Harmony Village Cohousing Community - Golden, Colorado
Harmony Village, at the time of this recording, consisted of 27 households containing 47 adults and 15 children aging in range from 1 to 81 years.
Located in Golden, Colorado Harmony Village features Santa Fe style, energy efficient, clustered dwellings with common facilities and open space. The community's mission is To create a cooperative neighborhood of diverse individuals sharing human resources within an ecologically responsible community setting.
Planning for Harmony Village started in April, 1992 when they held their first formal meeting. By 1997 all 27 homes and other structures had been completed on the 5.5 acres of property they had acquired.

Denver the largest city and the capital of the U.S. state of Colorado. Denver is also the second most populous county in Colorado after El Paso County. Denver is a consolidated city and county located in the South Platte River Valley on the western edge of the High Plains just east of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. The Denver downtown district is located immediately east of the confluence of Cherry Creek with the South Platte River, approximately 12 miles (19 km) east of the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.

Redding Bicycle Path & Trail System
The long awaited auto, pedestrian and bicycle byway from the Mt. Shasta Mall and Dana Drive to downtown Redding is finally complete. Google satelite image the Sacramento River in the center of Redding, CA and find the 44/299 West freeway span. It is the most northern freeway that crosses the river in the center of town. Now view both sides. On the east, you find the Hilltop Drive area with all manner of fine dining and hotels. On the west side is Turtle Bay, the Sundial Bridge, Civic Auditorium and Convention Center, and last but not least, Paul Bunyon Kids Camp. All great places to visit in the heart of the Golden Circle of Shasta County. Don't worry about gas, go any direction. A tip about food is San Francisco Deli on Athens Ave not far from the Bridge. Try the pastrami sangweech. Yummy! There are park tables just north of the Sundial Bridge parking lot, so explore the roadway on the far side of the main parking lot. When crossing over the Sundial Bridge, take the bike path to the right and ride to Hilltop Drive ( Big uphill, but the view of the city is worth it) And if you want, you can ride Hilltop back to the Mt. Shasta Mall where this video started.

Steve Griggs's love of art started early in life. While other children would lament field trips to the art museum, that was his favourite day of the school year! Steve's mother bought his first 'real' watercolor set of six tubes of paint, when he was in elementary school and his love of watercolor was born. Growing up in a large family made finding time and space for painting difficult. Whenever possible Steve would steal away to the basement of his childhood home where he would paint but never show anyone what he had done. Steve remained a 'closet artist' until he attended Michigan State University and graduated with a degree in Studio Art. Steve later attended Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California and studied Industrial Design. It wasn't until 2005 that Steve began to paint professionally, showing his paintings in galleries and juried art exhibitions. He currently has signature membership with Rocky Mountain National Watermedia Society and Colorado Watercolor Society.
Steve Griggs's earliest influences and inspirations came from the Great Lakes region where he grew up. Throughout his lifetime he has been enamored of boats. Sailing vessels, lake freighters, military frigates; any type of boat has captured his imagination. Although Steve has resided in Colorado for many years, his paintings often reflect his love of the Great Lakes, fostered by frequent trips to his hometown near Detroit, Northern Michigan, and Wisconsin.
In addition to boats, Steve also paints landscapes and cityscapes. Steve frequently displays and sells work in local, state, regional, national, and international exhibitions and galleries. He offers workshops, demonstrations, and salons, as well as individual and small group painting lessons to help other artists understand and learn his unique style. Steve's students range from the very inexperienced artist to the professional painter. His paintings can be found on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Steve Griggs currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Colorado Watercolor Society and continues his early love of art.

Horsetooth Mountain - In A Colorado Minute (Week 180)
- Overlooking the city of Fort Collins is the distinct Horsetooth Rock atop Horsetooth Mountain in the foothills of the Colorado Front Range. As you see the rock formation from below, the appropriateness of the name is clear. It's even more impressive from up close.
So this week, on a gorgeous and hot autumn day, I hiked around Horsetooth Open Space along lovely trails. Our dog Whiskey was a real trooper on this 6-hour hike. She seemed to love clambering up and down the boulders, sniffing around to her heart's content and didn't seem scared at all as we looked down from the top of the mountain to the valley and Horsetooth Reservoir below and the peaks of the Rocky Mountains out west. Of course, her favorite part must have been the pool below Horsetooth Falls, which she jumped into immediately.
My favorite part besides the astonishing nature was meeting all the hikers enjoying this lovely Sunday. Locals, tourists, other hikers with dogs and especially this one woman, who makes vaccines for dogs, taught me a few more things about interactions with dogs and who let me film her climb up the actual teeth (something I couldn't do with the dog, the camera, the tripod and my big bag). Next time!
