The Frick Art & Historical Center is a cluster of museums and historical buildings located at 7227 Reynolds Street, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States and formed around the Frick family's nineteenth-century residence known as Clayton.It focuses on the interpretation of the life and times of Henry Clay Frick , industrialist and art collector.The complex, located on 5.5 acres of lawn and gardens in the city's Point Breeze neighborhood, includes Clayton, the restored Frick mansion; The Frick Art Museum; The Car and Carriage Museum; the Greenhouse; the Frick children's playhouse; and The Café.The site welcomes over 100,000 visitors a year.

Henry Clay Frick
Henry Clay Frick was an American industrialist, financier, union-buster, and art patron. He founded the H. C. Frick & Company coke manufacturing company, was chairman of the Carnegie Steel Company, and played a major role in the formation of the giant U.S. Steel steel manufacturing concern. He also financed the construction of the Pennsylvania Railroad and the Reading Company, and owned extensive real estate holdings in Pittsburgh and throughout the state of Pennsylvania. He later built the historic neoclassical Frick Mansion and at his death donated his extensive collection of old master paintings and fine furniture to create the celebrated Frick Collection and art museum.

FINAL PROJECT Video Blog (on flash drive) presented for peer review.
Produce a 3 to 5 minute video blog “Museum Review” that comprehensively addresses a museum experience and clearly states your recommendation to others about the museum. Choose one colleague in class to complete the work: you will be producing the video blog in pairs. Please do not review an exhibition. This video blog should be a review of a museum experience, and include the permanent collection. It is not a review of an exhibition installation.
The following should introduce the blog:
• Museum Name and Location
• Date of Visit / review (speak in present tense, using actual date)
Consider the following questions from the perspective of Lindauer’s “critical museum visitor”
• How difficult/easy is it to visit? (Is it centrally located, a hidden gem, other)?
• What does the museum feel like? (is it welcoming, is it forbidding)?
• Describe the admissions process and pricing.
• Notice who the museum is aimed at in terms of their “ideal visitor.”
• Who would you encourage to visit?
• Is there anyone who should be warned against visiting?
• Why would you encourage someone to visit?
• A single object that must be seen (destination work) and what that experience is like.
• Address the authority of the museum and how that comes through
• Mention something notable about the interpretive strategy in the galleries
• Was there a singular person that made the experience exceptional for you? If so, how?
• Pay attention to the amenities: if there is a museum store: what does it carry? If there is a museum café, whom/what purpose does it serve?
• Name one thing you believe needs to be improved.
• Name one thing you’d hold sacred and never change about the museum.

Pittsburgh is a city in western Pennsylvania at the junction of 3 rivers. Its Gilded Age sites, including the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, the Carnegie Museum of Art and the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, speak to its history as an early-20th-century industrial capital. In the North Shore neighborhood are the modern Andy Warhol Museum, Heinz Field football stadium and PNC Park baseball stadium.
The pleasure of Pittsburgh remains a well-kept secret. Though not built up by reputation, the city's unique combination of bridges, steep hills, and broad rivers make it one of the most naturally scenic cities in the country. Cheap food and beer abound in this true sports town and the locals are amazingly friendly.
The first European to discover the site of Pittsburgh was French discoverer/trader Sieur de La Salle in his 1669 expedition. The settlement of Pittsburgh began as a strategic point at the confluence of three rivers, with Britain, France, and the local Native American tribes all vying for control over this spot and thus, the region. On what is now referred to as The Point, where the rivers meet, several forts were constructed by competing French and British forces during the French and Indian War. In 1758, British general John Forbes ordered the construction of Fort Pitt, named after British Secretary of State William Pitt the Elder. He also named the settlement between the rivers Pittsborough.

The historic, economic, administrative, and cultural center of the city, where the three rivers meet.
East End-South
Home to the city's second downtown - the college neighborhood of Oakland - as well as many institutions, parks, and quieter residential and shopping areas. The main neighborhoods of interest in this area are Oakland, Shadyside, and Squirrel Hill.
East End-North
A center of the city's ethnic diversity, this formerly industrial area is now bustling with shops and restaurants. The main neighborhoods of interest in this area are the Strip District, Lawrenceville, Bloomfield, and East Liberty.
North Side
Two of Pittsburgh's major league sports teams and many of the city's finest museums can be found here. The main neighborhoods of interest in this area are the North Shore, Allegheny, and the Mexican War Streets.
South Side
A particularly hilly region famous for its inclines and great views of the city - as well as its bar scene. The main neighborhoods of interest in this area are the Southside Flats and Mt Washington.
