Fort Caspar was a military post of the United States Army in present-day Wyoming, named after 2nd Lieutenant Caspar Collins, a U.S. Army officer who was killed in the 1865 Battle of the Platte Bridge Station against the Lakota and Cheyenne. Originally founded in 1859 along the banks of the North Platte River as a trading post and toll bridge on the Oregon Trail, the post was later taken over by the Army and named Platte Bridge Station to protect emigrants and the telegraph line against raids from Lakota and Cheyenne in the ongoing wars between those nations and the United States. The site of the fort, near the intersection of 13th Street and Wyoming Boulevard in Casper, Wyoming, is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and is now owned and operated by the City of Casper as the Fort Caspar Museum and Historic Site.

Fort Caspar Wyoming
Hey you guys! Thanks for joining me on another journey. I am at Fort Caspar, Casper, Wyoming with Alvin & Amy. It's a pretty cool 1865 military post that has been reconstructed. They got a kick out of seeing what the inside of a teepee is like. We checked out what the trading post would've looked like back in the 1800s. We also saw what the blacksmith's shop would've looked like at the time. The Captain's quarters were pretty nice, compared to where the soldiers bunked in the barracks/mess hall. It was interesting to learn that soldiers slept two to a bed. The Commissary is where the soldiers picked up all of their supplies, such as ammunition, uniforms and simple food stores. Every man was only given a certain amount of money for his rations, so if he wanted more, he had to use his personal money. I enjoyed learning the difference between the Signal Corp unit (blue) and the Calvary unit (gold--crossed swords) and the Infantry unit (rifles). Blue was the Communications unit with the bugle on their hats and Red was the Artillery unit(crossed cannons). And I loved the old wagons; see some of my other videos for more of my fascination with antiques! Thank you for living life...

Wyoming Pioneer Museum
Open year'round, the Pioneer Memorial Museum is located on the Wyoming State Fairgrounds in Douglas, Wyoming. The museum collects, preserves, interprets and displays historical and cultural materials related to the westward expansion, to Wyoming pioneers in particular and the west in general.
The first pioneer meetings began in 1884. Members had to be 21 years of age and either a resident of or doing business in Wyoming Territory prior to July 1, 1884. They began to meet annually in Douglas during the first Wyoming State Fair in 1905. The roster included cowboys, stockmen, freighters and soldiers. There were men and women who played an important role in achieving statehood for Wyoming. The Wyoming Pioneer Association was incorporated on January 8, 1926. Today the Wyoming Pioneer Association acts as an advisory board to the museum and has statewide and national membership. The State of Wyoming is responsible for the museum's operation and maintenance. Wyoming State Parks, Historic Sites and Trails is celebrating its' 75th Anniversary. wyoparks.org.

Casper, Wyoming 1940 (Silent film)
Shot on color and black and white 8mm movie film between 1938 and 1941 by my father. Mostly in and around Casper , Wyoming. There are shots of kids riding their bikes on the ice while others ice skate. You can see the town high school Natrona County High School. Also various scenic panoramas of mountains, hills and valleys. There are historic cabins, rustic shacks and his neighborhood in snow. A parade shows mounted riders, veterans, bands, Shriners and the Salvation Army. Plus scenes of cattle, horses and fishing. After retiring, his father became a shepard and we see him herding his flock.
Richard Young, curator of the Fort Casper Museum was nice enough to identify some of the scenes.
At about 3:18 -- this is the Bison Service Station, located at Durbin and Second Street.
6:25 looks like the Red Buttes area
7:50 is Independence Rock
9:17 is Fort Caspar
9:43 -- The area around the dam looks like it is Seminoe Dam

Further help in identifying places would be appreciated.
