The Fort Peck Summer Theatre is one of those Montana bucket-list items. If you haven't made the trip to Northeastern Montana- you are missing out.
This summer the theatre celebrates their 50th Anniversary, but, in reality, the theatre's history goes back much further- to the 1930's and the days building the Fort Peck Dam.
Christen Etchart and her family have performed in and supported the theatre for years. She joined us recently on our statewide radio talk show, Montana Talks with Aaron Flint, to give us a preview of the 50th Anniversary festivities. Click below to listen:

Fort Peck Photos of the Paranormal
These pictures were taken at the famed, Fort Peck hotel in Fort Peck montana. For Peck was a city built to house people working for work as miners, blasters, and building the largest man made dam in the United States. This was no ordinary dam however, it is a hill dam. What this means is that there is no machinery inside it, only a large iron wall holding the top of the dam in place while the water goes through channels to turn a turbine elsewhere in the city.
Many people died working on the mines, one incident killed 8 people. The dam had eroded from the water before it was finished. This caused a slide that crushed 8 men to their deaths, and wounded many more. The screams of those men can still be heard.

Minnesota to Montana, GoPro
We took three days to get from Minnesota to Montana. This is a quick recap starting in the nice little town of Ely and a visit to some of the nearby sights. We stopped at the center of North America in North Dakota which I knew nothing about but found quite interesting. Our camp in Montana is on the north east part of the state at Fort Peck Reservoir.
