Celebrate with us as Fort Ligonier Days enters its 60th year in 2019. The 3-day fall festival commemorates the Battle of Fort Ligonier, a key engagement of the French and Indian War fought on October 12, 1758.
Fort Ligonier Days is proud to announce the the return of the University of Pittsburgh Marching Band as parade participants.
The Pitt Band is one of the greatest traditions that the University of Pittsburgh has to offer. As the largest and most visible student organization on campus, Pitt Band is dedicated to excellence in marching and musical performance, promoting spirit on and off campus, and providing a compelling experience for all of its members.
Ligonier is a borough in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,573 at the 2010 census.[3] Ligonier was settled in the 1760s. The borough is well known for nearby Idlewild Park, one of the oldest amusement parks in the country; and nearby Seven Springs Mountain Resort. Another tourist attraction is Fort Ligonier Days, a parade and craft market that takes place every fall over the course of three days, and the Ligonier Country Market in the summer months. Ligonier is part of the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Statistical Area..

We had so much footage from our time at the Fort Ligonier Days Parade that we weren't able to use in our previous video, that we knew we just had to put together a super cut of our footage to share. We have shots of pretty much all of the parade, with some live narration, and of course all the wonderful sights and sounds of the marching bands.

A cruise along the Lincoln Highway/ US Route 30, Eastbound from Latrobe PA to Fort Ligonier in Westmoreland County. We pass scenic Chestnut Ridge, Loyalhanna Creek, and Idlewild Park.
The nations first transcontinental highway is a particularly scenic cruise in the Pittsburgh Metro area and Westmoreland County.

Panoramic Maps, also known as Bird's Eye View, aerial view, or perspective maps. These were a popular form of art at the turn of the 20th century depicting a city's key points of interest.
Unlike traditional maps, Panoramic maps often highlighted the commercial aspects of a town, while also clearly showing many local residences.
I've had a lot fun looking up places I've been to on these maps -- and I've gotta say - It's amazing just how much things change -- and also how much things stay the same.

Reenactment of Battle of Fort Ligonier
The Battle reenactment of Fort Ligonier on October 11, 2012 including recognition of the actor portraying the 11th Earl and chief of Clan Montgomery in his rank of Colonel and commander of the British 77th Foot Highlanders Regiment, receiving an award for 35 years of dedicated service to the reenactment community in the United States. I was able to speak with him at length after the reenactment as one of my posted videos details.

FORT LIGONIER DAYS 2016 is Almost Here!
Fort Ligonier Days is one of the best fall events of the season and it kicks off in just few days! And this year is extra special because it marks the 25 year anniversary of Smail Auto Group's kind support and 25 years for WTAE-TV Pittsburgh's own Sally Wiggin WTAE as part of the famous parade through the Ligonier Diamond! Missy Moreno teamed up with Smail's Digital creator David Fedor to visit the amazing Fort Ligonier and witnessed a special award presentations to the Smail family from the Fort Ligonier Days committee! This is an amazing event you dont want to miss!
