Aircraft History
The Fort Worth Aviation Museum’s F-111E was Air Force serial number 68-0009. It was constructed by General Dynamics (c/n A1-178, E-19) here in Fort Worth, Texas. It is there where it received it’s nickname “Balls 9” as the Air Force serial number depicts zeros and a “9.” It was accepted by the Air Force on November 10, 1969. It was first assigned to the 27th Tactical Fighter Wing, Tactical Air Command, at Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico. It was then assigned to the 20th Tactical Fighter Wing Gamblers,” US Air Forces Europe, beginning in January 1971. It carried the tail code UH as it was based at RAF Upper Heyford, Great Britain, for just over 21 years. During this time, the aircraft was seen in the markings of the 77th Tactical Fighter Squadron (TFS) and possibly the 79th TFS.
After retirement, “Balls 9” was transferred to AMARC as FV0093 on May 11, 1992, for storage. It remained in “the Boneyard” in Tucson, Arizona, until 2003. A museum in Connecticut acquired it but soon went out of business and “Balls 9” languished until 2007. The Fort Worth Aviation Museum discovered the aircraft in a salvage yard. With help from the B-36 Peacemaker Museum this aircraft was brought home to Fort Worth in 2008.

DinoLand in the DinoLabs Theater at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History
The DinoLand installation at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History offers multiple layers of interaction. Visitors enter the theater space to find a prehistoric scene projected on a large wall. The scene is intended to be playful and appealing to a younger audience, and evokes the aesthetic of paper dolls, dioramas, puppetry, and origami.
Visitors get creative, using crayons or other media to fill in coloring pages that offer a selection of dino species. Using HP Sprouts for our scanning stations, visitors bring their creations to the scanners to capture the coloring pages. This application sends the colorful dinos into the projected scene where they fly and walk around, fully animated.

Over the past four years, U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor has handed Texas major wins in several high-profile Texas v. United States lawsuits.
And it doesn’t seem to be a coincidence that those cases landed in his court. The North Texas judge has emerged as something of a favorite for the Texas Attorney General’s Office, a notoriously litigious legal battalion known for challenging the federal government in cases and controversies across the country.
Since 2015, almost half of challenges to the federal government that Texas filed in district courts here landed in O’Connor’s courtroom, attorney general’s office records show. He is one of several dozen federal judges of his rank in the state.
Active in the conservative Federalist Society, O’Connor is a former aide to U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, and a former federal prosecutor in North Texas who has been rumored to be on the short list for a promotion to a federal appeals court. O’Connor, a 2007 appointee of President George W. Bush, worked in relative obscurity until 2015, when Texas’ litigation force began to frequent his courtroom. Since then, he’s earned a reputation as a no-nonsense conservative darling.
