Rohan Quine's panel in Foyles bookshop, in Novel London Literary Festival 2019
I was pleased to be invited to lead a panel in the UK's most iconic bookshop, Foyles on Charing Cross Road in London, as the opening session of a brand-new annual literary festival -- the Novel London Literary Festival 2019, organised by Novel London's director Safeena Chaudhry.
In the panel, alongside screenings of excerpts from the video-book formats of my novellas The Host in the Attic, The Platinum Raven and Apricot Eyes, Kim Sheldon gave a reading from her novel A Hidden Legacy, and Adam Stevenson gave a reading from his novel The Death of the Dream Pedlar.
Other videos and photos from the Novel London Literary Festival 2019, plus more information about it, are at and

Foyles presents the Bookseller2000: the world's first holographic bookseller
We’re proud today (01/04/16) to announce the launch of our latest digital innovation: the Bookseller2000, the first fully automated holographic staff member to be deployed on the floor of a UK bookshop. With the accumulated literary knowledge base of over 100 human booksellers and all the efficiency and adaptability of 21st century algorithms, the Bookseller2000 represents a significant moment in the history of bookselling.
ADDENDUM: The world of book lovers responded with a mix of delight, astonishment, wonder and horror to our announcement that Foyles had launched holographic booksellers. There were also many people who saw straight through the announcement (appropriately for a story about a hologram) and realised that it was indeed an April Fools' prank. Congratulations if you guessed it, and if you didn't—well, thank you, that's very flattering.
And the holographic bookseller? Well, while we think digital innovation is very important, we would never underestimate the importance of our wonderful, 100% human booksellers. Their knowledge and passion is the reason we exist, and we don't think technology will ever be able to replicate that. So sorry, Bookseller2000, but I think it's time for you to retire.

Can you review my book?
I’m always happy to hear about upcoming books, but I’m afraid I don’t review self-published books and usually prefer to be contacted by the publisher rather than the author. I enjoy reading classics, dystopian/apocalyptic novels, sci-fi, translated fiction and a variety of graphic novels, YA and contemporary literary fiction. booksandquills@gmail.com
Where is your accent from?
I was born and raised in the Netherlands, studied English Literature at Leiden University (also in the Netherlands), studied in the US for 3 months and had lots of American friends, hence the weird accent. I'm definitely not Irish or Canadian, I promise!
Where do you live?
I live in London and have been here for 4 years now.
Where do you work?
I'm a Social Media Producer at Penguin Random House UK.
How did you get into publishing?
I did publishing work experience on 3 different occasions, did a lot of networking and learned everything I know about social media from creating and running this channel for 8 years. (P.s. You don't necessarily have to study Publishing or English to get a job in publishing!).
What do you use to film?
I have a Canon 60D with a Tokina 11-16 lens (which is super useful if you want to sit close to your camera and still get a wide shot) and I use a window as my natural lighting. I edit my videos in Final Cut X.
