My First day in Kazakhstan: Sim | Local Currency | Public transport | Hotel
This video series is about my trip to Kazakhstan, Turkey and Georgia. This episode is based on the first day in Almaty, the largest city of Kazakhstan. I stayed in hotel Ramada, #Almaty for just 1 US Dollar. Check Air Astana Stopover Holiday for more information on how to stay in star hotels in Almaty and Astana in just 1 US Dollar!
I purchased Tele 2 mobile sim in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Watch this video to know the rate of the sim card and how much I paid for the internet data. Also, you will see me withdrawing the local currency #Tenge using my Indian banks debit card. I have shared an information about a trick by which you won't be charged bank commission for money withdrawal. I visited a Local supermarket to buy vegetarian food in Almaty. Check the rate of the things I bought from there.
I travelled on local buses in Almaty. The bus fare in August 2018 (when I was there) was 150 Tenge. Watch the video for more information on how to travel cheaper than this by using a particular travel card.

The best of Kazakhstan in 7 days
We visited Kazakhstan to experience its natural beauty, meet the people, and learn about their culture and history. To make the best of our seven-day stay, we selected a few places in the two biggest cities (Almaty and Nur-Sultan), and made trips out to villages and national parks in the Almaty and Akmola regions. We learnt a lot, and we fell in love with the country and its people.

Uzbekistan Day 1: Tashkent
On Day 1 in Uzbekistan we went on an ultimate Uzbek street food tour in Tashkent, including the biggest bazaar in the city, and the most massive plov (rice pilau) cooking in Tashkent.
We had arrived at the airport in Tashkent at about 4 am in the morning, and at 9 am we were ready to start eating our way through the city.
First we met up with Bekruz and Akbar both from the Ministry of Tourism Uzbekistan (Bekruz is the one who invited me to Uzbekistan and arranged everything for us, so thank you Bekruz!), and Ravshan (check out his channel: a local food vlogger in Uzbekistan.
Two of the most important phrases you should know in Uzbek are:
Assalomu Alaykum - Hello / Greeting
Rahmat - Thank you
Bread Bazaar, Tashkent - We started this ultimate street food tour at the bread bazaar in Tashkent, a market dedicated fully to bread, with a little fruit and other things mixed in. We bought some break, some kaymak, and some fruit and then went to a nearby restaurant where they laid everything on the table for us, along with tea. Uzbek breakfast was a great way to get started.
Chorsu Bazaar - The grandest bazaar in Tashkent is Chorus Bazaar, and it’s a perfect place to get a feel of Uzbek culture and food. We first stopped at the food court to try hanum, a type of dumpling filled with potato and somsa. Then we continued to the dome shaped iconic part of the bazaar, filled with fresh meat and spices. It’s one of the coolest market structures anywhere in the world.
Plov Center - We kind of had to rush out of Chorsu Bazaar because although they prepare 1,500 Kilos, seriously, of rice plov per day, it only takes 2 - 3 hours before they run out everyday. So we got there, already one of the monster swimming pool pans was finished, but they still had a few others going and serving. Plov is the national dish of Uzbekistan, a food that’s eaten on every and all occasions. For Tashkent plov, it’s pretty heavy on the meat at oil, with rice, chickpeas, and raisins. Also it included, qazi - horsemeat sausage which is a delicacy. It was incredibly delicious, and proper meal experience.
Total price - 100,000 UZS ($12.21)
Plov is love, remember that when you’re in Uzbekistan.
National Food Restaurant - After strolling around for a while in the afternoon, we continued to a National Food restaurant, a laid back family style restaurant that serves all things Uzbek food. Along with a number of dishes, the main dish I was most interested in was the naryn, thin slices of dough mixed with minced meat and horse. It was interesting, and quite good, as were the other dishes.
Total price - 110,000 UZS ($13.43)
Sultan Suleyman Restaurant - For dinner we went to a bit of a fancy trendy restaurant, and had another platter of food. This time, dough noodle like sheets topped with meat, horse sausage again, and green onions.
Total price - 122,000 UZS ($14.90)
It was a day of learning, eating, and meeting some amazing people along the way. Thank you for watching this Uzbekistan food tour!

Traditionally Kazakh cuisine was based on meat and dairy products. But more recently vegetables, fruits, fish, baked dishes, and sweets have been added to the list of delights Kazakhs offer to their guests. Other countries and ethnic groups Uzbeks, Uyghurs, Tatars, Russians and many more have large similarities in their food culture with Kazakhstan.

Pham Ngu Lao nightlife is also one of Ho Chi Minh’s finest, with throngs of street vendors, bia hoi stalls, lively bars, and downtown clubs filling up the lively scene. Interesting nightlife entertainment spots include The View Rooftop Bar, Seventeen Saloon, Go 2 and Crazy Buffalo Nightclub as well as many smaller pubs that are known for their cheap drinks and happy hour promos. It’s also common around here to meet friendly expats who are more than happy to share a few tips about travelling in and beyond Vietnam. If you want to immerse yourself in the local culture, we highly suggest getting up early and visit the parks within the area. It is interesting to see (and even to join in on) the elders participating in Tai Chi-like exercise sessions. Another must-do is heading to the morning markets such as Ben Tanh Market, where local vendors sell a wide array of fresh produce, household supplies, and Vietnamese street food at attractive prices. As Pham Ngu Lao is not such a large area, it’s the perfect place to explore on foot - the best time to do this is in the morning and late afternoon as the weather can be rather scorching at the height of the day. If you’re feeling adventurous, there are also travel agencies that can help arrange for day trips within the city centre and beyond...

Entry Title: Five stans of Central Asia
Entry:
It was a very long day traveling to Central Asia
This travelogue with pictures will be one of the longest I will ever post, because it covers five countries in Central Asia, and I took over 2,000 pictures. What surprised me the most was the simple fact that these countries we visited were living a pretty good standard of living, and that many of the sites we visited were well preserved and maintained. The friendliness of the children can't be overly expressed; it's probably the only part of the world where young children approach you to talk with you. It's probably a good opportunity for them to practice their English. Our travel group was made up from people all over the US, and many were college professors and/or administrators, and we had a doctor and his wife from Minneapolis, my roommate from Florida is a retired Colonel in the Navy, a restaurant chain owner from North Carolina, and some common folks like me. It was a good group.
We essentially followed the Silk Road route in this region, and saw some interesting artifacts from that period in addition to meeting the people, and eating their food (and vodka). The architecture is a mixture of Islamic, Russian, Persian, and Chinese basically finished in
colored tiles. We also learned a little about Tamerlane (Timur Empire), the supposed grandson of the Genghis Khan who conquered much of Central Asia which began in the early 14th century and lasted until the mid-1850s.
The people, especially the children are very friendly towards American tourists. They approach us freely and start to speak English as if it's their first language, but many speak over five languages. In some countries, over 90% are Muslim, but it's against the law to promote religion in some of their countries.
Since this journey was made almost three years ago, I will not be able to remember enough to provide a travelogue, so the pictures will have to suffice.
There are about 600,000 Koreans living in this part of the world. Many can be seen at the bazaars selling their typical Korean salads. Before taking this journey, I worried that I would
stick out as the only Asian in our tour group, but that fear disappeared quickly, because the many living in that part of the world have Asian faces.
The only shock of preparing for this trip was the cost of the five VISA applications; with the pictures and processing fees, the total was over $800.
I had the opportunity to travel to this part of the world with Road Scholar, because a gentleman I traveled in Israel with asked me to join him. The itinerary started in Almaty,Kazakhstan,
followed by Issyk Kul, then on to Tajikistan, Kyrgystan, and Bishkek, Samarkand:
Tashkent, Uzbekistan ...

Budget travel england
Budget travel england - The same theory goes with the destination. Choose larger airports instead of smaller ones, since adding a commuter flight to your bill can greatly inflate the price.
Finally, look to the specific dates of travel. For most destinations, the prices for flights on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday are less expensive than those leaving on the other days of the week.
