Mountain Biking Fountain Head Regional Park | Fairfax County, Virginia
Sound on!
Mountain biking Fountain Head Regional Park in Virginia is an absolute blast! Fountain Head consists of three loops - green, blue, and black. Each loop takes you a bit deeper into the woods and increases in technicality. We did the full loop and covered around 15 miles and 1,500 feet of elevation. If you are into technical chunky riding, this place may not be the fit for you. Fountain Head is hard packed, fast, and flowy with a ton of man made berms and jumps to keep you bouncing around the trail. Don't be fooled though you have to work for your fast downhill runs here as you bob in and out of the hills. The views are pretty amazing as well as you blast through the woods along the Occaquan Reservoir.

Fishing in Northern Virginia at Fountainhead Regional Park - CRAPPIE & BASS (Amazing bite!)
Finally back up in Northern Virginia and decided to take the Tracker Grizzly out to Fountainhead to get after some fish. The bass bite in the morning started off a bit slow, so I switched up tactics and went after some crappie! I closed the short day off by catching some decent bass. Look for another upload in the next few days - most likely back out at this spot!

[Wikipedia] Fountainhead Regional Park
Fountainhead Regional Park is an approximately 2,000 acre park bordering a tributary of the Potomac River. The Park contains rolling hills, dense forests, and a stream (now a reservoir) that flows into the Potomac River. It has a mountain biking trail, preserved 18th century cemetery, four shared-use equestrian trails, miniature golf course and a fishing lake. The Bull Run-Occoquan Trail begins (or ends) in this park, and continues upstream through Hemlock Overlook Regional Park to Bull Run Regional Park in Centreville. Fountainhead Park borders Fairfax Station and Clifton, Virginia, with land-use restrictions adjacent to the park to protect the water supply for half of Fairfax County, as well as ecosystem. Most of the park is closed during the winter.
The park's unique feature in Northern Virginia is the 10.9 miles (17.5 km) mountain biking trail which was improved and rehabilitated by the Fountainhead Project, funded by a grant, local and state government resources along with business and private donations.
The park also features water activities between mid-March and November. Canoe, kayak and jon boat (with small engine) rentals are available, as are fishing supplies (a fishing license is required). Guided canoe trips and paddleboard lessons are offered during the summer. Boats launched from the park (fee charged) are limited to motor sizes at or under 10 horsepower.
The park is administered by the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority.

Fountainhead Park Nature Hike
Fountainhead Regional Park 08-04-18 - Part 1 of 6
Kayak fishing out of Fountainhead. Caught a largemouth bass at around 12 minutes into the trip on a black and blue jig lure with a shaker. I then proceeded to snag the lure on a tree about 15 feet off the water which began a comedy of errors trying to get it loose. Also snagged it's replacement, a Texas rigged tricky worm on a low pine branch. I was able to get that one free. Only fish of the day, but ended a drought that goes back to June 10th of this year.
Bass Fishing at Fountainhead and Burke Lake In Fairfax Virginia!
Headed out to Fountainhead earlier the other week and had a decent day until i was ran off the water by a bad storm. Decided to hit up Burke Lake, right now the road from Fountainhead and got on some decent bass.
