How to Visit Philadelphia with an RV: Liberty, Cheesesteaks, and Rocky - Traveling Robert
We find an unusual RV Park in the middle of Philadelphia. We see many of the obligatory historic sites including a bucket list visit to the Independence Hall. We join long time viewer Rob, from South Philly, and he shows us his home town from his own perspective, including eating some authentic Philly cheesesteak. We also follow in Rocky Balboa's footsteps, literally and climb the steps of the Art Museum. We finally get a panoramic view of the city from the Liberty One Observation Deck.

The Truth About George Washington
George Washington was unanimously elected as the first president of the United States of America after winning the American Revolutionary War as the Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army.
Washington was first called Father of his Country three years after the beginning of the Revolutionary War – a status he earned not only for his military accomplishments, but also because of the numerous virtues he was perceived to possess as a human being.
But within Washington's impeccable character, one quality stood out the most – a unique immunity to the corrupting effects of power, which stemmed from his selfless nature. I often say of George Washington that he was one of the few in the whole history of the world who was not carried away by power, stated Robert Frost, America's great poet-philosopher.
After overthrowing the tyranny of the British Empire, Americans were unwilling to trust anyone with the power of a central government, yet in George Washington they saw a man who had transcended human fallibility. Had he lived in the days of idolatry, the Pennsylvania Journal noted in 1777, Washington would have been worshipped as a god.
How could such a man ever abuse his power, let alone become a tyrant? Furthermore, if men like Washington exist and can be elected into power, perhaps the United States government would never follow in the footsteps of the hated British Empire.
Does the mortal George Washington live up to his immortal legend? What is the Truth About George Washington?

Gloria Ladson-Billings It’s ALL de jure: Turning a critical eye on the Northern Strategy
6th Annual Edmund Gordon Lecture
American public education is failing black and brown children, and “not because of some person or some political party gone awry,” but because “this disparity is baked into our society,” Gloria Ladson-Billings told an overflow audience in Teachers College’s Cowin Auditorium on Monday. “It is in our laws, our policies, our rules, our ordinances, our customs and our processes. And we must be willing to admit this reality.”
Ladson-Billings, Professor Emerita and former Kellner Family Distinguished Professor in Urban Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, delivered her talk – titled “It’s ALL de jure: Turning a critical eye on the Northern Strategy” – on the opening day of the Teachers College Reimagining Education Summer Institute, now in its fourth year.
Ladson Billings, known for her work in the fields of culturally relevant pedagogy and critical race theory, devoted much of her talk to demonstrating that northern states have been as complicit as their southern counterparts in maintaining racial inequity, from supporting and profiting from slavery through business dealings with the South to codifying discrimination in post-World War II housing law to creating a two-tiered public education system in the wake of Brown v. Board of Education, the 1954 Supreme Court decision that struck down legalized school segregation.

JOHN DICKINSON - WikiVidi Documentary
John Dickinson , a Founding Father of the United States, was a solicitor and politician from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Wilmington, Delaware known as the Penman of the Revolution for his twelve Letters from a Farmer in Pennsylvania, published individually in 1767 and 1768. As a member of the First Continental Congress, where he was a signee to the Continental Association, Dickinson drafted most of the 1774 Petition to the King, and then as a member of the Second Continental Congress wrote the 1775 Olive Branch Petition, two attempts to negotiate with King George III of Great Britain. When these failed, he reworked Thomas Jefferson's language and wrote the final draft of the 1775 Declaration of the Causes and Necessity of Taking Up Arms. When Congress then decided to seek independence, Dickinson served on the committee that wrote the Model Treaty, and then wrote the first draft of the 1776–1777 Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union. Dickinson later served as President of ...

My Slideshow St. John's Episcopal Church in, Ashland, PA 17921 Celebrating Over 150 Years
St. John's, Ashland, PA 17921 Celebrating Over 150 Years!
On Nov. 22, 1855 a small group of Ashland Residents petitioned the Rt. Rev. Alonzo Potter, D.D., Bishop of the Episcopal Church of Pennsylvania to organize an Episcopal Church in Ashland. St. John's was the first church of any denomination in Ashland. On April 1, 1856 St. John's was formally established at a meeting at the Brock Estate. The Brocks donated the land where the church still stands between 12th and 13th and Market and Arch Streets.
The cornerstone was laid on September 14, 1856 and on January 15, 1857; the Rev. J.J. Bartlett of Gloucester, NJ was installed as rector. The church was completed in the spring of 1859. It was originally known as Memorial Church of Saint John. The church boasts having an organ that is over 180 years old. It was built in 1824-25 by Thomas Appleton of Boston, a leading 19th century master of that trade. Few others like it exist. It was originally built for Beneficial Congregational Church in Providence, R.I. where it was dedicated in 1825. In 1884, the women of St. John's purchased the organ from the Roosevelt Organ Company of New York. This organ served the parish until 1971 when it underwent restoration work by James R. McFarland of Selinsgrove, financed by a gift from the estate of Elsie Cooch and Mrs. Anna Palmer.
St. John's Ashland, Click For Larger View
Since then, Saint John's has played a vital role in the development of the town and has been an integral part in the lives of the people of Ashland.
Although 150 years have elapsed since the founding of the parish, its people devoted their lives to it and worked diligently in struggling times to preserve it for the glory of God.
The people are proud of their beautiful church that has long been a source of strength and enlightenment for many and it is sincerely hoped it will remain so for countless generations to come.
The basic philosophy of St. John's is embodied in this prayer hanging in the church vestibule:
St. John's Ashland, Click For Larger View
Father of all mankind, we pray that to this church all Thy children may be ever welcome. Hither may the little ones love to come and the young men and maidens to be strengthened for the battle of life. Here may the strong renew their strength and wind for their lives a noble consecration; and hither may age turn its footsteps to find the rest of God and light at the eventide. Here may the poor and needy find friends, here may the tempted find succor, the sorrowing find comfort, and the bereaved learn that over their beloved, death hath no more dominion. Here may they who fear be encouraged and they who doubt have their better trusts and hopes confirmed. Here may the careless be awakened to a sense of their folly and guilt, and to timely repentance. Here may oppressed and striving souls be assured of the mercy that triumphs over sin, and receive help to go on their way rejoicing through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Saint John's joined three other Episcopal Churches in December 1971 to form what is now known as North Parish. The Rev. Clifford B. Carr was the first rector of North Parish. Church Website: COME JOIN US FOR HOLY MASS EVERY SUNDAY AT: 9 A.M. EST UNLESS NOTED ! @ Saint John's Episcopal Church
