Four Mile Creek Greenway - Matthews Segment
Its Sunday morning and we're at Squirrel Lake Park in Matthews North Carolina and we are going to take our bicycles on a segment of the Four Mile Greenway Trail. Come along for the ride and enjoy the scenery as we weave our way along a creek bed along this peaceful path!
The Greenway Restored
When complete, the greenway will feature over 19 miles of trails and land connectors, from Toby Creek Greenway on North Tryon Street to Cordelia Park just north of uptown. The greenway will continue through the urban section and on to the South Carolina state line, conveniently linking Central Piedmont Community College, Carolina Healthcare System and the Park Road and Carolina Place shopping areas among many other destinations.
A space for quiet reflection or a social hot spot, the greenway will be built with the diversity that has Charlotte/Mecklenburg in mind. The walker, jogger, tourist, nature lover, bench sitter or cyclist will delight in this path that connects us all. Urban Little Sugar Creek also includes a major stream restoration project to enhance water quality.

Twelve Mile Creek - Waxhaw, North Carolina
This is my first test video using my A&J Pro Motorized Slider. Shot with a Sony a6300. I used color profile CINE 4 for most of the shots, however, as it dusk approached I ended up using S-Log 2.
This was about as grey of a day as you could imagine. Very dull. Very flat. I will admit that I previously had not been spending much time getting to know the color profiles for my a6300, and what a difference it has made. Needless to say, I am very happy with the results.
beautiful trail (carolina thread)
Rise and shine. Time is dear. Morning dew means the day is new and the path is clear. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful- beautiful trail. Make your way, live your tale, life is what happens to you while you’re on your Carolina trail. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful -- beautiful trail.

Hiking Through the Transylvania Parks in North Carolina
After having hiked through part of the parks of Transylvania County one summer looking at a few waterfalls, I decided to bring my family back the next year. We hiked through Dupont State Park, the Pisgah National Forest, and other trails along the Blue Ridge Parkway. These hours and miles hiking, including a time we temporarily got lost as the sun was beginning to start the process of setting, will forever remain one of those favorite family days that will now be treasured and remembered forever in this video.
Colonel Francis Beatty Park ~ Charlotte, NC ~ Day Hike
Colonel Francis Beatty Park has been a favorite of mine for many years. Personally, I think it's one of Charlotte, NC's best recreational parks that has a lot to offer for everyone. The attraction for me are the miles of mountain bike & hiking trails.
Francis Beatty Park is maintained by the Charlotte Mecklenburg Park & Recreation Dept.
My favorite time to hike these trails are during the weekdays. There are very few people on the trails during the week. Even though you are close to Charlotte, hiking the trails you might feel like you are in the middle of a forest far away from the city.
There are a ton of activities for individuals and families. Some of the amenities include:
265 acres
2 basketball courts (lighted)
6 tennis courts
5 lighted soccer fields
4 horseshoe pits
Indoor shelters
2 outdoor picnic shelters
10 picnic areas with tables and grills
Walking trails
2 playgrounds
Mountain Biking Trails
Conference Center
Rest Rooms
2 softball fields
Lake with kayaking, fishing and canoeing
I see a lot of people fishing at the park in the spring & summer months. It's a great spot for an afternoon of canoeing or kayaking.
The park address is located at:
4330 Weddington Road
Matthews, NC 28105

Ceasars Head Raven Cliff Falls to Naturaland Trust to Gum Gap May 2009
Caesars Head Park offers some of the most spectacular mountain overlooks in South Carolina. For all the scenic waterfalls in South Carolina, only a few qualify for postcard status, and Raven Cliff Falls is one of them. This 400-foot waterfall always provides a great picture taking opportunity. From either the observation platform below, or from a suspension bridge above; both equally rewarding and worth the moderately difficult hike. The pink-blazed Naturland Trust Trail is a beautiful and very strenuous hike that twice descends and ascends more than 1,000 feet over its 5.8-mile length. One of the area's most diverse hikes, this trail includes a cable crossing of Matthews Creek, a spectacular view of Raven Cliff Falls from a swinging bridge, and a rock face called The Cathedral. This 120-foot, semicircular rock formation is a wondrous sight on its own, and on warm days you'll find the water spraying down its face quite refreshing. The Naturaland Trust trail ends about 0.4 mile after you cross the bridge over Raven Cliff Falls. After a 1.4mile hike on the Raven Cliff Falls trail, you will reach the junction and eastern trailhead of the Gum Gap Trail. You can either return the way you came, or turn right and return on the Gum Gap/Raven Cliff Falls Trails to the parking area on US 276, one mile north of Caesars Head State Park. Gum Gap is a easy to moderate trail that is considered a leg of the Foothills Trail, since it runs concurrent with the Foothills Trail for its entire length.
