What to Do in Berlin /// Friedrichshain/ Kreuzberg /// Visit Berlin
A little vid on some of my favourite places in Berlin that I filmed last year. Please comment if you've got any additional recommendations or any questions.
*Edit: Flights are even cheaper now. A friend of mine got a flight out there for as little as £5!
It is the S9 from the airport, but the direction is Spandau.
Just realised when I'm describing 'Chalet' club, I'm actually talking about 'Renate'! Whoops!
Skip to 08:10 for info on clubs.
Additional MUST-DO things:
- Go to Urban Nation street art museum (it's free!)
- Visit Teufelsberg (abandoned spy tower - you'll need to rent a bike + take it on the S-Bahn).
- Visit Flughafen Tempelhof (an abandoned airport, where many refugees are currently staying).
Kreuzberg-Friedrichshain Berlin Walking 3 ???????? Germany 2019 [4K] Warschauer Straße, Oberbaumbrücke
Kreuzberg is the coolest and hippest location in Berlin. Kreuzberg has long been famed for its diverse cultural life, its experimental alternative lifestyles.
In 2001, Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain were merged to form one administrative borough. When it comes to club culture of night life, Friedrichshain is now out particularly ranked as home to the highest density of clubs in the city.
Along the Spree’s northern and southern, locals and visitors applaud the street musicians on the Oberbaumbrücke bridge.

This is Berlin: Kreuzberg
Today we go on a tour of Kreuzberg, a Berlin neighbourhood home to a lot of artists, musicians, and creatives. Kreuzberg is the heart of many alternative music scenes, and is the epicentre of the edgy and celebrated Berlin street art culture.
Kottbusser Tor – known to locals as Kotti – has the vibrancy of a city where everyone comes together to have a drink and experience a great night out. At the same time, other parts of Kreuzberg are more laid back, like the canal at Paul Linke Ufer, or one of the many large parks such as Görlitzer Park, where you can enjoy specialty coffee, take a nice walk, or just lie about with a good book. The beauty of Kreuzberg is that it brings all of these diverse lifestyles together.

Berlin Walk Friedrichshain 1 ???????? Flohmarkt Boxhagener Platz [4K] Germany 2019
Friedrichshain has an alternative and artistic vibe formerly a neighbourhood in East Berlin. Tourists are often attracted to the area’s famous GDR-era relics, including the longest surviving stretch of the Berlin Wall, the East Side Gallery, and the socialist boulevard, Karl-Marx-Allee. However, the artsy neighbourhood is also known for its punk-locals, artistic collectives and for housing Berlin’s most rambunctious nightlife.
Friedrichshain is got its fill of bohemians as well as young families, a melting pot of fluid gentrification. These artisan soaked streets are littered with cool cafés, antique theaters, and markets for motley lovers. The needs of vegetarians, cinephiles, and outdoor lovers can be satiated and surpassed in this section of Friedrichshain.
Flohmarkt or flea market is a great way to celebrate the idiosyncrasies of the neighborhood in style. You can find the local vibe by showcasing handicrafts and vintage items from nearby inhabitants. Everything from art to antiques can be found at this neighborhood marketplace.

A Walk Around the Berlin Wall East Side Gallery, Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, Berlin, Germany
Catching the U-Bahn from Checkpoint Charlie to the East Side Gallery of the Berlin Wall. Then a walk around the East Side Gallery. Probably not the best time to visit as there was plenty of construction along the northern end of the wall. However, there was still plenty to see. I suggest going early as it is a tourist attraction in Berlin so there are crowds. Worth the visit.

Volkspark Friedrichshain Walking Tour
Hey Guys, Heres a walking tour of one of the best parks in Berlin. Enjoy this Walking Around Volkspark Friedrichshain.
Info on Folks Park.
Volkspark Friedrichshain is a large urban park on the border of the Berlin neighborhoods of Friedrichshain and Prenzlauer Berg. The oldest public park in Berlin, at 52 hectares, it is also the fourth-largest, after Tempelhofer Park (300 hectares), Tiergarten (210 hectares), and Jungfernheide (146 hectares).
Märchenbrunnen (1913)
Mid 19th Century - 1945
The size, shape, and layout of the park have changed over the intervening years. In 1848, the Friedhof der Märzgefallenen (a cemetery commemorating those who died in the March revolution) was created. Another of the earliest changes was due to the construction of Berlin's first urban hospital, Krankenhaus im Friedrichshain, which was built in 1868 to 1874 in the southeast part of the park. The hospital, which was designed by Martin Gropius and Heino Schmieden, was originally directed by the notable Rudolf Virchow.
The Märchenbrunnen in Volkspark Friedrichshain, as it appears today.
An element of the park that has survived the destruction wrought during the Second World War is the Fairy Tale Fountain (Märchenbrunnen). Designed in 1913 by Berlin's city building director, Ludwig Hoffmann, the fountain contains 106 stone sculptures representing characters from traditional German fairy tales. The fountain was created for the children of Berlin, during a time in which rickets and typhoid were endemic, and took 12 years to complete. The Second World War had a dramatic impact upon the rest of the park. The Nazi military made use of the park, constructing flak towers in 1941, as well as bunkers, and as a result much of the park was destroyed by Allied bombing during the war.
At the end of the war Berlin was divided into four parts by the Allied Powers, and the Volkspark resided in the Soviet Sector. The reconstruction of the park was therefore undertaken by the German Democratic Republic (GDR). A plan was devised by Reinhold Linger, the GDR director of landscape and park architecture, to create two small artificial mountains in the park out of rubble from the bombed-out city. (Similar projects were undertaken throughout postwar Germany, and such peaks are called Schuttberge in German.) In 1946 the bunkers were destroyed, filled, and covered by over two million cubic meters of rubble from the ruins of destroyed buildings. The larger of the two hills became known as both Mont Klamott and Großer Bunkerberg, the tall bunker mountain, and is 78 meters tall. The smaller hill, Kleiner Bunkerberg, the small bunker mountain, has a height of 48 meters. With the passage of time and the growth of greenery, the hills now appear to be completely natural features.
The period from 1995 to 2004 saw a period of renovation and reconstruction, during which the Fairy Tale Fountain was cleaned of a great deal of vandalism that had taken place following German reunification. The swimming pools built in the GDR period have been replaced by a sports complex for beach volleyball, rock climbing, skateboarding, and cycling.
