A Tour of Fort Flagler on Marrowstone Island, WA
Fort Flagler State Park is a really cool area to go explore history and architecture. The park rests on a high bluff overlooking Puget Sound, with views of the Olympic and Cascade Mountains. Many historic buildings remain at this old military fort.

The video starts at the beach playground area and goes to Rat Island and then up to the north side of Marrowstone Island (where Fort Flagler is located) where Battery Wilhelm and Battery Bankhead are located.
It's a nice campsite.

Tame Deer at Fort Flagler on Marrowstone Island, WA During American Banjo Camp 2012
This video was taken during the weekend of the American Banjo Camp at Fort Flager on Marrowstone Island, WA, Sept. 6-9, 2012. These deer wandered freely on the grounds near cars, buildings, and people, although when a leashed dog appeared I saw them bounding off, making long graceful leaps. (not shown here)
There were several old and knarled apple and plum trees with fruit hanging and also falling on the ground, so that bounty proved irresistable to the deer. To one of the twin fawns in this family, Mama Doe's milk seems just as irresistable, but watch how the fawn's attempts to nurse are squelched with a gentle kick. Maybe she is trying to make him (or her) realize that they are weaned.
You can see a child trying to feed them an apple, and you can hear someone practicing a fiddle tune in the background.
Fort Flagler State Park
Fort Flagler State Park is one of the most beautiful parks on the Olympic Peninsula. It would be a wonderful day trip if you are staying in Sequim, but I've been fortunate to stay overnight at Fort Flagler on most President's Day Weekends over the last decade. That's because my church rents one of the historic army barracks for that weekend each year. I've had many wonderful memories; strolling, hiking, exploring, or just sitting on the bluff enjoying the expansive view of Puget Sound. More at
