Four Mile Trail: Yosemite National Park
Hiking Yosemite's Four Mile Trail from Yosemite Valley to Glacier Point, an elevation gain of 3200 feet over 4.8 miles.
Description from :
Distance: 4.8 mi (7.7 km) one way to Glacier Point. 9.6 mi (15.5 km) round trip.
Elevation: 3,200 ft (975 m) elevation gain
Difficulty: Strenuous
Time: 3-4 hours one-way, 6-8 hours round trip
Begin at: Four Mile Trailhead along Southside Drive in Yosemite Valley
This trail begins near the base of Sentinel Rock and climbs to the top of Yosemite Valley at Glacier Point. The trail maintains a continuous steep grade, following the path of an old toll trail that was completed in 1872. The trail has changed a bit over the years; it is now closer to five miles than four (and of course there is no more toll). Spectacular views of Yosemite Valley, El Capitan, Yosemite Falls, and, eventually, Half Dome await those willing to tackle this strenuous trail. Don't skip the side trip to enjoy the view of Yosemite Valley from Union Point, located a bit over two-thirds of the way up.
The Four Mile Trail ends at Glacier Point, where restrooms, parking, and a snack stand (summer only) are available. You can choose to hike back to Yosemite Valley by reversing your route or by continuing on the Panorama Trail, which brings you to the Happy Isles Trailhead in another 8.5 miles (13.7 km).
If you want to hike one way, make sure you have another member of your party available to drop you off or pick you up at the other end. There is no free shuttle system between Glacier Point and Yosemite Valley. The park concessioner runs three daily guided bus tours that include a stop at Glacier Point—you can purchase a tour bus ticket from any tour desk to ride the bus to Glacier Point (hiking back to the Valley). You should purchase this ticket in advance to guarantee your space, but advance tickets are only available if riding the bus from Yosemite Valley to Glacier Point. There is no way to guarantee space riding from Glacier Point to Yosemite Valley; tickets in this direction can only be purchased in cash from the bus driver if space is available.
Filmed on two separate occasions while in Yosemite - portions of the clips were filmed on August 1st, and again on August 27th with a Canon EOS 650D and iPhone 6.
HIKING YOSEMITE in 4K | Part 2: Hiking the Four Mile Trail

The 4 Mile Trail - Yosemite Falls to Glacier Point
This is a quick peek at the Yosemite Valley and some of its most Iconic features.
After spending the week in Oregon, I decided to opt for a 36 hour layover in San Francisco instead of flying straight back home to Dallas.
Jumped in a rental and drove straight through California wine country and the Red Woods. I arrived in Yosemite just in time to pull over at a campsite and make some new friends before getting a few hours of sleep in the back of the suburban. Glamping for sure.
We got an early morning start at sunset by hiking the Yosemite Valley loop and lower Yosemite falls. What a sight of power when they are in full force!
Then we shot up past Cathedral Peak and the 4 Mile Trail to Glacier Point for some EPIC views of the Yosemite Valley, Falls and Half Dome and the most epic day hike of my life!!!

Hiking in Yosemite: Four Mile Trail... Loop?
I took a day hike in Yosemite National Park starting on the Four Mile Trail and heading up to Glacier Point. After that I hike down to Illilouette Falls and then over to Nevada Falls before hiking down the mist trail past Vernal Falls to Happy Isle and the valley floor.
The Four-Mile, Panorama, Mist Trail Loop in Yosemite National Park
Favorite hike from Yosemite National Park during our May 2018 trip to the Sierra Nevada. We hiked up the four-mile trail to Glacier Point, then down the panorama trail to see Illilouette Falls and Panorama Point to the top of Nevada Fall, then completed the loop by hiking down the Mist Trail from the top of Nevada Fall past Vernal Fall and into Happy Isles. AMAZING views along the entire hike. Get to see the who face of the valley, El Capitan, Eagle Peak, Yosemite Falls, Yosemite Point, North Dome and parts of Half Dome on the Four-Mile Trail. Then the view from Glacier Point. Hiking the Panorama Trail you see Illilouette Falls and Creek and great views of Liberty Cap, Half Dome, Clouds Rest and some of the entry into the High Sierra. Lastly, the Mist Trail provides you with the rush of powerful falls in Nevada and Vernal. It was a 16.5 mile hike with 4,500 feet of elevation, but worth every step!
