☑ Nashville Zoo at Grassmere
A 200-acre (81 ha) zoo and historic plantation farmhouse located 6 miles (9.7 km) southeast of downtown. Was founded in 1996, , the result of a merger between two competing facilities, The Nashville Zoo and Grassmere Wildlife Park.
☑ Cheekwood Botanical Garden
A privately funded 55-acre (22 ha) estate on the western edge of the city. Formerly the residence of Nashville's Cheek family, the 30,000-square-foot (2,800 m2) Georgian-style mansion was opened as a museum in 1960.
☑ Centennial Park
A large urban park located approximately two miles (three km) west of downtown. On November 11, 2005, Centennial Park became Nashville's first wireless internet park by offering free Wi-Fi internet access to park patrons.
☑ Parthenon
A full-scale replica of the original Parthenon in Athens. It was built in 1897 as part of the Tennessee Centennial Exposition. Today functions as an art museum. The Parthenon's permanent collection is a group of 63 paintings by 19th- and 20th-century American artists.

A renovated plantation barn that houses a collection of 19th and 20th century home and farm artifacts. Outside there are log cabins, a small farm house, kitchen herb garden, perennial garden and nature trail is also part of the museum tour.
☑ Harpeth River State Park
A state park in Cheatham County. Is a linear park that was created to connect several state historic, natural, and archaeological sites along the lower Harpeth River.
☑ Mount Olivet Cemetery
A 250-acre (100 ha) cemetery. Serves as the final resting place for many of Middle Tennessee's political and business leaders, including several former governors of Tennessee, U.S. Senators, and U.S. Congressional Representatives.

A historical plantation and museum located in Davidson County. The plantation was owned by Andrew Jackson, the seventh President of the United States, from 1804 until his death at the Hermitage in 1845.

Nashville is the capital of the U.S. state of Tennessee and home to Vanderbilt University. Legendary country music venues include the Grand Ole Opry House, home of the famous “Grand Ole Opry” stage and radio show. The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and historic Ryman Auditorium are Downtown, as is the District, featuring honky-tonks with live music and the Johnny Cash Museum, celebrating the singer's life.
For country-music fans and wannabe songwriters all over the world, a trip to Nashville is the ultimate pilgrimage. Since the 1920s the city has been attracting musicians, who have taken the country genre from the ‘hillbilly music’ of the early 20th century to the slick ‘Nashville sound’ of the 1960s to the punk-tinged alt-country of the 1990s.
Nashville's many musical attractions range from the Country Music Hall of Fame to the revered Grand Ole Opry to Jack White’s niche record label. It also has a lively university community and a blistering hot restaurant scene.
The Country Music Hall of Fame in downtown Nashville traces the history of country music while museums dedicated to Johnny Cash, George Jones and Willie Nelson delve into their personal stories. The weekly country music show the Grand Ole Opry, first broadcast on a Nashville radio station, celebrated its 90th birthday in 2015.
The music scene today is as vibrant as ever: seven days a week the neon lights and beer-perfumed air of Lower Broadway draw crowds of grinning music lovers into its rumbling honky-tonks, while just to the south the vast undulating roof of Music City Center imprints a giant guitar shape onto the skyline. The Grand Ole Opry wows guests at Opryland and Ryman Auditorium, while hordes of country music fans descend on the city for the CMA Music Festival, featuring live performances by today's biggest stars. The country-music television drama Nashville filmed in and around the city for four seasons beginning in 2011.
If you need a break from bachelorette party shenanigans or a boring convention panel, step outside for natural distractions aplenty. An ever-growing network of pedestrian and bike-friendly greenways links Nashville's city parks, which unfurl over rolling hills and lush riparian landscapes. B-Cycle bike-rental stations are conveniently placed at greenway trailheads. Nature and outdoor centers inside the larger parks offer kid-friendly activities and nature walks. In total, the city park system sprawls across more than 12,000 acres in 108 parks. Kayaking and canoeing trips on the gentle Harpeth River are well-suited to families.

Fort Negley Reaches 155 Year Milestone
Saturday marked 155 years since the construction of Fort Negley, a Union stronghold in the Civil War-era that was built by conscripted African Americans. Historians said they believe there were 2,771 men and women who helped construct the fort. Even though they were promised pay, many were forced to work in harsh conditions.

The Battle of Nashville was a two-day battle in the Franklin-Nashville Campaign that represented the end of large-scale fighting west of the coastal states in the American Civil War. It was fought at Nashville, Tennessee, on December 15–16, 1864, between the Confederate Army of Tennessee under Lieutenant General John Bell Hood and Federal forces under Major General George H. Thomas. In one of the largest victories achieved by the Union Army during the war, Thomas attacked and routed Hood's army, largely destroying it as an effective fighting force.

A proposal brought forward to the city of Nashville would drastically change the area where Greer Stadium sits, changing the area from a stadium that has sat empty for more than two years to a place where will would be able to live, work, and play.

Nashville is a fun city for both kids and adults. There are several Nashville parks, playgrounds and museums that kids will love visiting. Kids are very active most of the time so they need to be able to burn some of their energy off. There are some great places for kids in Nashville to do that. Here are a few things for you to consider when visiting Nashville.
Feed the ducks at Centennial Park. The Nashville Parthenon is located in Centennial Park so you get a to see one of the famous Nashville tourist attractions as well. There is also a playground in the park. Be sure to take some bread or crackers for the ducks.
Take a scenic train ride on an old train. The Tennessee Central Railway Museum has train rides with themes. Sometimes they have a mystery or a train robbery. The Easter Bunny, Thomas the Train and Santa also visit the museum from time to time. It is important to plan this well in advanced because they only make about 20 train trips a year.
Visit one of the outdoor water parks in Nashville. It is a great way to cool down during the summer. Wave Country is a smaller water park and it is usually not as crowded as Nashville shores. Both water parks are a lot of fun.
Go to a Nashville Sounds baseball game. Baseball is always fun and kids can usually meet the team mascot, Ozzie after the game. Here is a tip for you. Plan an extra hour into the schedule. Greer Stadium is right next door to Fort Negley Park, a civil war battlefield and it is free to see. It will take about an hour unless you decide to watch the films about it then you better plan for two hours.
Kids and adults both will enjoy a trip to the Nashville Zoo. There is a petting zoo and a portion of the zoo that has farm animals. There is also a large playground. you can spend the whole day there and have a wonderful time.
During the fall months take the kids to a corn maze. These are seasonal events but they are lots of fun. Most of them have several activities for the kids. Usually there are hay mazes for the little ones and they get to pick out and paint a pumpkin at most of the cor mazes.
As you can see there plenty of fun things for kids and adults when you visit Nashville. Most of this is budget friendly as well. Plan your day out with the kids soon and have fun.

Nashville is the capital and most populous city of the U.S. state of Tennessee. The city is the county seat of Davidson County and is located on the Cumberland River. The city's population ranks 24th in the U.S. According to 2017 estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau, the total consolidated city-county population stood at 691,243. The balance population, which excludes semi-independent municipalities within Davidson County, was 667,560 in 2017.Located in northern Middle Tennessee, Nashville is the major city of the largest metropolitan area in Tennessee. The city grew quickly due to its strategic location as a port on the Cumberland River and, in the 19th century, a railroad center. Nashville seceded with Tennessee during the American Civil War; in 1862 it was the first state capital in the Confederacy to fall to Union troops. After the war, the city reclaimed its position and developed a manufacturing base.
Since 1963, Nashville has had a consolidated city-county government, which includes six smaller municipalities in a two-tier system. The city is governed by a mayor, a vice-mayor, and a 40-member metropolitan council; 35 of the members are elected from single-member districts, while the other five are elected at-large.
