen grilled fish restaurants. The restaurant served a number of different types of fish, all salted heavily and grilled. Along with rice and all the banchan sides, it was a Korean food meal I loved.
17:34 Dongdaemun Area: Finally, to end this full one day tour of Korean food and attractions in Seoul, we took a walk around the Dongdaemun area, full of shopping malls and action.
I think it turned out to be a pretty good one day in Seoul!

STREET FOOD NETFLIX - Seoul, South Korea
I did enjoy watching the Street Food Netflix show, especially the amazing cinematography and the amazing stories of the people behind the food. However, there wasn’t much emphasis, if any, on the eating part of the street food. So I happen to be in Seoul for a few days, and I happen to know Dan Gray ( who helped arrange the Seoul Street Food Netflix episode, and so he took us on the same tour, except this time, focused on eating everything.
Here are the places covered in the Street Food Netflix, Korean street food in Seoul episode:
Gwangjang Market - Most of the entire episode was filmed at the famous Gwangjang Market, a market I’ve been to many times, and is a must visit for Korean food lovers in Seoul.
Yoonsun Cho - Gohyang Kalguksu Stall - Most of the Netflix Seoul episode was based around Yoonsun Cho and her incredible kalguksu, hand made knife cut noodles. They were very home-style tasting, very comforting and delicious. She also serves a number of other dishes including nangmyeon, and seaweed noodles, all of which were very good. Her sauce is also amazing, and her kimchi. Price - 5,000 KRW ($4.21) per bowl
Honglim Banchan Stall - Probably the most delicious food on this entire Korean street food tour Netflix episode was the soy marinated crab from Honglim Banchan Stall. The crab was melt in your mouth and the marinade was perfect. Even better is when she scooped out some roe and mixed it with rice in the shell.
Bindae-tteok stall - There’s an entire section of Korean street food dedicated to bindae-tteok at Gwangjang Market. Along with these crispy mung bean pancakes, we also ordered Yukhoe, Korean raw beef with egg and pear. Price - 30,000 KRW ($25.27) total
Dongdaemun Food Street - Finally, the last thing in the Street Food Netflix episode of Seoul was the Baffle, a unique creation of rice made into a waffle, filled and topped with all sorts of interesting things. Price - 4,000 KRW ($3.37)
It was a fun Korean street food tour, and we all had a great time eating and meeting the friendly vendors from the show.

The ULTIMATE Korean STREET FOOD Tour at Namdaemun Market | Seoul, South Korea
My tenth day in South Korea continued as my boy Sam from Samuel & Audrey and I headed off to Namdaemun Market in Seoul to go on the ultimate Korean street food tour! Come along with us as we explore the best of Namdaemun Market!
Namdaemun Market is the oldest and biggest market in all of Korea. It dates back to 1414 and has 10,000 stalls. You can get just about anything there!
We made our way to the heart of the street food area. Our first dish was a hot dog on a stuck that is battered, covered in potatoes, and is deep-fried. It came with four sauces. My first bite was just French fries and batter! It was salty and the spicy sauce had a real kick to it! I also tried a second, sweeter sauce. It wasn’t my favorite, but it’s a good, filling treat to get on the go.
Next to the vendor was a restaurant with lots of bowls, but we wanted to stick to just street food. The prices we saw were reasonable, but there were tons of people in the market. It’s easy to feel claustrophobic with so many people!
We found lots of clothing vendors as we wound our way through the market. I wanted to get my nephews some shirts in a smaller size, but the vendors weren’t very nice to us and didn’t help us at all.
Next, we tried some fried rice cakes, which cost 1,000 won/$0.83 U.S. each. It was tough on the outside but chewy and dense in the middle. It was almost like polenta! It wasn’t bad, but wasn’t great either. It needed some sauce and was pretty bland.
We had trouble finding more street food. There was a lot more retail and it was getting frustrating trying to find some. We headed to an indoor section, down some stairs where Sam had tried gimbap before. It was a lot less crowded down there and was more relaxed.
We found the gimbap with seaweed, rice, carrot, cucumber, and radish. It was really tasty with the spicy sauce, which was wasabi mixed with soy sauce. It was really potent and had a nice crunch with the seaweed and sesame seeds on the outside. I loved that it was filled with veggies. The sauce had a quick burst of heat, and that was it! It cost just 2,000 won/$1.65 U.S. and was a great value for the quality!
Back upstairs, we went to a Korean folkcraft store, where I could see tons of souvenirs. It was like a maze!
Then I found some cool-looking Korean masks. There was an amazing black one that cost 40,000 won/$33 U.S., which I tried on. I passed on it and we headed back outside. You would barely notice the entrance hidden inside the market!
Next, we got some rice cakes. The green one was spongy with powdered peanut on the inside. It was really sweet. I liked it! The white one was also spongy and dense, but I couldn’t make out what the filling was. I liked the other one better. They cost 1,000 won for four, so they’re super affordable!
Next were mandu, which are steamed dumplings. It cost 4,000 won/$3.30 U.S. for five, but we got a discount for four. The reddish mandu contained kimchi and was hot but heavenly! There were also noodles and pork inside. It was the best thing I had all day!
The second mandu was the pork one. It was really hot and felt moist. There were more glass noodles and an abundance of pork! It was beyond amazing!
Next was tteok-bokki. It comes with fish cakes and it all comes in a super spicy, delicious sauce. I ate it almost every day in South Korea. I liked the oden better than the rice cake, but it was all so freaking good! Sweet and spicy! They also gave us some good, fishy oden broth. It cost 2,500 won, or a little over $2 U.S.
We finished up with a green tea latte, which was really refreshing and thick like a smoothie.
What a day! I hope you enjoyed this street food tour of Namdaemun Market. If you did, please give it a thumbs up and leave me a comment. Also, please subscribe to my channel and I’ll see you in the next travel/food adventure.

DIVERSE Korean STREET FOOD Tour on Myeongdong Street | Seoul, South Korea
With another night in Seoul upon me, I met up with my boy Paul from Tastes Seoul Good to head out on an epic and diverse Korean street food tour on Myeongdong Street! Come along with us as we sample some of the most mouthwatering street foods the city of Seoul has to offer!
FEATURED TRAVELER:
Paul (Tastes Seoul Good):
Myeongdong Street is another entertainment district. It’s the shopping capital of Seoul and a mecca for street food. It’s centrally located, so it’s very easy to get to. It’s also very trendy and touristy, but I still couldn’t wait to eat!
My first food was a ball of soybeans and fermented honey that’s stretched and pulled into strands and topped with different toppings. Mine was topped with almonds and was insanely good! The flavor was outstanding! It costs 5,000 won/$4.20 U.S. for 8.
Next was mandu, a pan-fried dumpling with pork and veggies inside. It’s garlicky and full of spring onions. It was so good, and I loved the pork inside. I added some soy sauce, which made it even better! It was also very oily!
There were also samples of many varieties of almonds, including fire chicken flavor, wasabi. We tried a hot one, which wasn’t so hot at first, but it hit me a few seconds later. Then I had the wasabi one, which had a sweetness to it. The third one was so good and was like pop rocks mixed with almonds. It’s the best almost in the world! They were so good that I bought a bag for 6,900 won/$5.80 U.S.
From there, we found a stall selling lots of things I’d tried before, like the sundae and tteok-bokki. I wanted to find something more diverse, so we continued on past lots of shops catering to women and the K-Pop audience.
Next, we found Myeongdong Dakgalbi, which is like a Korean hamburger and has rice cakes on it. It’s smothered in lots of stringy cheese and is torched. The beef was super tender and had light spices on top. It gave it a really nice flavor. It was so bomb! Then I added some spicy sweet & sour sauce. The beef costs 6,000 won/$5.04 U.S. Without cheese, it’s 5,000/$4.20, and the pork is 4,000/$3.36. Then it was Paul’s turn to try it with some cream cheese sauce!
Next up was some gimbap. There were 9 varieties and decided on the one with roe while Paul went with the spicy bulgogi. Mine was so good! It had a tiny bit of spice and I loved the sticky rice! It was full of roe with lots of crunchy seaweed around it. It was fantastic! Paul’s contained pork and looked equally amazing! Usually, the gimbap is 6 for 5,000, but you can also get one for 1,000.
Next, I had some egg bun, which is topped with egg, almonds, peanuts, and sunflower seeds. The bun was sweet and felt custard-like. It was good but very filling! The yolk was fully cooked but my favorite part was the sunflower seeds, which added a whole new flavor!
Next was skewered chicken, which cost 4,000 won/$3.36. You have your choice of 6 sauces. I went with the teriyaki. It was crunchy and juicy and was the best chicken teriyaki ever! Then I tried the spicy sauce, which was like the tteok-bokki sauce and was really hot! The barbecue sauce really helped calm down the heat, but the vendor nearly set himself on fire! Then Paul tried the Hydrogen Bomb, which he says was super spicy!
My mouth was still on fire, so we found a juice stand to put the fire out! My juice was super refreshing and the perfect counter to the heat.
Then we headed to Craft Hans, a bar that sells Korean and international beers and food. It had a nice terrace and a garden. Paul went with a citrusy Weizen, while I went with a Hans IPA, which was hoppy and smooth.
What a night! I hope you enjoyed coming with me and Paul to Myeongdong Street! If you did, please give it a thumbs up, leave me a comment, and subscribe so you don’t miss any of my upcoming travel/food videos!

CHEAP Korean Street Food LUNCH ???? Tongin Market Food Tour in Seoul, South Korea
KOREAN STREET FOOD at a small traditional market in Seoul, South Korea! Visit Tongin Market 통인시장 for the Dosirak Cafe and try delicious traditional Korean street food in a lunchbox!
Follow on instagram:
One of the best places to eat in Seoul for travelers who want to experience eating traditional Korean street food at a Korean market! I have to admit this place is quite touristy now but it was SO MUCH FUN. I've never had a street food market experience like this.
It is a small alley market. Once you walk in you will notice a door opening to a Dosirak Cafe. That is where you can exchange cash for the coins to get street food. You then walk around and fill up your dosirak - Korean lunch box. It is such a fun thing to do in Seoul! I think it was less overwhelming than some of the bigger street food markets like Namdaemun Market. Highly recommend if you're in the area. I saw a lot of kids enjoying the lunchbox experience so if you're traveling with children this will be a good sight to visit on your Seoul trip!
Tongin Market
Address: 18 Jahamun-ro 15-gil, Tongin-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, South Korea
Price: Each box is 5,000 won about $4.19 USD. I got two boxes, total was around $8! I found it cheap for the experience. Food quality varies so you might want to arrive early just to get fresher batches.

We start with tteokbokki- one of Korea’s most popular street foods-rice cakes slathered in gochujang sauce. We head to tteokbokki town where around 10 restaurants specialise in tteokbokki hotpots. Tteokbokki, instant noodles, vegetables, egg and a range of other tasty ingredients are cooked together in a gochujang sauce at the table over a gas cooker.
Our next stop is for Korean BBQ a must eat when you’re visiting Korea! Korean BBQ town is located within Majang Meat Market so the meat is super fresh. We dive into a gigantic Korean BBQ feast of different cuts of beef and all of the accompanying banchan (side dishes).
We finish at Sundae Town! Sundae is Korean blood sausage- it’s made up of pig’s blood and cellophane noodles and is cooked at the table in various styles. We eat baek sundae or “white sundae” made up of sundae, various vegetables and noodles- the specialty of Sundae Town!
Where we ate:
Tteokbokki town, 서울특별시 중구 신당동 다산로33길 10-18. Open lunch and dinner.
Restaurant in Korean BBQ town, 761-8, Majang-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul. Open in the evening.
Ttsuni Sundae at Sundae town, 서울특별시 관악구 신림동 1640-31. Open 24 hours.

Traditional KOREAN STREET FOOD Tour of Tongin Market | Seoul, South Korea
My fifth full day in South Korea was one for the books, as my boy Sam and I were finally able to properly explore the mouthwatering world of Korean street food in Seoul! But first, we visited an awesome local museum! Come along with us as we learn about modern-day Korea and eat our way through Tongin Market! Let’s go!
FEATURED TRAVELER:
Sam:
Our fifth morning in South Korea continued at the Cheongwadae Sarangchae Museum, where the exhibits are all about modern-day Korea. There was a display of all of the Korean presidents from 1948 to 2017, which is called the Wall of Presidents. The first one served for 12 years! Below each president’s picture is a list of their accomplishments. It was fascinating!
In the next room was a bright display showing photos of the must-visit tourist spots in South Korea. There are lots of beautiful rural areas that neither of us knew about! Across from it was an interactive, multi-lingual map that has lots of information about locations around the country, including markets!
There was also a display about Korean street food! On the second floor is a special exhibit called Dear Korea, which is about the Democratic movement and the protests and stages that got Korea to where it is today. We learned about the Blue House!
Then, we walked to the Tongin Market, which dates back to 1941 and has 75 stalls and shops! I couldn’t wait to check it out. We only had 80 minutes to explore! It was a covered market that reminded me of Nishiki Market in Kyoto.
There were lots of fruits and vegetables and butchers selling meat. I even saw bakeries and seaweed! But we were looking for the street food and found some in the form of kimchi-jeon, which is a type of Korean pancake! It only cost us $1!
I love kimchi and pancakes and it did not disappoint! It was the most delicious pancake of all time! It was spicy and I loved the crunch and the moistness!
While I was eating, I met some new fans and got them to subscribe!
Next, we found 20 types of kimchi and a long gimbap filled with vegetables. It costs 1,000 won for one, or about $1 each. They contain seaweed, rice, and vegetables like onion and carrot. It was very crunchy, with little rice, some pork or beef, and lots of yummy veggies. I loved how fresh and healthy it was!
Next was one of my favorite Korean street food dishes, tteok-bokki. They’re spicy, stir-fried rice cakes that are covered in a rich, red sauce. They were nice and chewy, with the consistency of a mochi, but not sweet. I could eat this all day! It cost 3,000 won, or a little under $3 USD.
Our next stop was to get some fried chicken with sweet and sour sauce. It looks spicy because the sauce is red, but it’s not at all. It tastes so fresh and was like organic popcorn chicken. I was in love with it! I would have loved some spice on it, but it was still amazing.
Then we had some oden, or hot pot, which is one of my favorite things to eat in China and Japan. This one was a spongy fish cake, which tasted a lot like fish balls. It cost only 500 won, or $0.50 for one! It was so good!
Next, I had a traditional rice drink called Sikhye, which has grains in the bottom and is similar to sugarcane juice. It costs 1,000 won, or about $1 USD. It was so refreshing and sweet and perfect on a hot day!
Next was hotteok, a Korean pancake with honey and pine nuts. It’s super hot and greasy. It was oozing out and so sweet. I’m a big honey guy, and the outside was crispy while the rest was soft. I loved it!
What an amazing traditional market! My favorite was the tteok-bokki. They were so fire!
I hope you enjoyed coming with me on my Tongin Market adventure! If you did, please give it a thumbs up and leave me a comment below. Also please subscribe so you don’t miss any of my upcoming travel/food videos!
