Driving Through Lincoln, N.H. In Winter
Lincoln is a town in Grafton County, New Hampshire, United States. It is the second-largest town by area in New Hampshire. The population was 1,662 at the 2010 census. The town is home to the New Hampshire Highland Games and to a portion of Franconia Notch State Park. Set in the White Mountains, large portions of the town are within the White Mountain National Forest. The Appalachian Trail crosses in the northeast. Lincoln is the location of the Loon Mountain ski resort and associated recreation-centered development.
The primary settlement in town, where 993 people resided at the 2010 census, is defined as the Lincoln census-designated place (CDP) and is located along New Hampshire Route 112 east of Interstate 93. The town also includes the village of North Lincoln and the former village sites of Stillwater and Zealand (sometime known as Pullman) in the town's remote eastern and northern sections respectively, which are now within the White Mountain National Forest
More Info Here:
The White Mountain National Forest (WMNF) is a federally managed forest contained within the White Mountains in the northeastern United States. It was established in 1918 as a result of the Weeks Act of 1911; federal acquisition of land had already begun in 1914. It has a total area of 750,852 acres (3,039 km2) (1,225 sq mi). Most of the WMNF is in New Hampshire; a small part (about 5.65% of the forest) is in the neighboring state of Maine. While often casually referred to as a park, this is a National Forest, used not only for hiking, camping, and skiing, but for logging and other limited commercial purposes. The WMNF is the only National Forest located in either New Hampshire or Maine. Most of the major peaks over 4,000 feet high for peak-bagging in New Hampshire are located in the National Forest. Over 100 miles (160 km) of the Appalachian Trail traverses the White Mountain National Forest. In descending order of land area the forest lies in parts of Grafton, Coos, and Carroll counties in New Hampshire, and Oxford County in Maine.

NEW HAMPSHIRE- Our favorite things /// Mt Washington, Franconia Notch hiking- Adventure 24
We took an extended family trip to the beautiful White Mountains in New Hampshire. We stayed at an Airbnb in Lincoln, NH which was a great location to see and do everything we wanted to do. We hiked a beautiful trail in the Franconia Notch State Park, swam in beautiful lakes and rivers, and even drove to the top of Mt Washington. It's an outdoor adventurers dream!!! There is so much we did not get to see, including a moose, so we hope to go back and see more some day.
Thanks for watching!!

Franconia Notch Traverse trail loop _ The White Mountains , New Hampshire 1080p
The Franconia Ridge Traverse is one of the most popular higher summit loops in the White Mountains. It traverses the two popular 5000 footers of Mount Lincoln and Mount Lafayette and one sub peak, Little Haystack at 4800 feet.
We took the Falling Waters trail that follows a crystal clear cascade consisting of 3.2 miles of a steep rocky trail to the summit of Little Haystack Mt. at 4800 feet.
We then followed the Franconia Ridge 1.7 miles to Mt. Lincoln and Mt. Lafayette that are both above 5000 feet. Then headed down to the AMC Greenleaf Hut for 1.1 miles and then proceeded down the Old Bridle Path for 2.9 miles to the Parking lot . It took us exactly 8 hours to traverse the 8.9 mile loop....enjoy.
Don't mind the poor editing and the shaky cam ;)
Basin Lincoln New Hampshire
Franconia Falls is located at the end of the flattest long-distance walk in the White Mountains, it follows an old rail bed that was used for logging.
Franconia Falls at Lincoln Woods. This was an interesting hike with spots splattered with rail trail moments of being bored with the repetitious nature of a long flat walk, but when there were views they were spectacular. I wish we had done this hike earlier in the spring as I would have liked to see the Pemi flowing at full force with water raging in all its White Mountain glory. We made it to the bridge crossing that leads to the Pemi Wilderness and took the left before the bridge to get to the area in the river known as Franconia Falls. It is easy to see how high and rough the water would have been had it been earlier in the year as the rocks are worn “very smooth and slippery when wet” we were able to find a rock hop crossing that was made with slight mishap, and lesson learned for Brian on bringing extra socks. We found a spot next to what we now know is one of the jumping cliffs at the upper part of the falls, lunch was a fail for me, and a second lesson learned for the day, as I had left my meal pouch in the jeep when deciding what I wanted to eat, surviving on several granola bars and some hot tea fit the bill, but was disappointed at not having my pepper steak & rice for lunch. There was a rather large crowd of teens that showed up during the lunch break and we watched them do the cliff diving into the upper pool. We then made our way down the east side of the river, rock hopping until we found a safe place to cross and did a short bushwhack back to the trail. On our way out we met up with a member of the trail croo who had been on the trail beyond the wilderness boundary as it goes up to the Bonds, I asked what had happened to the rickety suspension bridge that was near the tent platforms that I remembered from a ski trip back in the late 70’s, he thought it had been taken out by the hurricane that ripped through the Whites back a few years. The walk back to the parking area was more tedious heading out than coming in and seemed to just go on, and on. Take a look at the video for some highlights of the trip.
