Donald Trump In Fredericksburg Va FULL Speech 8/20/16
Donald Trump began his rally in Fredericksburg, Va., by calling out the wrong town name Thank you, everybody, Donald Trump began. So Fairfax, on Nov. 8, you've got to get out and vote. The crowd continued to cheer, ignoring Trump's mistake. Trump began his speech by calling the area Fairfax. Donald Trump told a crowd of thousands on Saturday that the Republican party must do better at reaching out to African-Americans, using a campaign stop in Virginia to expand on his newly adopted emphasis on creating a more inclusive party. I fully recognize the outreach to the African-American community is an area where the Republican Party must do better. And it will do better, Trump told a mostly white crowd in the hall of the the Fredericksburg Expo & Conference Center. The GOP is the party of Abraham Lincoln. And I want our party to be the home of the African-American voter once again. Trump raised the issue of African-American outreach near the end of a roughly 40-minute speech read from a teleprompter. He said the issue has great and very deep personal importance to him and stressed that in recent days he has asked African-Americans to honor me with their vote. We reject the bigotry of Hillary Clinton, Trump said. Who sees people of color only as votes, not as human beings worthy of a better future. UPDATE, 6:38 p.m.: Trump ended his speech at 6:36 p.m. It was a fairly typical campaign stump speech. He hit on a number of familiar themes, saying immigration laws will be enforced and trade deals will protect the American worker again. We're going to reject globalism and put America First, America First. And it's going to be America First from now on. Other highlighted quotes from Trump: Hillary Clinton is a throwback from yesterday. Our campaign is about creating a new American future. I fully recognize that outreach to the African-American community is an area where the Republican Party must do better, and will do better, Trump said during a rally in Fredericksburg, located between Richmond and Washington in the critical battleground state of Virginia. In spite of past fiery rhetoric that alienated many minority voters, Trump said that he wants an inclusive party. He noted that the GOP is the party of Abraham Lincoln and said, I want our party to be a home of the African-American voter once again. Trump has been working in recent days to boost his appeal among African-American voters — declaring Friday that he could win 95 percent of the black vote at the end of his first term in office, if he is elected. Trump's new minority outreach efforts followed a shake-up in his campaign management in the face of falling poll numbers that quickly prompted noticeable changes to his campaigning tactics. In Fredericksburg, he spoke with the aid of a teleprompter, as he has at rallies all this week. Earlier Saturday in New York, Trump met with his new National Hispanic Advisory Council for Trump, which will work to help him focus his message, as well as provide assistance with the campaign's Hispanic outreach.
