12. St. Louis, Missouri
Over 14% of St. Louis’ population is living below the poverty line. Out of 100,000 residents, every year 35.3 are murdered, which ranks it as one of America’s most dangerous cities too.

11. Reno, Nevada
Reno was the gambling capital of the US until Las Vegas was developed and “The Biggest Little City in the World” has been in economic decline ever since. Reno experiences nearly 39 annual crimes per 1,000 residents.

10. Modesto, California
Despite being home to the largest winery in the world, the unemployment rate was nearly 13% in 2014. Modesto ranks number one in the country for car theft and out of 200,000 residents, up to 10,000 are reported to be gang members.

9. Oakland, California
The economy in Oakland is strong with a good median household income. ($51,683.) However, home to around 50 gangs and a high violent crime rate, Oakland also suffers from high traffic congestion and poor air quality. 190% worse than the national average.

The “murder capital of the country, also has one of the worst toxic-substance records. New Orleans has still not recovered from Hurricane Katrina, and was ranked number two in “America’s Dirtiest Cities.”

7. Birmingham, Alabama
27.3% of residents live below the poverty line. Out of every 100,000 residents, 1400 are victims of violent crimes due to the prominent drug trade and high poverty rate.

6. Stockton, California
In 2012, the city filed for bankruptcy. Forbes voted Stockton as one of the most dangerous cities in America due to its high crime rates with over 20,000 violent and property crimes committed last year.

5. Memphis, Tennessee
Memphis is the largest city on the Mississippi River with over 20% of its inhabitants living below the poverty line. In Memphis you stand a 1 in 12 chance of being a victim of crime.

4. New Haven, Connecticut
Home of Yale University, the surrounding areas of New Haven are impoverished and crime ridden. Nearly 68 crimes occur annually for every 1,000 residents.

3. Cleveland, Ohio
Aside from being one of the most corrupt cities in the country, Cleveland also has harsh weather conditions, with an average of 60 inches of snowfall each year.

2. Detroit, Michigan
The city is suffering from urban decay with over 32% of residents living below the national poverty line. According to FBI Reports, Detroit has the highest rate of violent crime of any city over 200,000.

Come and see what this charming village has to offer!

Butler is a village in Waukesha County, Wisconsin which was established in 1913. This charming village owes it very existence to the railroad.

In the Fall of 1909, representatives from the Milwaukee, Sparta, and North Western Railway, a division of the Chicago and North Western Railways, paid a visit to farmers on the east side of the 124th Street. The representatives offered to buy the farmers’ farmland to establish railroad yards as an addition to an outer belt line around the City of Milwaukee.

One of the properties that was acquired for the construction of the “New Butler” railroad yard was the farm of George and Jennie Clark, which was brought for $ 18,000,00. The couple reserved the right to move their house off the land before the start of the construction in the spring of 1910.

Their house was moved across the fields on rollers to its present location on the family’s ancestral farm at 128th Street and Hampton Avenue in the center of Butler. The Clarke house is now a public museum dedicated to the settlement of the village of Butler and its connection to the Chicago and North Western Railroad.

The small community of “New Butler” was settled mostly by railroad workers and their families.

When it was incorporated, the village had a population of only 200 people. It grew steadily as the original developers and real estate speculator purchased acres of additional land which will be used for future development based on the activity generated by nearby railroad yards.

In 1926, “New” was dropped from the village’s name. The Village of Butler continued to grow as an incubator for business and industry mainly because of its proximity to the railroad yards.

To this day, residents of Butler Village WI continue to celebrate and promote their history as a railroad town.

People who live in Butler enjoy a small town with the advantages of its close proximity to major interstates and downtown Milwaukee.

There are also many community events like the Christmas Parade, Independence Day Parade, softball leagues, and National Night Out.

The Village of Butler WI is also home to industrial and retail businesses such as Cargill, Western States Envelope, and Molded Rubber and Plastic. Butler balances commercial and residential interests.

Charlottesville: Race and Terror – VICE News Tonight on HBO

On Saturday hundreds of white nationalists, alt-righters, and neo-Nazis traveled to Charlottesville, Virginia to participate in the “Unite the Right” rally. By Saturday evening three people were dead – one protester, and two police officers – and many more injured.

“VICE News Tonight” correspondent Elle Reeve went behind the scenes with white nationalist leaders, including Christopher Cantwell, Robert Ray, David Duke, and Matthew Heimbach — as well as counter-protesters. VICE News Tonight also spoke with residents of Charlottesville, members of the Black Lives Matter movement, and the Charlottesville Police.

From the neo-Nazi protests at Emancipation Park to Cantwell’s hideaway outside of Virginia, “VICE News Tonight” provides viewers with exclusive, up close and personal access inside the unrest.

* Cuts mean longer airport lines, more homeless -administration * U.S. military not seen compromised at 2007 funding levels * Government furloughs could take weeks to implement after March 1 By David Lawder WASHINGTON, Feb 14 (Reuters) - Hundreds of thousands of people made homeless, long waits at airports and criminals going unpunished. Those were among the dire warnings from the Obama administration on Thursday of the consequences of automatic public spending cuts that are due to kick in next month. While the measures do indeed threaten jobs and the economic recovery, experts say government agencies are overplaying the effect of the $85 billion sequestration cuts to jolt lawmakers into halting them. Deputy Defense Secretary Ashton Carter told a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing that U.S. military readiness would be eroded by the across-the-board cuts, to be split evenly between military and domestic discretionary programs. Carter said some 46,000 contract employees would be laid off, and 800,000 civilian employees would be furloughed for 22 days and ship and aircraft maintenance would be slashed. But the cuts are only a small portion of the overall $3.6 trillion U.S. annual budget, and a miniscule component of the vast U.S. economy. Somehow, the idea that if we go back to 2007 military funding levels we're going to be a second-rate power, well that's overdoing it, said Lawrence Korb, a senior fellow with the Center for American Progress and a former U.S. assistant defense secretary. If you kept this cut, you're back to $500 billion a year. I find it hard to get that worried about it, Korb said, noting that this was still vastly more than any other country spends on its military. A senior White House budget official cautioned, though, that sequestration will have grave real effects. We simply cannot cut $85 billion out of our budget over the next seven months without critical consequences for defense and non-defense, said Danny Werfel, controller for the Office of Management and Budget. He was one of several administration officials, including cabinet secretaries, to list the serious ramifications if Congress and President Barack Obama did not reach an agreement to stop sequestration. The Justice Department predicted that it would handle 1,000 fewer criminal cases this year due to the cuts.
