A tour of Frank Lloyd Wright's Henry J. Allen house
The Henry J. Allen house, built for the former Kansas governor by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1917, is one of the last Prairie Style homes built by Wright and is considered one of his finest designs.
Seth Peterson Cottage
The Seth Peterson Cottage was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The architect was commissioned by Seth Peterson to design a small cottage to be built on a piece of land on Mirror Lake just outside of Lake Delton, Wisconsin. The cottage was built but Peterson died before construction was completed.
Eventually, The Seth Peterson Cottage fell into disrepair and was rehabilitated in 1989. Today, the cottage may be rented by the public. This is a great opportunity to stay in a Frank Lloyd Wright property.

Museum of Native American History, Bentonville, Arkansas
Video from a visit to the Museum of Native American History in Bentonville, Arkansas in May of 2016. Background music credit to Bill Miller and Mary Youngblood. I had the privilege of seeing Bill Miller perform in the 1980's in Springfield, Missouri. Please note the book shown near the beginning The Museum of Native American History, A Pictorial Journey by Matt Rowe, is available for purchase either at the museum or on Amazon through MONAH. The museum is fascinating and holds too many ancient treasures to capture them all. We spent about three hours at the museum. Audio wands are given out that provide narrated description of the items displayed. There is also a wonderful gift shop. I used a camcorder that I recently purchased so I am still on a learning curve in getting used to the zoom, etc. Two busloads of elementary students from Rogers, Arkansas visited the museum while we were there. The museum is a wonderful educational opportunity for all ages. Please check out this museum the next time you are in the Bentonville, Arkansas area. You will not be disappointed!

State of The Art
The Journey
The ultimate road trip, to a thousand destinations, for one unforgettable exhibition. In 2013, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art’s curatorial team hit the road to investigate what’s happening in American art today. Over the course of a year, the team logged more than 100,000 miles, crisscrossing the United States to visit nearly 1,000 artists.
Traveling to communities large and small, the Museum sought to discover artists whose work has not yet been fully recognized on a national level. On their travels, museum curators conducted hundreds of hours of one-on-one conversations with artists in their studios.
The Exhibition
The result of this unprecedented journey is a one-of-a-kind exhibition that draws from every region of the US, offering an unusually diverse look at American art. State of the Art brings together the artwork of more than 100 artists, ranging from works on canvas and paper to photography and video to installation and performance art, and more. The exhibition examines the ways in which today’s artists are informed by the past, innovating with materials old and new, and engaging deeply with issues relevant to our times.

The Art of Crystal Bridges - Promo
The Art of Crystal Bridges tells the story behind the founding and development of a major national museum in the heart of the Ozarks. Interviews with museum curators and designers, as well as with architect Moshe Safdie and philanthropist Alice Walton, provide insights into Crystal Bridges' remarkable collection, striking architecture, and breathtaking natural grounds and trails from the people who made it happen. Featuring high definition imagery, narration by Academy Award-winning actress Mary Steenburgen, and an original music score by James Greeson, The Art of Crystal Bridges takes viewers on a visual journey—from construction to completion—of the first major museum devoted to American artwork to open in half a century.

Bentonville Travel Tips - Buckyball Sculpture at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art
The Buckyball Sculpture at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art comes alive at twilight with bright colors that glow in the night. The work is a creation of Leo Villareal in 2012. Named after Buckminster Fuller, the inventor of the geodesic dome; the Buckyball is a 30' sphere with a second nested inside of it. It is designed to represent a carbon 60 molecule. The entire structure is wrapped with LED tubes that produce bright changing colored light. Every evening around sunset visitors gather to witness it's vivid display against the color changing sky. It is a travel tip for Bentonville that is highly recommended for all.
NEW BRITAIN MUSEUM of AMERICAN ART
As part of a class project, I visited the New Britain art museum to find pieces I could write an essay for in Art Appreciation class. This building looks so small from the outside, but feels large from within. The security guard lifelike statue at the entrance was hilarious as many people thought he was real.

The Educational Value of a Cultural Field Trip
When Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art launched its School Field Trip program in 2012, offering sponsored trips at no cost to schools, researchers at the University of Arkansas recognized the opportunity to conduct a first-of-its-kind study. The team researched the effects of a one-time visit to the museum on the K--12 school population, involving 10,912 students and 489 teachers at 123 different schools throughout the region.
The study is the largest and most rigorous examination ever conducted of school tours to an art museum. Researchers found that the effects were significant, and offer implications for everyone from parents to policymakers.
