Georges Island is one of the islands in the Boston Harbor, situated just over 7 miles (11 km) from downtown Boston. The island has a permanent size of 39 acres (160,000 m2), plus an intertidal zone of a further 14 acres (57,000 m2), and rises to a height of 50 feet (15 m) above sea level. Historic Fort Warren is on the island. Because of this, and since a ferry operates from Boston to the island, it is a popular destination and one of the easiest islands to access in the Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area. -Wiki

“Not long after New Orleans officials removed four Confederate statues that many viewed as symbols of racism and hatred this summer, Governor Charlie Baker voiced his desire to remove Massachusetts’s only Confederate memorial, located near Fort Warren on Georges Island.
It’s an effort that has proven easier said than done.
The memorial, erected in 1963 by the United Daughters of the Confederacy, has been boarded up since June 16 as the Department of Conservation and Recreation and Massachusetts Historical Commission determine what to do with it.
State officials say the process of removal or relocation is under greater scrutiny because of Fort Warren’s designation as a national historic landmark. Meanwhile, the headstone commemorating 13 Confederate soldiers who died while imprisoned at Fort Warren during the Civil War remains on a grassy slope near the visitor center, its future unclear.”

The Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area is a National Recreation Area situated among the islands of Boston Harbor of Boston, Massachusetts. The area is made up of a collection of islands, together with a former island and a peninsula, many of which are open for public recreation and some of which are very small and best suited for wildlife. The area is run by the Boston Harbor Islands Partnership. It includes the Boston Harbor Islands State Park, managed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Twenty-one of the 34 islands in the area are also included in the Boston Harbor Islands Archeological District.
Attractions include hiking trails, beaches, the Civil War-era Fort Warren on Georges Island and Boston Light on Little Brewster Island, the oldest lighthouse in the United States. Georges Island and Spectacle Island are served seasonally by ferries to and from Boston, connecting on weekends and summer weekdays with a shuttle boat to several other islands, Hull, and Hingham.In 1996, there was a project proposal by Boston's mayor Tom Menino and Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor Clifford A. Goudey to revitalize the aquaculture and fish population in Boston Harbor. This would have involved using the old tanks and granite canals on Moon Island.In 2008, Peddocks Island was used for filming scenes in Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island.

-Quantum Octane 6'6 medium heavy action rod with an Abu Garcia silver max and 30lb braided line, connected to a 27lb 9 steel leader.
***The rod and reel I was using is a cheap setup, and I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. I only use it at the river in case something happens, I'd rather break that than an expensive rod/reel.
The American Revolution: Accounts of April 19th, 1775.
On the 19th of April, 1775, tensions between the American Colonists and the King's Troops reached a sharp breaking point in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Awoken by Paul Revere's alarm warning of the imminent arrival of British Regulars on the march from Boston to the nearby town of Concord, Lexington Minutemen assembled on their village green, . The marching Regulars paused, drawing up in formation in front of the Minutemen. An unknown shot rang out and chaos ruled stronger than King George. A long day would follow filled with misunderstandings, conflicts, and attempts for a peace that was not to be found. The American Revolutionary War had officially begun.

The Town of Watertown is a city in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 32,986 at the 2000 census.
Watertown, first known as Saltonstall Plantation, was one of the earliest of the Massachusetts settlements. It was begun early in 1630 by a group of settlers led by Sir Richard Saltonstall and the Rev. George Phillips and officially incorporated that same year. The alternate spelling Waterton is seen in some early documents.
The first buildings were upon land now included within the limits of Cambridge known as Gerry's Landing. For its first quarter century Watertown ranked next to Boston in population and area. Since then its limits have been greatly reduced. Thrice portions have been added to Cambridge, and it has contributed territory to form the new towns of Weston (1712), Waltham (1738), Belmont (1859), and Lincoln (1754). In 1632 the residents of Watertown protested against being compelled to pay a tax for the erection of a stockade fort at Cambridge; this was the first protest in America against taxation without representation and led to the establishment of representative government in the colony
